what are you talking about? I make insane profits selling them for 3k!
ok ok I don't. I just thought I would beat the jerk to it who will inevitably say it.

Most newb architects are trying to grind their way up. noone wants small houses anymore because everyone that wanted one already has one. What they need to realize is they can grind up REALLY fast and make TONS more money selling wall mods to masters!!!!!!!

I pay 6k per wall thats about 2cpu

you know what it sucks to be? an architect who is ONLY an architect and is looking to make a lot of money, and does not care about learning new skills quickly.

there are other architects. ones who are in it just to get to master. they have other means of getting their credits and resources. so they grind up to master and sell stuff for half the price just to get it out of their inventory.

however, it is REALLY dumb for all of the architects from group 1 to go around bitching at other architects from group 2. they can sell at whatever they want, they're just trying to advance in their skill. who cares if they lose money? they can go to rori or something and do missions for an hour to make 50k credits. no biggie.

hint: stop getting upset at players who sell for too cheap. if you can't compete with people willing to sell at a loss because you're ONLY an architect, I'm very sorry for your position. but others are willing to sell cheap just to keep advancing in the tree.

It's truly a sad day when a Master Architect complains of the price of a level I or level II item.

Small houses are pocket change and meant for the novice, get over it and move up the ladder.

Usea,

If you can read the title of this forum - it's called *gasp* Architect forum. This is a place where people with intent of being an architect gather and discuss. Do you see any reference to titles such as pistoleer, carbineer, rifelman, commando, bounty hunter, or even scount anywhere on the forum title? I don't think so. So, come here and discuss how architects should price things. Come here and discuss various improvements the profession can benefit from. Come here and talk about bugs and Critical failures. Hell, come here to talk about the joy and the pain of being an architect.

Don't come here callinlg other people dumb and act all high and mighty because you can hold a gun and do missions on Rori. Not everybody play like you do. Some people entered into this profession with the purpose of just being an architect. Not some sort of combatant with building structures as a personal side hobby.

Besides, the original poster brought a very legit point. That is not called whinning, crying, complaining, or upset. I,as an architect, do not need, want, nor care for your "sympathy" for any reason. Please direct your "highness" to some other forum.

Hint Stop gettign upset at the architects who are getting upset at the architects who are selling too cheaply.

complaining about complainers ... these produce some of the funniest threads.

Can you say pot calling the kettle black?

lets see how many layers of complaining about complainers as i am technically complaining about those who are complaining about complainers

Architects may not like it, but as a consumer, if I can get an identical item (no decay) for 10k or 4k, it's not even a choice.

Everything I see so far is going down in price. Now when I try to sell a small house for 4k, people scoff, and want 3k. I don't blame anyone for selling for any price. Unless we become a guild with strict rules and enforceable standards and fix prices, I don't see a change.

One makes alot on a few sales, or a little on alot, volume.

Besides, once those guys crit fail on a medium house, harvester or anything bigger, they adjust their prices or go under. Relatively speaking, it is a waste for an architect who can make anything large to make small houses, there is little real profit in it. Even medium minerals are a waste of time, especially when younger architects who need the XP are willing to sell them for less.

But no need to get upset. A small house is 3400 resources, and if you mine yourself its under 1cr/resource. On small houses, where a crit fail will not break your bank, its a small profit, but good xp for the younger arch. You still technically make a profit, but you end up doing a lot more running around and work. What the younger arch will soon discover, however, is that making mediums at the same price (which would bearound 25k), will not make a profit, as one crit fail just doubled the cost of a build, making it more than what you are selling them for. Even selling them at 5cr a unit, a crit fail on 21k resources hurts, and if you dont have the cash and the capital to make another house, you are not fulfilling orders and losing more money.

There are plenty of customers willing to pay 5cr/unit on larger structures too - a lot of them understand the economics of building and fails and what not, and will remain customers if their orders are delivered in a timely fashion. These are usually the same customers that spread the word to their friends and get you more business than you can handle. Dealing with bargain hunters is usually just a headache anyway, you just get hit with a bunch of BS that so-and-so is selling them for 5k less than you and blah blah, and then when you try and explain that it would be moronic to sell structures for less than you could sell the raw resources for, they get rude or confused and go away. So the lowballers are really doing me a favor, keeping the cheapskates out of my shop.

