Thread: Impending catastrophe with Schematic Limit of 100

From the 'test center' thread:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=TestCenter&message.id=15968#M15968

They are 'fixing' the bug with schematics being able to go over 100 items. In other words, you won't be able to Structure Module schematics with a count of 1000 any more - max of 100.

This is a complete and utter disaster. Its not that I mind the small expense of making schematics, its that the factory takes so frigging long to make stuff. I'll be able to get 1 run of structure modules per day - maximum. Ten walls a day - maximum - unless I decide to go and use ALL my frigging lots for structure factories.

ArchAngel - please do whatever you can to prevent this horrible, horrible nerf.

Everyone else - I'm going to make a stink.

Holo has already seen what an uproar this suppose bug fix is and is starting a poll in the Devs forum. Everyone go post your opinions on this matter so that we won't ever have to deal with just being to set schematics to only 100 on the live servers.

Hmmm... Let's see. I bring in about 20K ore/day. Therefore I can do one schematics run of 100 struc modules/day. This is the same for most independent architects.

THerefore, the only architects this is going to hurt are the huge, PA architects that have lots of their guildmates lots to use and are already selling 10 heavies a day at insanely low prices making it impossible for the rest of us.

I'm afraid I have no sympathy for you.

Actually Gen, thats not true... i'm not in a PA, I have 7 Heavy harvesters running on ore at all times... each one typically brings in around 5-6k per day in ore... thats 35-40k of ore per day.... I purchase generic metals from a guy for 2:1 so I can just mine all my own ore.

So, in reality, I could actually do 2 runs per day and make 200.... it is a nerf, although for us its not as severe as some have made it out to be.

in my experience 100 items for us takes a lot less time in a factory then 100 items for a doctor. It was a bug to be 1000 items, it shouldn't change.

actually I don't think it was a bug... if you tried to make a schematic for more than 1000 uses it would give an error message that you couldn't go over 1000.

So, was the bug the slider that stopped at 100? or the message and the fact it let you put in 1000?

I say 100 by a count of 2 to 1... hehe

Ropock, nothing is universal I fully understand. If you did, however, want to mine your own steel, ore, copper, alum, chem, inert and reactive gas that we all need, I think you would find 100 structural modules a day to be baout your limit.

Your setup doesnt change the fact that this change (which wont happen because too much of the community is already in an uproar over this) will actually level the playing field a little between the huge PA supported architects and the small independents.

Personally, Ive given up selling buildings. I make all my money now on crafting stations and I give any buildings I make away to my friends simply because I dont want to sell buildings for 2.5-3 cpu in order to compete.

Well, considering Holo mentioned in the Developer Forum article that it was never intended to let players make schematics for over 100 items, it is (was) indeed a bug/exploit.

The sad part is that if they had fixed this before release, people would have just dealt with it and formed their routines around it. Sure, you would have seen the occasional message petitioning for an increase, but it wouldn't be nearly the fiasco it is now that they let people get used to using the exploit.

It's a problem caused bypremature game release, but I still say people just need to deal with it. Independent Architects shouldn't have too much trouble adjusting, and anyone trying to do more than that should have known it would be more work when they decided to go that route.

I actually prefer it to be 100

Could you elaborate on that Jigrah? I agree with you, but there aren't many of us (at least not those of us voicing our opinions). It'd be good to get our thoughtsout there.

I believe keeping it at 1000 and this is why: To make a 100 wall run, you need 1000 blocks. I don't know about you folks, butI like to stock up on components. I will harvest for a week and then make a run, this way I can make a good stock of walls. That's just my opinion, but I would be willing to compromise at 500. 100 is workable though, I dont see it as game breaking. I just see this as a popular issue and being on the side of the majority is my job.

I submitted a post in the Artisan forum suggesting improvements to the functionality of factories. One of the things I had in there was Job Queueing. If they implemeted that, you could still run your 1000 structural modules in one shot. You'd just have to make 10 different schematics and load them all up. Other things I suggested would also allow you to queue up the wall modules to automatically run after the structural mods. I know... I'm dreaming, but I had a vision...

100 components is quite a bit, I think there does need to be a limit and i find 100 is a good size, it lets you produce a lot of components, which is its main goal. Now if you increase it to 1000, that decreases the amount of time weaponsmiths and armorsmiths and what not need to spend experimenting for the best, 1000 of any component will last you for ages, so if you make one really good one, you will have it for ever and a day. With 100 limit you are limited to making a new one quite often.
