go ahead and drop it into artisan, and give the player cities buildings to replace that and the construction trees and dont make us waste points on some elite elite profession that should have originally been part of the arthicech class to begin with.

new item limits suck so... why would anybody object to this now?

HEHE. but seriously, if there were ever a need for this, now would be the time.

OR, make furniture have 0 volume which would both help our profession and allow people to decorate thier houses.

(but we all know this most likely wont happen because they want to reduce overall items in teh game)

That is a very good idea. On both parts, but sadly we are the forgotten profession to the devs because i think they are trying to reduce the amount of things a player carrys/owns so i bet this will fall on deaf ears if on any ears at all.

I've sold over 10k in furniture today. I disagree and wait for a fix.

I get requests to make furniture all the time.

However, I don't care for making furniture, but I will if someone needs it.

I want to make buildings instead.

I don't think they should move it, though.

I wasnt implying that absolutely nobody wants furniture.

It was more like, once people figure out that they lose available item acount in thier house, the determination will be...

"do i keep my furniture and lose 50 or so of my limit? Or do i drop my furniture and place another backpack because i need storage more than furniture?"

With all the new buildings coming in, furniture overall will be on the decline, and construction tree being completely worthless. It wouldnt be hard to drop all of the new player buildings into the architech tree rather than create some super duper elite elite class for us to spend more skill points on. And they already said they are not coming up with an alternative method for the elite elite classes. You will have to be a pure something or other or you cant really benefit from the full scope of the new profession.

Besides, once the urban planner comes out, it will be a matter of time before every city has what they need and that profession will also be wasted on stuff people wont have a dynamic need for.

Just some Virtual food for though. Have a good virtual lunch. hehe.

Well, I am one who is looking forward to the Elite professions such as Urban Planner. And heres the reasons why.

  1. They are not going to give us more skill points.

  2. You are going to have to be a Master Architect to do it.

  3. If they keep the same pattern to points as they have already then those that REALLY want to be a UP will do it, and not alot of fly-by-night UP's like we saw with Architecture, because folks won't want to give up their other skills to do it.

I have no combat skills, all my points are taken up with crafting. I'll drop Tailor like a heartbeat to be a Urban Planner, and that will be good for me. I think Architects that go UP will have a good time, there won't be all that many.

I am going for UP as well, but what scares me the most is... With all my points dedicated into architech, artisan, and UP, and merchant what happens the day that our elite professions are no longer viable?

It will happen. Because without decay on structures, people will get what they need from us, and then everybody will be happy. They wont have any more needs for architechs and Urban planners.

With having to drop my fighting skills, i will no longer be able to make money semi quickly on missions and will truely be forced to use my primary professions as a permenent source of income. But that will only go so far without some type of Structure Repair service we can provide or Structure Decay.

But again, when the time comes that archtechs and urban planners are no longer needed, then what?

There are new subscribers all the time, people want different items all the time, many many people do not have houses or even know how to place a house, or what lots are that will eventually want them. Some people take a few too many days off and their house disappears. Its part of the game and cycle of the game. I am sure quite a few architects will quit because they are frustrated. I see people quit every day, I see new people starting the profession every day. Weapons and armor do not wear out that fast, they can not also disappear the way structures can if you don't log in for a few days and not pay maintenance. I agree, at some point there will be a ton of furniture out there already, at which point we will go back to making houses or other types of furniture. Most houses I have been in have mostly tier - 1 furniture still that will want the higher tier furniture when they see it.

As for how many items you can place in a house, I have fully decorated my house, as well as store all my resources in there (40 harvestors worth), all my hides, other items I am working on, and all of my friends items, and I still havent reached even 100 items in the house. What is everyone doing to fill up the space in their house? I guess if I never deleted the extra 17 units of a resource that was used up it would add up over time.

Please stop asking for devs to take things away. Shoudn't we be asking them to fix problems, and add new stuff to our profession? There's no reason that they can't add more stuff to the any line (Furniture, Construction, Installations, Buildings) and rename that line.

I know you have a personal crusade to remove furniture from the tree, andmeaning well by asking for it. Frankly I make more money off of furniture than other trees, it's the only thing that keeps me afloat.

Imagine if the devs just took out Furniture all together, and put in another useless tree like Construction? Would that make you happy? I doubt it, you'd want something to replace it. Then they'd have to find another place to put Furniture. Why not keep Furniture and add more?

The idea of moving or removing furniture seems to keep originating from the same person(s) over and over. I have a feeling that posting it repeatedly along with responding to posts as if those who don't mind furniture are idiots probably isn't going to change anyone's opinion.

Like a lot of Architects, I am frustrated with the recent changes as well as some of the other issues that plague our profession. Furniture makers were impacted, although based upon this thread it's clear they aren't dead.

I think we need to give the Devs time to respond to our issues and begin the communication process before such a drastic change as removing/moving an entire branch from the Architect line is suggested. We aren't the only hurting profession and I'm interested to hear what plans the Devs have in store for us before I'm up for reengineering the Architect profession.

look, its not dead. YET.

But how are you going to feel when everybody has what they want and dont need you to make furniture or structures anymore? Pretty upset because the skill has become worthless.

as for constantly bringing this idea up, this is the Second Time I have brought this up. It was really suposed to be more sarcastic than anything else especially for all those that took the time to flame the idea the first time.

Droids Die, Weapons break, armor wears out, food is eaten, not sure about tailor issues, but the bottom line is.... OUR STUFF DOESNT BREAK.

Putting in a elite elite class will only guarentee that the few people who take master architech and then UP will be the only ones who will be able to play the profession a little further until everybody has thier permenant city structures.

New people wont have a chance as an architech when these worlds become alot more stable. People will have all the heavy harvesters they need, and have all the houses they want. Our stuff lasts forever.

The profession is more broken that you would like to admit and i hope one day you all will see it.

your absolutely right in that the skill is a mid term profession and that once people have what they want it will be over for us.

As for removing furniture, thier is merit to what he says. artisans do infact only have a couple of things that people need on a constant basis and the fact that most elite crafters already have master artisan only makes matters worse.

This could help that class out, but at the same time you would be taking away from the architechs. But at the same time you are also giving much more to architechs.

ITs really a win win situation for every class without the need for some super elite class coming out of the wood work bringing in more bugs when its obvious we cant even get our profession squared away before they go expanding on it.

Its a shame really. Im not flaming anybody who is against him, but some of you really should open your eyes to the bigger picture here. hes right on several statements and unless they do something about it, the architech profession will die sooner than later.

This is your opinion and you are entitled to it. Based on my own observations as well as the posts from other Architects, I think you are wrong.

Besides, getting rid of furniture from the Architect profession would fall under the wishlist category. As anyone who reads this board knows, you are adamantly opposed to doing anything considered "wishlist".
