Thread: Did New Experimentation Kick In Already????????

Hmm, I just made a BER14 Fusion using the following resources
Gofoe Duralloy Steel - UT993, SR969, HR952 (weight of 976.75)
Bohap Katrium Ore - UT925, SR938, HR984 (weight of 943)
El rubbisho Lube Oil - OQ800 something (no UT/SR or HR stats)
And from this, I only got to experiment too 7 bars out of 11 (previously I got all 11 bars to experiment with on hopper size). I then had a crit fail on the middle experiment hop and ended up using all my points to get a Fusion with a hopper size of 120k only (I normally get 145k).
Strange days indeed.
It sort of seems to me that the use of lube oil may have gone out the window *shudders at the thought*.

That's just wrong. What % were your HHUs experimented to? I've got 95% HHUs and my floras hit BER13 at ~80%.
There have been other reports of weird harvester experimentation. Maybe there some rare set of circumstances that cause problems?
I'm using 94% OMUs, HHMs, and TFDPs.
I always use lubricating oil in final assembly. No stat is better than good stats in general, though there are a few exceptions. Harvesters are not one of those exceptions.
My ore and steel are 900+ in HR/SR/UT. I supplement with iron with similar stats to stretch the mileage I get from the amount of steel I harvested.
I experiment on extraction twice, 4 points at a time, and spend the remaining two points on storage. Eight points of extraction, if I get greats, yields 83%. For me, with these resources, this is 13BER each and every time. An amazing on one of the four-point experiments yields 87%.
I live in a city with the Research Center bonus. I have a robe with +4 to experimentation. I use +15 tools and a +43.50 station. I see "good" successes once in a blue moon. I see CFs on about 1/6 of the experiments, and amazings at a similar rate.
In a nutshell, if you're getting to 92% and still at 12BER, I'd say check your heavy harvesting mechanisms.

the harvesting mechanisms are not new....
i made a couple of hundred a couple of months ago...i do big runs of the pumps and ore and harvetsors.....
they are BER 6.....and in the past they have always given me 13s with the occasional 12 when i get good/ great...
the reason i think the new experimentation kicked is because my final combine is at 92-93% that should definaly be a 13 from past experience...
I have never need skill tapes and exp bonuses to get good results. i dont think i want to have to spend a few million to buy a skill tape just to get results i have always gotten.
i cant really remeber the % of the HHMs but i beleive they are 94-96%
do you think the game really tracks whether or not our subs are 88% or 92% or 94% or does it just look at the BER

I believe that the percentage of the components IS kept track of, and that the "BER" display on the subs is fairly useless.
I think it's pretty much agreed by most veteran architects around here that there's a difference between an 80% BER6 and a 95% BER6, even if we don't see it. Still, if you think you got your subcomps to ~95% and your final to 93%, you should have a BER13.
I'm starting to run out of the turbines I used in several schematics, so I've got to start ramping up for another couple days of deed schematic prep work. I'll let you know how it turns out.
