This has happened to me on 2 occasions so far and its a pure example on how messed up
our proffesion is.

Joe Resource Dealer: "Looking for resources?"
Me: "Sure, whatcha got and how much"
Joe: I have 20k Ore here for 80k
Me: Ouch. Sorry thats to rich for my blood
Joe: Ok, Just though I would check I have another buyer
Mek
Joe: Oh By the way how much for a Med Naboo house?
Me:60K
Joe: WHAT?! Are you NUTS! I can get them for 40k!
Me: Hmmm you want to sell me resources for 4cpu and buy my goods at 2cpu or less?
Joe: Its not my fault that most of you architects are stupid. Im going with the 40k one. Bye

This is why I stick to 4-5 CPU. Granted I dont sell much anymore but at least I have my dignity

Hehe or the guy who wants to trade you 2k of steel for a small house then wants to badger you since he's offering 10k of stuff for your 8k house and you aren't leaping to take it

Thats just crazy.

I tried to sell Fusions for 100K and was told i was nuts. A 2 weeks ago i was selling them like fire for 110K.

I PROCLAIM THIS A DEAD END PROFESSION

I am moving on.

The question that must be answered is, why would people sell such huge things at cost? Do they gather all of their own resources? How can they do this? Perhaps they are through with architecture, and are going out with a bang. If that's the case I wouldn't worry about them. There will always be isolated, screaming deals out there, the important thing is how the market stabilizes. If people are consistently selling fusions for under 100k, there must be a way to do it that every architect should know about. Otherwise, if someone says they can get one for 60k, just ignore them.

Yeah, I make structures solely for the purpose of running a mining operation for my friends and me now.

I don't even bother to sell my stuff now. Someone would ask me for a quote, I'll tell them my price. If they don't respond, fine with me. I am selling resources for 3 cr/unit on the bazaar WITHOUT critical failure. I can't be happier. I can care less about people telling me that my price of a structure at 3 cr/unit is too high. They can go eat **edit** for all I care.

This is a typical conversation I will have with someone who wants to buy something:

customer: what's the price of a small naboo house?

Me: my price for a small naboo house is 15K.

customer: er.....I have someone who is selling for lower (good for you! stop trying to compare price and pay that starving architect. I ain't starving so don'texpect me to beg for your business)-or-... that's too high! I have someone selling it for 7K! (hell, go find that person then, quite wasting my time) -or- My friend just got me one (right~ your "magical" friend just appeared from some lamp and gave you the stupid deed...did you have to rub that lamp good?)

Me: Ok. Good day and good luck.

Every one of you lowballing architects out there on starsider, feel free to undercutall the decent hard working architectselse. Please, by any means, DO undercut. Because I am making money selling steel/ore/copper to you fools out there for 3 cr/unit while you're selling your products for less than 3 cr/unit because you have that stupid mentality that you're grinding for xp and not for money.

On a side note, if you're an honest hard working SOLOINGarchitect (large PA architects need notapply)who would stick to the 3 cr/unit MIN. pricing rule, and is having a hard time making a living on Starsider. Please feel free to send me ( Karlithas )tells and/or emails. I will see what I can do for you.

There is a logical dead-end to our profession. As a server's population gets more mature (in a sense of time, not age), its need for new structures starts to die off. Eventually, everyone will have their house and heavies (or whatever), and the demand for new structures will die way down. There will still be some work for a few upgrades, new charcters appearing, losses, but it will be much less than when people were scrambling to get their stuff.

As our buildings do not decay, they will rarely need replacement. That creates less and less of a demand as time goes on.

Be prepare to switch to mainly furniture, at least until Urban Planner comes along (when it does.)

What can you do?

Dude,

Lighten up, it is not like this is real life.
Maybe you should take your ideas and apply them to the real life world.
You know the one, it has girlfriends and a life outside starwars.
Maybe there they will give you some cheese with your whine.

I haven't sold anything retail in a week because I refuse to lower my prices below 4c per. Which is fair since resources are selling at between 3 and 4c per. I still have business from my PA and allies but that won't last forever. Unless they give us military installations and involve us in the WAR my profession is dead.

You can get plans for a large rebel base.. It only costs 60,000 faction points. Oh but you are an architect. chances are you are a merchant and a scout as well. looks like you wont be making alot of faction points anytime soon

when i do build....i have wall units and storage modules and what not already pre built and just talk to people shouting that they need a structure and just build to suit(usally if they need it they will opay a decent price)...i do not shout sell anymore at all and have decided that its tacky and demeaning.

but while i am in town i listen to other builders and see what they are charging....if it is insanely low i ask them about it....if you havent done this it is really informative...

the4 top answers are

  1. they have never done the math and have no clue how many resources they used

  2. they make more money off of missions and this is just a sideline (they have no intention of being master and only have installations)

  3. THEY NEED THE CASH BAD

  4. Other people are selling for $X and they sell alot at $X and i should shut up (thats when i explain they would have made more money just selling the resources)

no one of course will admit to duping the ore

ALSO ---- over the past month many PAs are quitting...many crafters have given up...people are not happy...they are selling off there unwanted structures for quick cash

I am just really let down like many of you...the big problem is that most of our wares are only sold to other crafters..so 1/2 the game is left out....we really really need more structures to build...better camps (look at the Ranger camps, those should be ours to build not the scouts)and military structures so the combat types will need opur services

Well, how about this I do know about the profession and I have been playing from Day 2.

Stop your whining. It is a game. If you don't like where you think this profession is heading then pick another or don't play.

That being said, I mainly sell to a close group of friends and my PA members for 1 cr per resource. I harvest most of my own resources. And I am never broke. Am I rich with millions of dollars in the bank, no. B ut what goodwould all that make believe money do for me if I was as miserable as everyone complaining that they can't sell at 5 cr per resource.

So to sum this up:

Would you like some cheese with your whine?
