Thread: Suggestion: Construction raises number of available lots
When you consider the fact that an architect eats resources like there's no tomorrow, and needs a factory to build some of the higher end structures, the current limit of 10 lots seems a bit low. I managed to go through ten lots when Iwas still onEngineering IV. Merchants have the Management skill, which lets them place additional vendors, I say Construction should let architects place additional lots. I know this is supposed to be "a social game" where you can hypothetically rent out lots from your buddies if you so desired, but what about us poor soloing lone wolf types? Do I walk up to a total stranger and say "You look like a man with some lots to spare..." Some people are sure to point out that the increased industrial sprawl will lead to the game becoming one gigantic eyesore like UO.. But the planets are fairly large, resources fairly spaced out, and when vehicles are (hopefully) patched in, the extractors will not begin exactly at the 1000m line outside of cities, so what's the problem?
Come on Koster, how hard it is for you to crack the whip and have thecoders add Additional Lots +1 to every level of Construction?
I whole heartedly agree. If I am a master architect shouldn't I be at least a little better at building maintenance than (sorry, not trying to offend anyone) a gunslinger?
I think that the construction skill should be used as a base for a bump in number of lots as this the level of building knowledge you have. And for the extra lot at master architect......oh yeah, of course.
I like this idea a great deal. I would like to be able to have a PA hall and a factory at least, or a large home, a few harvesters and a factory.
I would suggest +1 lot per level of Construction and +1 Lot at Master Architect, for a total of 15 lots.
I used to think that 10 lots wasnt enough but it is easily enough. The bigger harvesters only take up 1 lot and give the return of lots of little ones. Work your way up installations and use real harvesters and not throw away ones.
A very self-sufficent architect only needs3 large on Carbonate Ore, and 1 large on any steel, aluminum or copper. The rest of the resources can be sampled by hand or bought form the bazaar. With a factory this still leaves4 lots which is plenty.
If you want to do without a medium house then you can add harvesters on Reactive gas, and the other 2 metals you dont have a large on. This only leaves Chemical which is hardly needed and you can sample enough for a month inan 8 hour session. The rest of the resources you need are trace amounts and can be harvested in an hour.
Leave it at 10 lots, just learn to use them wisely.

What is the cost to redeed after the resource runs dry?
"10 lots is plenty. Buy commodities."
I would if people werent charging x10 for things... I guess we need to wait for our market to settle down a bit on Natrius
