This is a warning to all Architects on the Corbantis server. Watch out for a character named Semo. Last night he approched me to build a guild hall for him. He wanted the Hall inside of two hours. I informed him that I could not fulfill his wishes, as I had neither the ability to churn out a guild hall in two hours, nor the resources in stock to build one. He insisted that I buld him a Hall.

I warned him that My halls are 350k, and I would require a 100k safety deposit. I would be willing to send him a list of the resources I was lacking, and any resources he provided, I would subtract from the final cost. He sent me the deposit. I sent him the list. I told him that I would start in the morning, as it was 1:30am where I was and would be logging off. He sent me a very threatening set of /tells that said "this is so childish, if you don't give me my hall or my money back, i'm gonna report you to SOE for scamming me".

I had no time to reply, asI logged off rights as he sent it, but the next day I recieved an in-game email from him, informing me that he reported me to SOE for stealing 100k from him. I replied, saying that A.) the money was given to me as a deposit, till I finished the hall, or he backed out of the deal. B.) his impatience was unfortunate, but I had warned him that a guild hall would take me several days to build. and C.) that I considered this threat and hostile action to end our business transaction.

He contacts me later that day, telling me his roommate was playing last night, and apologized. however, five minutes into the conversation, he starts ranting about his money and continues his "i reported you" threats. I told him that I am not willing to conduct business with him any longer, and suggested he find another architect. He sent a strong string of expletives, and I promptly put him on my /ignor list.

If you see this child, don't deal with him. It is of course your choice, but plese consider his previous actions toward fellow architects. At least raise your prices.

Thank you for listening to my story.

I have not. There is a risk involved in a 100k deposit, but it doesn't require as much trust as 350k does. I'm trusting him to pay me for my services. If I immediately told him "HAHA sucker! i have your money now Mwahaha" then he has every right to report me. I didn't tdo this. I helped him find resources to drop the price of his guild hall. I explained the different types of resources to him (he didn't seem to know the difference between fiberplast and polymer). I tried to help him.

However, The safety deposit was for MY safety, not his. I wasn't intested in building a guild hall. I told him this up front. I requested he find someone else. I told him that the deposit was non-refundable. He ended the transaction by telling me "have fun with the money, i'm reporting you for scamming me" after half an hour of crafting. I went and bought 20k ore to finish the resource recipie for the hall, at 5CPU. So I'm out 100k for my trouble. He bragged about his 26 million credit bank account, So i'm not felling guilty about keeping the credits to possibly teach a child with an Ebay-inflated account a lesson on manners.

Not buying your story pal! Your two posts are just a bit too different.

You should never have accepted the money (bad business practise), you should have walked away and put him on ignore. You're reacting to his childish behavior be being childish yourself. Rise above that and return his money.

cheeseburger, My posts are exactly the same. I copy/pasted them.

after reviwewing the feedback. I am still going to go ahead and finish the hall. wether he buys it off my server or not isn't my problem. Someone will buy it.

The lesson thing I mentioned isn't a motivation to keep the money, just an added note. I'm not his parents, I don't care either way.

I told him up front that deposits are non-refundable. It's also in my bio. It's not my fault he threw a temper tantrum when he didn't get his way, after knowing the rules.

Now you see why most archs won't build PA halls.

PersonallyI will build all the components, since we can use them anyway, then we meet at my station and I'll build it. No deposit, unless THEY want to.

Yea I'm pretty new to arch 3422 and already I won't build many things(unless for a friend) because they just take way to many resources and it's not worth the risk(money problems, criticals) and such. You may have done this, but I think you should've said ok it's 100k up front non-refundable. If you said that and he agreed then he has nothing on you because it's now in the chat logs the devs keep.

hmm.. You know I read and reread your post here and If I was going to beware about anyone one, it would be you. I see your not taking the ethical high ground and you are no better then, as you call him "child with an Ebay-inflated account"

I hate to tell you, your not winning over any supporter here.

The right and ethical thing to do is return his is money, or finish the sale.

Fell free to whine some more about this, but from the sounds of it you took him. There are something things that don't add up. Unless you’re the only architect on the server, if he wanted the PA Hall with in 2 hours, why would he place an order with you, when you’re lacking the resources to make it? Then you continue on saying your out 100k for troubles by picking up 20k of ore at 5cpu so you could finish the construction job? Oh wait but your also keeping his 100k a non-refundable deposit? But then that doesn’t make sense as your keeping his deposit, so what your really saying is you got 20k of ore out of the deal.

A quick recap from where I’m sitting after reading your posts.

This guy comes to you and says he wants a PA hall in 2 hours. You ask him to go to someone else, as you don’t have the resources to make one at this time. Yet he still orders one from you, paying 100k up front as a deposit and you’ll need him to supply you with the resources your missing and if he does he will get a discount on the final price. You have to log and he claims you ripped him off and he going to report it. Some time later that day after you log back in, he lies about that it was his roommate how was playing and continued to scream about how your ripped him off. Along the way you put him on the /ignore list and now your not dealing with him. As he paid the his non-refundable deposit upfront your keeping it and going to turn around and sell the pay hall you finished after your using they guys deposit to pick up the ore you need to finish it. Then you continued on some rant about how your justify doing what you did.

Did I miss anything?

no way it should take 2 or three days to build a PA Hall? You are the scammer here he asked for his money back before you started anything? You should have tipped him his money back when he ask. If you can not keep enough stuff in stock for a PA hall you should not sell one to someone that is in a hurry. The first thing he said was he is in a hurry what part of that did you not understand.

Thank god your not on my server.

You will never make it as architect. If you give him his money back then you won't as big a loser as he is acting.... The deposit is for product created but not purchased. You did not make so you are not out anything and you are not "Stuck" with a PA Hall.... Do the right thing
