Thread: Insecurity Wins, I return

I dropped Archy a few weeks ago, tired of the neglect. I decided to try out the only crafting prof I have not done, WS. So I set up, spent millions on a suit (getting easier to find, BTW), went through my resource inventory and pulled out WS-grade stuff, set up a spreadsheet to factory-produce weapons, and started crafting. I did really well on C12 grenades, but everything else was scattered. I made a full crate of the top 10 or so best selling weapons, and ended up selling steadily but slowly.

I suspect if I were to stay on track with WS business would pick up a little, but it seems like a non-enhanced WS isnt very interesting these days. I apprently picked a bad time to be a regular WS! I really dont want to be a enhancer WS, although there is a LOT of credits in that. The entire time I was nervous too. I have had Archy for 95% of my SWG life, and not seeing that crafting station around was weird. So, after giving it the old community-college try, I am back to Architect!

It always amazes me, but there is *still* a demand for HMMI. It defies logic, but there it is. So that will be my first project. Lets see how many I sell at 249k! (my normal price, btw)

I think we'll always have demand for our goods even though they never decay. With player turnover theres always going to be people coming and going. This is our customer base now... new people.

Let us know how those sales go. BTW, whats the average price for heavies on your server?

I did an experiment a while back and compared sales at 80% of average with 120% of average and I didn't see much difference with that +/- 20% range on price. But 249k would be more like 200-300% of average for most servers. Not sure how fast those would move if at all.

My experience with those kind of prices prior to dropping was good enough for me. I sold them for 222k back then. I would move about a dozen a week, maybe only 8. But at over 200k each, I was plenty happy with at least a million and a half a week. Shoot, my City Halls are over 500k, Banks 110k, etc... My current goal is to take the price of my small houses, currently at 15k each, and get them into a reasonable price range of 25k.

Whats wrong with charging more? You are the seller in the transaction, right.. ?

6k-10k is ok I guess if you're a starving novice. But 6k isn't even 2 cpu. I can sell raw ore on the bazaar for 2 cpu. Why bother wasting time to make it into a house?

I've sold for 9k or 19k and I saw no difference at all in the rate that they sold. I don't think customers really care if we charge 5-10k more for something like a house. I never decays and its a pretty valuable item.

I remember the days of being a starving novice and selling small houses. What i did notice is that if i charged 17k the house would eventually sell, but only after a few days. But if i priced them at 12k they would sell in a day. Probably the only reason the 17k's sold is because all the 12k were gone.

I used to sell them for 6k when the max at the bazaar was 6k.

And I like crafting. I'd rather make a small house than sell resources.

Of course. I don't live on Naboo, Dantooine, or Corellia....I don't have a prime spot.

I live on Rori. Not as much foot traffic, but if someone is using vendor search...and don't mind the travelling they will come.

I don't think anyone would come to Rori and pay 2x as much as everyone else is charging.

Crys is my friend and guildmate, but he charges way more than I do for a number of things.

People still buy them. I think he got just under a million credits for a theatre and some other city structure 2 days ago because his were the only ones in the galaxy available.

What is wrong with selling heavies in the 100k'ish range? They cost peanuts to make if you harvest all the resources yourself

The bazaar max is now 20k. That is pulling up the price of such items on the bazaar. I think if we go look now we're just as likely to see small houses sold there for 20k.

I wasn't suggesting you should stop crafting and be a miner. Just that we shouldn't sell our finished goods for what the raw materials can sell for.

If one person is selling lower prices specifically knowing that they're in a remote location and doing so because of it, then thats a different situation and they've got a reason for selling lower. If another persons shop is 800m from Coronet starport then they can charge more and target the 'need it now' folks that don't want to spend 5 extra minutes jumping to another planet and taking a shuttle just to save 10-20k credits.

We're each free to set our prices how we choose.

And prices are server dependent. 100k might be average/low price on one server but towards the top on another. I charge 100k myself actually. But don't think anyone on my server is chargning more than 100k and with several people in the 70-80k range, I saw NO sales when I was at 120k after vendor search hit.

But the lower the price we set as individuals or as a group, means lower revenue and lower income.

When figuring value of the raw material I look at what I could sell or buy the stuff for. Since grind metal and ore sells for 1-2 cpu thats the price I count it as. Yes you can harvest it yourself for cheap but miners harvest stuff for cheap and add profit. Why do the work of mining but not make the profit on those efforts that a miner would? Plus if you're going to mine stuff yourself then why not harvest the OQ >990 resource of the week and then flip that for 3-5 cpu and then buy raw ore for your own use at 1-2 cpu?
