Thread: Are 13ER Flora harvesters possible?

My supplier of harvesters has been unable to make a 13ER flora harvester and I am wondering if anyone else out there can make them. If you can are you doing something special to get the 13ER?

Thanks in advance.

Just 12.

Are you sure those were floras? I've hit 98% on heavy flora, and they were still rate 12. Everything else reaches 13 well before that.

He's right. My apologies... crossed over 97% and it went to 13. I think I was getting the 98% from my mediums confused (been hunting for 11 on those... hehe).

I've built any number of BER 13 floras.

Ya, they are. I just made 3 of them andstuck them in my vender before logging out.

I have been theorizing that 14's might be possible, give the right resources can be found, but the best I been able to make those far are 13's

Yeah, 13's are what I'm making in Heavy Flora (if I'm lucky and don't get a failure) After assemby I always get 10, then based on how well experimentation goes, you get between 11 and 13. If your not getting 10 after assembly, that's where the problem is. It helps to close your eyes on those last 2 exp points =)

Good luck,

Heh, I read this last night after going nuts trying to make a BER13 flora - 'cuz I figured I had to hit 98%. After committing the resources to the schematic, I then found another thread on figuring out the extraction rate formula, and the light went on in my fishy brain, and I posted the following. Long and the short of it, Sevarhin, just because your HHM is BER6 doesn't mean it's a good BER6 HHM. Subcomponent quality (i.e. did you experiment the HHMs to 87% or 95%) matters. Bigtime.

Background - scoring resources the usual way: Score = (0.25 * HR + 0.25 * SR + 0.5 * UT)

Got a contract for 13-rate floras. Pulled out some 80something% 6BER HHMs made from "cheap stuff". Experimented the flora up to 93%, and it was still rate 12. This is with pretty uber steel 950, polymer 900, and ore 900.

Note: Polymer 900 had no heat resistance. Score it that way, you get 680. Final assembly works out to 86.5% if you score the polymer at 680, but if you score it "my way", you get 93.1%, which matches what I got on assembly. And yet, it was rate 12.

"Fine!", says I. So I throw some 95% steel into the HHMs and get 'em to 93%. I then use some of my precious UberSteel(tm) that spawned in the first month of release, which scores 977. And I buy some UberIron(tm) for "metal" that scores 968.

Before: 8?% Good-HHM6, 950 Steel, 900 Poly, 900 Ore, 93% experimentation = 12 BER

After: 93% Uber-HHM6, 977 Steel/968 Metal, 900 Poly, 900 Ore, 84% experimentation = 13 BER with two points left over.

Theoretically, I could have taken that harvester up to 94.8%, but after throwing away four (!) heavies that night, I stopped experimenting and made the schematic. No way was I gonna critfail on an experimentation and lose another heavy.

Now that I've seen this thread, it looks like I could have easily done 13% using my 950-score steel the first time around, (rather than digging into the Private Special Reserve Steel), had I used the 950-steel in the HHM.

Conclusion: Not all BER6 subcomponents are alike. An expensive lesson.

I found something interesting yesterday...

Using BER6 harvesting mechs, 90% experimentation nets BER13. 89% experimentation nets BER12.

That's an expensive 1%. :-)

I don't know the experimental quality of the harvesting mechs (a guildmember made 'em and didn't note the %) but I imagine they were 80%+ to get BER6.

Resources used are generally 900+ in UT/SR/HR, if not 950+. Had to find top-quality metals (which make up nearly 50% of final craft) to get to 90%.

Side note: Wall quality is meaningless in my limited experimentation.

So, 13's are definitely possible, but resource quality requirements are critical.

The better the % quality of the harvesting unit the lower the % the final assembly will need to be to hit 13.

I use 97% harvesting components and only have to hit 80 something percent to reach 13 in all my harvestors. So I use top quality materials in the harvesting component to get 97%, and then use a lower quality metal and ore in the 800's for final assembly. As soon as you hit 13, use the other points for storage.

(note but if you hit 13 and then fail on storage it will drop the rate back to 12)

That's good info... I'm going to try creating new harvester units and see what happens...

Good information in this post.I was having some of the same problems trying to get to 13ER Floras.
