Thread: Crafting Macro?
I have read various things about people creating crafting macros for grinding. If you have one would you mind posting it?
Since they screwed over every prospective masterartisan/whatever with the factory Xp change and are going to continue to allow those who were able to take advantage to continue to sell their credits on ebay for $200 a shot, I need something.
Personally this whole change is just plain stupid. To reach top level of just fiearms under weaponsmith one needs 77,000 weapons crafting Xp to go from the 3rd level. If it takes say 30 seconds to click through the crappy designed crafting windows to make a blaster that gives you at best 50 Xp, it would take you 77,000+ minutes. 60 minutes in an hr, 24 hrs in a day, it would take you 53+ days on non-stop, crafting of the perfect blaster. Not to mention you need time to get the resources and actually interact with the game universe, like go on missions occasionally. And all this does is get you up one level... not a whole class or profession.
Morons are running this game and ruining it!
Atleast if I can find a macro that will craft junk, I can set the thing to craft and mine at the same time while I am at work and asleep. It may take me 2 years still to reach master weaponsmith, but atleast I won't lose a hand clicking away all day and all night long.
Really, do they think people want to pay them $15 a month to click through menus 24/7? To me, I want to be able to play and interact with the world around me while doing some leveling up too.
Sorry for the rant, I am just getting fed up with them nerfing professions they should have nerfed in beta instead of fixing one of the 430298753094753098425943892 bugs in the game.
There is no macro to "auto-craft" while you are working or asleep or whatever that I know about. There is one to speed through the last steps after placing the materials but it does not work with the new practice checkbox (so you WILL get an item and WILL NOT get the bonus exp)
Grinding by hand isn't really all that bad, personallyI don't see what the big fuss is*shrug* I don't mind having to work for skill, makes it more meaningful when you do achieve it. When I see a master weaponsmith I'd like to think ... wow there's somebody who really put in a lot of time and effort to get where he is, not ... wow there's somebody with a lot of cash who can run factories for 16 hours and pop out instant master weaponsmith
Sounds like you chose the wrong base profession - crafting in most mmorpgs is a long, tedious process. Compared to certain games, SWG lets you reach the top in no time at all. We've already got master weaponsmiths after a month, the game is meant to last for years!
Try out some other things, do some destroy missions, pick up some marksman skills and maybe become a scout and later a creature handler. Talk to some NPCs and find some new missions. Visit Jabba's palace and try to gain entry. Join a faction and get involved with the GCW and the upcoming story in-game.
If you don't like grinding xp crafting - don't do it. Do something else and just pickup your crafting tools whilst your sitting in camp or healing in a med centre. No point just pushing buttons mindlessly all the time - if you don't enjoy it - don't do it!
No one enjoys grinding. And I chose my profession (novice weaponsmith) based on the rules as the game was. For little or know reason they changed it. It was no more unbalanced than any other profession.
As for investing time in gaining Xp and master of a profession I believe it should... I don't think anyone should reach master in a month either. But I also am not blind enough to realize that through 12 months of testing they already knew this and purposefully jacked up the profession to either get a limitted number of masters out there or to benefit some friends so they could make some money on ebay, who knows. But this is something that should have been done in beta!
And as you can see through the math, it won't take you months, it would take you at least a year, more since no one can actually play 24/7. So unless they increased Xp for certain items by quite a bit, they have really hampered this game.
At the very least they should do one of 2 things. Create an easier to use crafting menu or Create items that give quite a bit more Xp... something that would give a couple of hundred would be nice.
Anyway back to the subject at hand. I have seen numerous comments about fully working craftin macro's, so I know they exist, I just can't find any list of commands to even attempt to write my own.
Your math is way off. You can grind through those 77,000 weapon crafting experience points in a approximately 4 hours. I've done it several times with projectile rifle barrels. It's mind numbingly boring but if you're in a hurray it can be done with a reasonable time expenditure.
Wow you can create 385 pistol barrels an hr by hand? You have mad skills friend, thats 6 or 7 per minute. I suppose it is a sort of possible since you can use steel for both slots, but the most crafters you could possibly click through fast enough is 3 before the first emtpies as you load the third. And at an average of 30 seconds per it is conceivable you could get 6 units produced per hr. and possibly seven. That however, is given you have NO failures, which is impossible. You click constantly for four straight hours, which would make your click finger stronger than Arnold's bicept. And you have the better eyes than anything living to be able to read menus and adjust to the constant brightness changes.
Are you a cyborg or something? I think thats more cheating than using a factory for Xp, shouldn't you atleast have to be human to play this game.
All kidding aside. I can see how you could crank that with 100% constant activity and 100% effectiveness. Which is unfortunatley not possible.

and if you have the resources. 77k exp would cost you 31k in resources (that's with our new 25% bonus!). I have been using projectile rifle barrels for exp from the start. I have 5 medium harvesters and 31k in resources takes me a while to get. But yes, if you have the resources grinding isn't that bad, you just have to be smart about what you make. I made about 20k exp last night to get me to advanced firearm crafting, I don't think it took more than 45 minutes.
Ikeemi - IK Weapons: 276, -5476 - Coronet, Coriella
I use plain ol' swords now without the sword core for 57 exp a pop.
Thats a 3.16 ratio.
If I used the core its 3.1 ratio.
Ya its only .06 more. However, it ism uch easier to jsut practice on the sword.
About the macro issue. There are people using them. Not sure if there is any real way to stop them.Could possibly randomize the location of the final create button. I will not tell you what macro program to use because I think using one is against the EULA.
At the same time its hard to blame new Weaponsmiths from using such things. The factories will no longer grind you, and you may have both work and school. Not to mention the process of grinding is to say the least "mind numbing."
To conlude, macroing is wrong. Until they find a way to track it down they need to allow quicker creation of weapons.
Either way THANK YOU for practice mode ![]()
Actually Milk's math is pretty close to what I can grind out in a 'grind' session. Except I whore out DLT20's (that I delete and not disperse out). Takes me approximately 20 seconds to pop out each component for them. I use the optional scope which adds to my xp total. Now with the 5% bonus, I figure I get about 500 xp per completed unit. I don't ever experiment as it cuts into my grind time. I can pretty well pump out a DLT20a by hand in about 1:20. Run that over a course of a hour and it's about 50 guns. At 500xp a pop, I theoretically get about 25k a hour. Now I factor in RL distrubances such as grabbing beer and yelling at the wife and I get about 40-45 a hour, which gives me 16-20k. I can only stand this for about 2 hours or til I pass out drunk as it's pretty intense hand-grinding. Little downtime for chit-chat...well...except the time I alot to yell at my wife lol.

I could do 5 or 6a minute using 3 crafting tools when it's not lagging at all, but the actual sustained rate is more like 3-4 a minute with the time spent answering tells, talking in guildchat, taking a break because it's horribly tedious, etc. 6-7/minwould bedoable using the text command macros and 4 tools, I didn't know about those and did it all manually.

Agree, I was grinding away almost 20,000 exp in an hour, same thing you were doing. I played 11 hours straight grinding these, and got all 4 boxes in melee crafting.
It can be done, I did it, and I have no PA or guild I am a solo player
