Thread: It finally happened

Architects may not like it, but as a consumer, if I can get an identical item (no decay) for 10k or 4k, it's not even a choice.
My price for small homes is 35K and I tell every person that asks me about them that they will get them cheaper from someone else. So unless they need it right this moment it behooves them to shop around.
that is how capitalism works. you sell for however much you can get by on. the guy who makes his money through combat and is willing to take a slight loss (or no gain) on his small houses is at an advantage to us, and can sell for that price. it's not "unfair" in any way at all, nor is it somehow "rude" of him. I have pointed out why about a billion times and nobody cares. they just see the fact that somebody can sell for cheaper, so they get mad. that is how free market works!! I don't see how you can blame anybody but yourself!
I was not saying you should go out and get another skill to support your architect craft. I never even implied that. I said that SOME PEOPLE have done that, and that is WHY they can sell for so cheap. I don't see how you can possibly be upset at them.
I fully support all honest, hard working architects out there, don't tell me I can't talk about the architect profession on the architect forum. I was just replying to a post basically saying "god I hate people who sell so cheap. I want to kill them" because it's exactly what I said: retarded. complaining about somebody BEATING your price is very dumb.
for whomever it was who said I was stupid for complaining about a complainer..HAHAHA, way to go standard-forum-moron. I could spend an entire day teaching you about reality and logic.
well Usea you actually have one thing there very specifically wrong. Capitalism doesn't survive by people selling at the lowest price they can survive on. It is found on selling things at the price that the market will bear. If people will pay 10k for a small house, but not 11k, then you have to sell at 10k. But to say that because you can sell at 3k you should do that isn't in the spirit of Capitalism at all. So, you got that wrong.
By the way, name calling of other people is what will get you flamed the fastest on these boards. You want people to take you seriously?
Stop tellin people they are retarded and morons. Until then, you'll just get flamed and laughed at.
But thanks for the laugh.
This is the definition of capitalism from www.dictionary.com:
- An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proprotionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.
Here is the definition of profit:
- An advantageous gain or return; benefit
- The return received on a business undertaking after all operating express have been met
Here is the definitoin of free market:
- An economic market in which supply and demand are not regulatedor are regulated with only minor restrictions.
As we have it now, there are tons of people out there that do not care about profit. That is the problem.Usea, You mentioned Capitalism. Please read the definition of capitalism and realize that PROFIT is an intregal part of the system. In order for everybody to compete fairly, one must consider the fact that all the competing businessmen need to have the desire to make a Profit. However, like you pointed out in your very first post, alot of people are just gaining skills and leveling up the tree. Those people care not about the profession and what sort of impact do they bring to other architects by giving out their deeds or selling their deeds at cost or below. Simply because they have other sources of income. These people do not have the slighest idea of how an healthy economic system works. They are approaching this profession as any traditional RPG game that they're used to - gain level fast and be master. That is what is killing our profession. People not realizing that since this is a player run economy, their actions will have direct impact to the rest of the profession. When a novice_architect_002 gives out 5 small house deeds or sells them at cost, he is in effect making a dent on other architects' Profit. Honest, hard working, architects that want to make a honest living and some profit should have the right to be angry about this. There is nothing wrong with undercutting. It is a part of the business world. But when someone forgo the idea of gaining a profit and undercut at cost or below for the sole purpose of liqudating their products, it creates a big problem for the rest of the profession. If you don't realize this, perhaps you should go read up on some books and broaden your view. Then maybe you won't be soquick in calling others "moron"and/or "dumb".
I don't get mad at people that sell cheap. I laugh at them. Why do I laugh? Because I'm the guy that's invested in myself so I have 20 heavies bringing me resources, and I always sell out despite having higher prices than others.
I laugh at him, because he's probably not keeping up to his demand, and making next to nothing, & working for free.
I charge a chunk under what the market would bear. *hint* On PA's & heavy harvesters, that's over 6 cred/resource.
So please, entertain me by making the noob structures for free. You don't hurt my business in the slightest. You do however, help to ruin the business for other architects, because they (incorrectly) feel that they have to compete with you. They don't. You can't produce enough to keep up with the demand that working for free will create.
What's the result? You get a rep as being the guy with cheap prices that can't deliver what you ask for. So I get whiny customers that say "But Usea is building those for $4k." Whaa. Go buy from him then. Oh wait, you can't, he's got a 1 week waiting list. You get all the whiny customers that are only concerned about saving every last credit.
I get all the customers that have plenty of money, and want the deeds they want, now. I get polite customers that are happy to pay the prices I charge, because my good are WORTH that.
So uhh, thanks for taking the whiners off my hands.
Every time I'm in town (which admittedly is rare) and I see someone spamming small houses, factorys, whatever for low prices, I send them a tell asking if they want to make wall modules for me at 9k a wall (3cr a resource).
Currently I have 3 "apprentices". Although I am not making as much profit doing this as Ido mining the ore myself, it helps me finish large orders faster AND helps keep the prices at a reasonable level.
People don't like getting yelled at for lowballing when they are only trying to get xp. The way I see it, is you can be part of the problem, or part of the solution. I'm trying to be part of the solution ![]()

Don't forget the half that gave away free items in an effort to increase their own client base.
Cool if we get rid of the lowballing half and the 'give away' half, all the while accounting for +- 2% error, that leaves me and you as the only architects left.

Ohh... I like this post. Also don't forget the free market segment. The U.S. economy is regulated with minor restrictions because if it wasn't, ironically enough, it is detrimental to a free market. I now direct you to a website to understand my point:

Everything I see so far is going down in price. Now when I try to sell a small house for 4k, people scoff, and want 3k.
You have... got.. to ... be... kidding.. me.... And you gave in to the whiner and sold for 3k? from 4k to 3k, thats not a dent in ANYONES pocketbook but the seller.
While I dont like the way the economic system is for us Architects, I still get by. And I dont lowball. I REFUSE to sell for dirt cheap. I dont have to. When I get people who cry about my price for 12k small house, it just makes me want to raise them even more.(for them)
If someone approaches me in a cordial manner and doesnt act like a complete "d3wd' or reject, I am more willing to lower my price to that particular player if they haggle with me.
I dont need to sell dirt cheap, I made the long solo grind to master. (only recently) If I dont sell a small house anymore it doesnt bother me, they are not worth it to make for me, I only make them for my PA now upon request for free or trade in some resource they dont want/need that I can use. Dont get me wrong, I love being an architect. I hear there are faction furniture items and structure schematics, so I started working on that in my free time, and a little pvp for kicks.
