Thread: When are we getting the new Architect Correspondent?
Padre
We have a line of experimentation on factories called 'Efficency' that is zeroed out--what if that wasn't, how much could you sell a Wearables factory that was merely 10% faster than a regular one--100k, 200k? I know I could sell 100's of factories at 100k if I could make them even 10% faster at Master with the best resources available. He has done a fair job, but he is still in the mindset of the first month of the game.
What about claims about holo-grinding architects flooding the market, hmm not on Intrepid, they buy big stacks of gems and ore and make statues in practice mode, where is the flooding there? I've help at least 3 people hologrind architect, none of which in that way or which involved flooding the market with cheap goods (here's crates of structure modules, stacks of ore and metal, make walls, put in factory, train, repeat--and that's only one technique).

I'd have to agree with Padre here... Our correspondant is stuck in the SOE time-loop and addressing issues that have no relevance today.
I also think it annoying to have to go to another hosted site to read whatsomeone thinks my issues are. If you can format HTML on that page, why not format it here? Can't even hyper-link it for me to click it.
And most of the problems ArchAngel has with architect seems to originate from Item Placement. Like rotating items, moving items, and z-axis issues. Then there are the functionality issues, like a Lamp doesn't illuminate, or an outdoor balcony is worthless, or what is a Data Terminal good for.
It seems like AA wants to be an Interior Designer and not an Architect. Most of the items on the list are regarding Interior Design, of which an Architect has no skill.
I just hope the next correspondant sticks to Architect issues like the Solars capping at 8 and a Wind capping at 9. Or critical fails that still eat the resources. Or any number of issues with the Architect career not brought up in that webpage of Architect Issues.
The bigger concerns are far more relevant, like medium harv recipies that requires 3 structural modules for one type and 3 walls for another type. Get rid of Similar, it means nothing now. Make schematics that dont require identical to not store serials.
To top it off.. I really don't care if someone shoved a tree or fountain into wall of thier house and can't get it back. You have a feature in your house to retrieve any item lost to this now. And if that doesn't work, I'm sure the Architect won't mind making another one. I don't care if couches sit one person. None of this relates to the Architect career in any way. It's part of the underlying problems on SWG, not the career.
I just hope the next correspondant sticks to Architect issues. That's all.
well, all else aside, his last post was that he was going away for the holidays and would be back on the 5th. he was back on the 5th because he logged onto these boards but did not make a post... click his name to see this info.
i hope he and his family are all ok and that nothing is wrong... but either way, he is close to being called MIA. the show must go on as they say.
we cant afford to stagnate here without an active correspondent.
As far as those two with a bone to pick on house decay. Put me on the bandwagon that some form of decay is needed to regenarte (even for harvesters, as saturation is imminent). Just because money is being made from a line, does not mean that it is ok to ignore the other.
Also this is in now way is a reason to ask for a new correspondent. Last time the issue was put up for debate, it was fairly split even. I was on the side of no decay, now I am on the side of some form of decay. If others have changed their mind one way or the other, then it needs to be rediscussed.
Asking for a correspondce's resignation, or worst, outright removing him from position as on of the posters suggests, is preposterous and nothing more than an Agenda. Discuss before you ask for someone's head. Specially someone who has served the profession well. I am sure if it is discuss and the opinnion has swayed another way, then Archangel will have our voices heard.

Mr. VideoManiac, those issues are NOT "Archangel's Issues" those are issues that were brought up by the Architect community in this forum at the time the webpage was made. Does it need updated? Yes. But dont misrepresent what that website is. You and Padre have issues? Good, bring them up for discussion. Quit the misrepresentation.
Ok, I remember back then too. Guess what every single architect on here has a problem with? Storage, house items limits, inadequate number of lots, inability to stack similar items (structure modules, walls, anyone?), and so forth. Every single one of us has problems with these issues, but is that our main focus no it isn't, yet there have never been that many furniture producers on Intrepid at least, so why is that more important?
House decay--do you guys really want to make people mad at our profession, just ask yourselves that when the vendor nerf goes in and a majority of stocked vendors go to empty land. Guess what I'll still be able to make heavy harvestors for doctors and hologrinders--how about you? As for repeat business I have quite a few customers that I've sold them entire sets (for all of their and their alts/partners lots) of Heavies several times (yes they went on vacation, had real life issues, something and needed to replace them). Those of you that ask for House Decay in particular, only ask for House Decay--no 'if this' 'if that' because that's not how SOE implements changes, there will be NO salvage furniture arraignment, no saving rare items from destruction, no recovery of excess maintenance from a critical house decay, no salvaging a vendor with 10 million in inventory on it, nothing, just your house goes away faster and unstoppable (or your factory with all your resources, or your pa hall with it's elaborate decorations--explain that to your guildmates). Sounds like a good plan to you? You can bet that people on my server will be reading these threads to see which of you thought that would be a good idea because making harvestors and factories is too much a bother for most architects (and it has been since before we could make high rate harvestors). Fortunately Intrepid Architects aren't the rocket scientists that think that is a good thing.

I guess that was because I called out people on decay.
If you can't grasp the magnitude of the problems with this concept, try posting on your home Server's forum why it's really a great idea. Then you might begin to understand. If you aren't willing to sell the idea to your own server then it isn't a good idea. Simple as that.

Honestly, I dont think its so much that he's "stuck in the past", as it is that he just hasnt been posting. I think you're basing your opinions on a webpage that is months old, and at the time it was made, those were the pertinent issues as determined my a consensus in these forums.
However, his extended absence does indicate to me that its time for a change. He did a great job while he was here, and I certainly appreciate all the work he did for the profession, but we havent seen any profession-related posts from him in a month, and the fact that he hasnt even logged into the boards for over 2 weeks tells me that its time to pass the torch.

That is why I said if you have issues, bring them up for discussion on its own merits. It is disengenious to ask for someone's head when all they were doing was expressing the views of this forum, at that time.
I see. So because he choose to list what was the Top 5 as determined by a general consensus in the forums at the time vs your opinion as to what they should be, thats a reason to boot him. Rather egotistical, don't you think? His job as correspondant ISto communicate to the devs the feelings from the whole community, not just yours.
But again, I believe that his lack of attention to the architect community in recent weeks ISa valid reason to seek a new correspondant.