Here's to the good customers.

karlithas, I am an architect. I was talking about architects. you can be more than one profession. I am not saying you have to, just that you have to realize some people ARE more than one profession. I never said anything about myself being combat class. you have no power to tell me stop stop talking here. instead of trying to insult me without basis, try reading what I said. my point is still valid, and there is no reason to get upset at somebody who is selling a small house at an "unfair" price.

Good point Karlithas.

Some of us craft because we love to craft. In order to continue being a crafter, we do NEED to make money. We have to pay for harvester fees, travel expenses, maintenance on houses and what not.. Plus we would also like to have a bit left over to get a pretty outfit or some luxury extras in the game.

If you just think it would be neat to build your own house, dont really care about making money because you will subsidize your crafting with your combat skill, this isnt the board to do that. Some of us make crafting our full time job in the game. We have no desire to go out and mass kill small bunnyrabbits because of some mission reward. We also have no desire to spend hours running survey missions or other artisan ones just so we can keep up our harvesters and other fees and basically pay for other peoples homes.

It is not as if architect charge as much per unit as other professions. And our crit fails are a lot more devasting money wise than in other professions. If a tailor crit failed a bodysuit, he/she loses about what? 500 resources at the most? If we crit fail only a component of one of our items, we lost that much if not more, not to mention critting the final assembly. And tailors and other crafters still charge more for their items per resource used than we do. We scrape by hoping to get 3cr/unit which means that we MUST spend the time mining our own materials else we take a huge loss. I envy professions that can afford to pay 3cr/unit of material on the bazaar and be able to still come out ahead.

So if you just want to grind yourself to master architect, and dump small houses, instead of holding onto them for what they are worth in materials and selling at a fair price, that is your choice ofc. But dont expect that others will not complain. For every 5k house you sell, another architect can either A) not sell their house for the money and time they have invested for a better price B) get hassled by customers because they saw the same item at a better price.

If you are dedicated, do the grind, wall modules, structure units, etc. Use them to make whatever the customer wants on demand for a reasonable price. If you are just a powerskiller and want the skill with no intent to sell to the general public when you reach master, try the best you can not to hurt the economy for the rest of us who want to be an architect, a crafter, not someone who crafts as a hobby and supports it through other means.

And small houses are important to make at all levels. It establishes a working relationship with that customer. I have sold many small homes so far and I get to know the people who buy them, and when that person needs a bigger home or a factory or something else, they return to me since I was able to deliver on their first, even tho small, order. You establish a seller/customer relationship and can provide more items at higher levels later on for that person, or even get refferals from them for their friends. When you make a small house for someone (usualy their first home), make sure the customer knows that when they are ready for something larger, or for more structures, to let you know and you can take care of them.

The difference with Karlithas is s/he is willing and encourages other M.A.'s to subcontract to the novice in an effort to prevent the prices from falling and to educate the novice. Unfortunately I don't think you find many like Karlithas.

I still say it's a sad day when one hears of an M.A. complaining of the price of a small house. Should the M.A.'s get wise, they won't compete in the small housing market which will drive the prices upward. Small houses are pocket change, get over it and leave small houses to the novice.

If there is ever to be an alliance or agreement within this profession let it begin with the M.A.'s agreeing not to compete and sell level I and level II items.

I reached MA on my own without a PA to back me. It wasnt easy, but i did the grind, I sold houses for 15k, to support my harvestors, I sold mods and walls to Architects higher than me. I paid for every square of Architect training.

One week ago I took on an apprentice: A very motivated young man, with the drive to succeed.

He grinds bricks for me and turns them into walls. I provide the materials, absorb the loss on his failures and train him for free as soon as he is ready for a new skill.

What do I get out of this? The satisfaction of helping someone out.

If my apprentice uses his own materials for the mods or walls, I pay him 12000 per wall. I think its fair, and it keeps him afloat finacially.

I wish more people would have done this earlier in the game, instead of being a bunch of whining cut=throats. The proffesion has been damaged finacially and I doubt it will ever recover.
