I have different opinions on the subject of best race and was unable to form an opinion in the 20 minutes I got to play before the servers went down (but that is another story). I want to be a medic that goes for combat medic and like either of two races:

Wookie = Better overall stats (esecially secondary ones).

Zabrak = Better Willpower.

Which do you think is best?

(PS. I like both races equally from an RPG view, and would like to play either)

keep in mind wookie = no armor as well

play whatever you want to look at for a long time, you can adjust your stats to be good with any race

Don't forget, this isn't a class system.

So be careful to take into account any other professions you want ot play with medic as well. A person can take all three medic profesions (Medic, Combat Medic, and Doctor), and even with the outside prereqs for Combat Medic (Combat Support)... still have some points left for other skills.

I have played or seen every species as a measter medic.. I have seen just about all of them as a Master Doctor (even a Trando).

Most people in beta didn't do CM and Doc though.. it is a ton of points to specialize in that much healing.

Stat migratiuon outside the tutorial is kinda slow, but most people will evolve their stats to suit their play style.

I have known medics that don't even have their Max possible Mind stat, but oparate off of very high mind regen rates.

The concensus among Medics in beta was that there was no one profession that was that much better than the others for a Medic. I saw a lot of Wookies, Zabrak, Mon Cal, Bothans, Trandos (the regen bonus helps them a lot), etc. I don't recall ever seeing a Rodian, but my impression was that they were rare no matter the profession.

SO, play what looks fun to you. With the exception of the Wookie stats, everyone is about the same since you can migrate pretty freely. Humans do get an experimentation bonus, that was the only skill bonus that looked like it would be relevant.

Ok, I will add to this. I played a Trandochan medic during beta and plan on playing the same one again for real. Here is the deal.

1) Pick race you think looks cool

2) Mitigate all the blue stats to full

3) Mitigate all action and health stats to the max you can get them

Don't worry about the other 4

The last one in each category represents your regen. Since, your going to regen your health and action off your stimpacks, you don't need to actually have a regen. Your mind is another story, Nothing we can do will make that regen faster, so it must be maxed.

Well a human female probably ups your chances for tips. Besides that any of them work. If your going CM I would suggest a race besides them so you can wear armor due to the fact you'll be facing combat often enough. In the beginning the wookie will look better but in the long run with armor it will end up losing out.

The human experimentation bonus only counts for artisan stuff not medic stuff.

I found Zabrak to be a great race for healing, In beta I was a zabrak medic/TKA and the +400 willpower was notably beneficial, I would reccomend Zabrak or Mon Calamari for a medic and use stat migration to further increase the mind/focus/willpower.

Zabrak = willpower +400

Mon Calamari = mind +300, focus +300, willpower +150

I would recommend Zabraks, willpower is the most important stat IMO, and equilibrium is very useful when your mind pool is running low

Which race would be best suited for a marksman // rifleman ?

Zabrak would likely be the best race as they have an inherently better resistances vs state effects that are caused by other ranged attacks (like dizziness) and they have a higher Mind pool regeneration which woudl help a rifleman as they specialize in Head/Mind shots.

I forgot to add that certain races are particularly more vulnerable as sniper targets; Wookies and Trandoshans. The average Wookie and Tranny tend to have low Mind pools and high Health pools. A sniper is going to Head Shot you 9 out of 10 times and when that Mind pool goes to zero, you're incapped regardless of your 1250 Health points. Also remember that Rifleman (Snipers) are the only profession that gets a ranged Deathblow. Pistoleers and Carbineers are still going to have to walk up to their incapped victim and finish them off.

BTW,I play a human.
