architect hoping to work with a merchant...yea right..like Im going to trust some merchant with a 500k building and hope he pays me when it sells..

Right now I sell droid for a master droid eng. i buy in lots of 200k sometimes..wait for my supply to run low and order more..he has 3 of his own vendors also..If this was a main and not an alt account there would be no way i could afford this. so trying to get a merchant to sell your good as a norm is not possible.

The merchant would need millions of credits to pay in advance..then if it doesnt sell has to get the other person to buy back the stuff. Aint going to happen..

This is a bad idea all around..

You're saying the current values are higher than what they originally were? What are the devs thinking?!

I couldn't have expressed it any better (or more calmly) than ZenDragonMLSdid. There is a link in my sig for what I propose to be acceptable item limits.

I have no problem with the concept that Non Merchants have a VERY low item figure for Vendors.

I envisaged Merchants coming into there own and being a viable profesion servicing serious crafters who want to use Skill points to have variety in there play and not tie everything up into a Crafter/Merchant

So an Artisan Limit of 50 for Bus 3 and say another 50 for Business 4 and Master sounds cool to me.

BUT This HAS to be balanced with a sensible limit for Merchant skill trains to give Characters a chance to either master merchant skill and sell them themselves or deal with a Master merchant that can sell them for them.

Where are my options if this Publish goes through?

Craft and sell on Bazaar? BUGGED and Limited in value

Craft and sell to order? Suggest this is what the Devs want / intend? But the increase in game Mail? Wheres thestorage space? How do you advertise? Ahh again this suggests a theme from the DEVS to remove the Crafting Millionares? There are a Few yes But more COMBAT ones or Camping Ones. Not sensible to upset the whole community to address a minor problem.

Become Master Merchant? Take up masses of skill points and limit your character for a relatively minor benefit in vendors and be constantly having to tend them DAILY. Oh and NEVER take a Break cos they wont be there when you return after that 2 weeks in Hawai

Lets reduce the number of vendors by all means and make all the ones that exist Active and Viable. A laudable solution yes but the merchant limits make The Viable Bit - Difficult if not impossible.

I would just like to say that Sony has given me one thing. A truely new experience: considering Microsoft to be the lesser of two evils.

If they must limit vendors then give us a reasonable number like 500 items per vendor or something.

And if they insist on calm, constructive conversations then they should not start the discussion with a kick to our groin.

What could would crates of 100 do us? Really no one buys 100 harvs. 10 harvs would be great but I sell more single harvs than I would crates of 10! Even then I have to make heavy's, medium, and personal. On top of that you have to include houses, cities, and guild items! Ridiculous!

I'm glad this is finally getting fixed. Course like everybody, i'm unhappy about the limits. Could the devs not implement a Master Crafter Bonus? ie let us have 200 more items per vendor if you reach master architect, or 100 more items for master WS, etc.

Even if this goes live, I don't think i'll have a problem with it, will have to scrap the plans to sell furniture in mass, and i'm not too happy about that, but i'll live. Economy is going to be garbage for a while and the number of lot trades between servers is going to increase 10 fold to provide for houses for storage for combat types. Cannot image that will do much for the database.

our stuff is not the only thing made in the factories.... and this doesnt say that you have to make a full 100.... items..

also wait till you make a large run of walls... 1000 walls.. 100 stacks of 10 unit crates.... see where I am going with this..

and the idea is that you could stack items up to the 100 unit cap... Place them on the vendor.. ( thus using 1 item spot ) and set a PER item price.... you buyer come to my vendor select the stack of 100 units at xxxx price per unit.. a prompt comes up asking how many units do you want..?? 1-100..... you say how ever many you want...... and walla ... pretty simple.. for seller and buyer...

I suggested something similar in the Merchant forums. If they allowed for crates to be put into a vendor and then its up to customer to decide on the quantity, I'll be more receptive to limits being placed.

However, the vendor limits must be higher if your Master Merchant; i.e, one who actually has the SP spent for it. That, or you get a 7th vendor at Master Merchant. Something has to given for dedicating that many points.

I don't want to have additional vendors. Why should I have to pay double the vendor maintainenceto put the same amount of items up for sale? I'm fine with just one vendor thank you. My weaponsmith does well just two (one outside of Bestine and Coronet respectively). I don't want to have to pay for two vendors for my architect and four for my weaponsmith, nor do I wish to make multiple trips just to keep the darned things restocked. I hate to play armchair Dev, but can't they fix their database issues some other way??

While I'm completely against the idea of limits, your ideas on stacking identical serial items, and increasing the crates to 100 for everything are very good ones. I'd love to see both of this implimented, but not at the cost of limiting my vendor space.

Many people are going to get stuck destroying tons of stuff to fit everything in their lots now. I for one have alts, but not everyone is so fortunate, and having an alt should NOT be a requirment for crafting.

Two Words: Social Interaction

The whole point of this, this merchant 'nerf' is so that we talk to eachother. Same with no more recursive macros. This means no more buffbots, no more identical sets of everything, doctors that have a macro that says: pay up, no more starports that are full but empty. IT IS A Massively MULTIPLAYER Online Roleplaying Game! Devs are making the NPC's harder. They are trying to kill solo-groups. Its all about Social Interaction!!!

This just made my list of all time stupid things I've ever seen on these boards. I cannot BELIEVE that you could possibly bring this up in a discussion about vendor item limits in the architect thread. Are you completley daft? This game isn't designed around people standing around in a friggin starport manually spamming that they are selling XYZ. Its about being able to craft items and for the other people to not have to run around trying to find a live player to sell them XYZ. Its a certain level of acceptable convenience. Forcing people to find me online every time to buy something forces me to be online.

SOE doesn't give a rats ass how long we are online, so long as we pay the $15 a month. They'd be happier if we WEREN'T on alot, since that would reduce the server load. Which is the whole point of this nerf... reducing database loads.

I've spent half the day talking to other crafters in the mall I just joined, and they all agree with me. This isnt' worth fighting. If SOE is so out of touch with their customer base as to even suggest this, much less implement it, then it may be time to move on.

Flaming is not necessary. We're all unhappy about this proposed vendor limit but lets not get turn it into personal attacks against each other.
