I wouldnt buy resrouces at 3per...

5 is nuts.... they cost less than a half a credit to mine + overhead.

You are right.

Don't forget to add in cost to mine, demand, difficulty and time of the person doing the mining. Plus the fact the the resources have been shifting more than once a week lately.... on corbantis I saw 4 resource shifts between monday and thursday.

not everything is at the 1k range of the city ... some of these resources you have to hunt for ... some are missing for several days or even whole shifts .... you factor only the maintenance cost of the harvestor and wonder why people sell them for so much? Ore concentrations are crap meaning more harvestors are needed also driving up the cost....

No architect can afford to buy resources and expect to turn any kind of profit .... but its not the resources that cost too much is the grinders that set our prices too low. 5cpr is fairly decent I've seen it as high as 10cpr during droughts .... when they jump up that high I stop building and start selling resources.

The problem is our profession is designed to improve the more time you can spend doing it. If you don't have time to run missions to pay maintenance to harvest your own resources plus spend a good chunk of a day each week ... sometimes 2 looking for the stupid resources then you are SOL. Most architects don't even build anymore except for friends or guild members because the market sucks too much. They are selling resources to weaponsmiths or are building harvestors and furniture

They need to bring back mining and restrict extractors to that profession ....... to create a buffer between the people who gather resources and those who need them.

Why not sell at the minimum you can to pull a profit? What good does having 1 million credits vs. 8milliion credits right now? People are whining because people are selling at 2creds/resource, well from what I have seen most people claim it only takes 1 to 1.5 cred/resource to mine them, you sell a small house you make 3k. Not bad, IMHO. You can make money now, you just can't be filthy rich. Another thing, the ore price on my server, corbantis, is 5cred/resource, what arch is buying this? They wouldnt keep selling if no one was buying, and since we are the profession that uses most of the ore, some arch out there is buying it, stop buying ore, the prices will go down.

You are correct. Architect isnt a money making profession. its a personal reward system is all.

The reason they can sell at 5cpu is because armorsmiths and Weaponsmiths sell at 20-100 credits per unit used. Architects must mine there own or break even buying at 2cpu.

Because Architects aren't part of a recurring consumer market, that's why.

When you sell a house, it doesn't decay. Therefore, only one house sale per customer, unless they upgrade, in which case they'll sell their previous house to another person therefore also taking that sale away from you.

Same with furniture.

Harvesters will decay only if you don't pay maintenance on them and most people won't let them just disappear, of course.

Therefore, every time an Architect sells a structure, he takes a customer out of the market for that product permanently.

Selling at slim margins is only viable if you have a large customer base and a consumable product and obviously we do not.

Otherwise you're just an idiot, or for some other reason you don't care about making a living in Architecture.

As for me, I turn down lots of business or refer them to another Architect. Crafting is boring and selling resources is much more profitable. When I do sell, I only do sowhen I have stuff in stock and only at full price, unless you are a Village of Oz resident.

You forgot something about the declining market.

When you have fewer and fewer people buying a product, the only people that stay in businessare the ones that can sell at lower profit margins and gets their name out there so thatthey snag more of the few customers out there. It is called market share.

I have worked in a declining market for years, if you deliver to your customers and a good value, they will talk about you, and they think a whole lot better of me than you guys do

You haven't got a clue how to determine a good bottom line.

Let's say you're using fusion & heavies, and your cost/resource with re-deed is actually under .5 cred/res (Which it certainly can be)

Let's give the resources you're mining a value of 3 cred/res each. You're making a PROFIT as a miner of 2.5 cred/resource you mine. If you do that intelligently, and speculate properly, stockpiling good resources, and selling them out of cycle, you could get 6-12 cred/resource. (Ohit Aluminum from 3 or 4 shifts ago is fetching 50 credits/unit on Bria right now)

So as a miner, you have your profit of between 2.5 & 10 credits per resource. Pretty hefty, and good money. Congrats, you know how to run harvesters.

How let's examine the Architecture end of things. You're selling your structures at what, 3 credits/res? Tack on crit fails at 10%, so you're actually making 2.22 credits per resource.

So you're making 2.5-10 per as a miner, and LOSING .3 to 7.5 as an architect.

So we're looking at the bottom line, and the numbers are speaking. Listen carefully, they have something to say to you...

"Hey Dayln! It's your numbers speaking. You're an idiot."

Quite true, your numbers don't lie.

Adune, I dont have a clue? LOL

You keepchanting that while I driveprices below what you are willing to sell for. I can hear you alter " He drove me out of business because he doesnt know anything about busniess, even though he is still in busiiness" ( ROFL )

If I were only in it for the money I would sell resrouces, but it is more to me than that.

Ok so your not in it to make money, please tell us what you are in it for. Does that mean you sell your items at cost? Do you sell low so you can feel good that someone really likes your price? Tell me what do you pay your 15 dollars a month for.

I just said that making the most money is not my higest goal, heck it isnt any archetects goal thatknow how tocount.

If making the most money the fastest was the goal none of us would be architects.

My goal is to run a good profitable but sensible business, one that makes my customers happy, and sruvive in a declining customer market. It is a challange that I enjoy
