Someone just told me merchant tents are for player cities only. Is this true? i was under the impression that anyone could place a merchant tent anywhere...

I have seen a merchant tent not in a player city on the Ahazi server.

They can be placed in any buildable area. I put one up outside my shop. Not anyone can place them, though. Takes Efficiency IV from the Merchant Tree to place them. Other than that, they're pretty cool. Act just like a small house. You can even make them your residence.

Blink. Blink. I'm still trying to wrap my head around declaring one as a residence.

What's the maintenance cost like? Does it have a ban list? Can you drop anything other than a vendor into it? And can you transfer it to someone who doesn't have Efficiency IV?

Are you sure? is this your personal experience, or second hand experience? My wife is a tailor on Corbantis (Boboski), and she really was excited about merchant tents...

I have tried to build one in the no-build zone. No dice.

I have experimented with dropping one in buildable areas, but never actually placed the deed. It looks like it'll go most anywhere a house will go. It's just got a smaller footprint.

I have built and placed one. On the Intrepid Server. I have Effiency IV in the Merchant line on top of being a Master Architect. My wife and I love it. It basically acts like a very small house. Not much room in it. I do not think you could even put a crafting station in it. We just have 4 Vendors in ours. I was gonna experiment with how Many Items it could hold within the next few days. We are not in a Player City zone.

I can confirm this, as well. The tent is in all aspects simply another small house with no door. You can even drop items in it like you would a normal house. There were fewer options in the console than a normal house, and I do not think it can be made private. In order to build it, architects use a slew of their usual resources (friend who made mine didn't say what exactly he used), but the thing does require both normal fiberplast panels and also reinforced fiberplast panels. One of the Dev posts made quite some time ago mentioned that vendors would be allowed to be placed in Player Cities, and I think this is exactly what he had on his mind when he said that.

You can place the tents anywhere. Tried it near entha on tatooine and now have it on dantooine.

You have to have merchant effciency 4 to place it: Maintenance is about 8 per hr.(is only 1 lot)

You can make it a residence in a player city, allowing you to vote for mayor.

Crafting the fibreplast panels can be individual, but the reinforced fibreplast panels must be from a factory crate.

You can put friends onto your admin to allow them to place vendors, But there is only enough room to put three vendors.

There seems to be a bug where when items are placed, vendors included they disappear. They do reappeasr some 20-30 mins later. Sometime you have to do a complete log.

Once the tent is placed can it then be transfered to a player that doesn't have effciency 4?

Good to know about the vendor bug - I placed a tent South of Coronet last night and dropped a vendor in it - I left for a minute and came back and it was gone. Hopefully I'll see it tonight back where I had placed it. I would think that if you can transfer the tent to someone without efficiency 4 after you place it that would be considered a bug - but I would be interested in someone testing this as well. I will as soon as I can get someone I know to the location. Have you actually tested the 3 vendor limitation? Are you saying that this is a physical limitation? Or a game limitation? I will test that tonight as well but it looked as if I had room for 4 or 5 in there lined up along the walls...
