Thread: Museum paintings... do you think the devs intended factory runs?

The paintings are great! They are my biggest seller on my vendors. But I have to wonder if the devs intended this. The schematic costs 48k, which told me they wanted the paintings to be semi rares. Theortically, it costs 48000 credits to make 2 of them... selling price should be 24000 each to break even.

I started this way. Bought 3 schematics with the idea of making 6 paintings. Then I discovered I could use just one use of the schematic and make 1000 of them in a factory! The first painting I ran 130 of them. For the new second one, I ran 200. I'm only limited by the amount of hides I have in a stack!

These are really cool and unique decorations and in other games with paintings, (ultima online) they are rares and very valuable. Should these things really be a dime a dozen, common enough that you could wallpaper a house with them?

I make a very good living off these and they sell like they are going out of style at 20k each! But I have to wonder how long it will be before the market is saturated by anyone with a structure factory and the hides sell for more than the paintings.

6k for an item that takes 100-250 resources to make? Thats 24-60 cpu. How is that a problem?

/my 2 cents...

There are plenty of other 'object d'art' that can be preserved as 'rare' for you purists. These paintings represent another furniture item for Architects to complement the other house decorations. I believe they intended for them to be available in their current method of delivery and not placed as yet another item to be enjoyed by those with way to much money. These paintings are not the Monet's of SWG...they are the "Bulldogs Playing Poker" to be enjoyed by the common man/woman. There can be other paintings and objects for the 'rich' to obtain to preserve their elite status.

/agree

SOE is trying to give us architects more revenue, and trying to diversify the decorating options within our houses. also huge stacks of hide take a bit of effort to get a hold of.

Tadpoole.

Go to Bestine and visit the museum building there. There is a curator in a side room. He'll sell you a 2 use schematic for 48k. (you can buy a few if you want spares) It requires furniture III skill to learn the schematic. You can then make a manufacturing schematic with them. The paintings take 100-250 resources per item and need someting like mineral, fiberplast and hide. Resource requirements vary from one painting to another.

Mar, Isander and myself have all been selling them in Kettemoor for 16k each painting.

Another question. From what I have been reading there are now two different schematics? Has the first one been removed from the game or will I be able to procure it as well? If not is there someone who could sell me a couple of the first one?

Yes there are now 2 different schematics available on each server with more coming about once a month.

I don't believe you can buy the 1st schematicany longer.

With the player turnover I think these will climb in value. Also, those who stashed a schematic or two in their vault might make a good deal of money in 3-6 months.

I have mixed feelings. I think it is nice we have something new that rotates that we can sell. I also agree the market is getting flooded with them. I think factory runs are needed, but the run should be limited to 20-50 per schematic use, not 1000.

Why do so many people insist on taking things the wrong way on these forums. I was not saying these things should be more rare so only the rich could buy them... I was asking if they were implemented as the DEVs intended them to be. If they had been intended to be as common as chairs, then I would think they would have made them a granted schematic like the shellfish tool artisans got recently. What sense does it make to have a schematic with only 2 uses if it was not meant to limit production?

Look at the other limited use schematics out there... crafters aprons; 3 uses, requires special materials.

Sure, I'm happy I can make them by the crate... they sell like mad! I just don't think thats what was intended when they made them only have 2 uses.

To run 1000 copies of a painting you need over 60K of a particular hide. Getting this is not easy and only skilled merchants will be able to gather this much of one type.

I sell them at 6K each on the bazaar. There's no reason to charge more for them. I'm in the customer service business. I've only run a couple of hundred of them. Unfortunately, I don't have time to go to the bazaar every couple of days to place 25 paintings there.

Why can't I place a galaxy bazaar in my city? hehe
