Thread: Why are we the suckers?

This is terrible. Us architects are the suckers. We get yelled at for selling stuff for 5 cr per resource unit while other professions are out there selling for 10 and up! Why do people expect us to sell for 1-2 cr per resource... What made all the Armor and Weaponsmiths all sell for so high and get good prices, yet so many Architects sell for so low, and people expect such low prices from us. They say its ok to spend 10+ cr per resource on weapons and such, but never on buildings...

Because most combat people have a mentality of "does this help me kill stuff?"

If the answer is yes, they pay out for it. If the answer is no, they don't.

Buildings don't help the combat monkeys kill anything, and therefore they don't place much value on buildings compared to weapons or armor.

Personally I think it'll be fine for architects to raise prices on mid and high level items (medium houses, medium harvesters, factories)while keeping low level items (small house, basic harvesters) low-priced to make them affordable to new players (especially new artisans). The people who value these buildings (crafters, socializers/roleplayers) will be willing to pay for the upgrades to them because they value that sort of thing.

Consider the small house and the personal harvester to be "demo" items - you sell them cheap but it gets people wanting more and knowing that you can give it to them. And it has a beneficial side effect of helping to support new players.

Is there actually any advantage to the medium and large houses, outside of the looks, and status? Do they hold more stuff? If I just need a place to put one personal crafting station, is there any practical reason for getting a bigger house other than I think it look nice?

Iraea --

I agree, you have a very good point there.

For everyone --

I have sold 3 medium homes at 75k or 3.64 cr/resource. 2 large homes at 140k or 3.77 cr/resource and working on 3 PA halls all sold for 375k or 6.78 cr/resource.

I know that it is far from the 10 cr/resource armor and weaponsmiths can get. But I figure as long as I can keep my harvestors going and make a little for me, I am happy.

I agree with both your posts.

I just heard that some guy on the Chilastra server is going to sell PA halls for 150k, best of luck to him.

And if anyone thinks the prices I listed are to low, please let me know and I will raise them.

Thanks

Rarek,

My thoughts exactly. I get about 90% of the people telling me that my prices are ridiculous, I used to explain that I only charge 5cr/resource. Now I dont even bother, that 10% has me on a 2/3 day waitin list at all times anyways.

I dont care if they find another architect for cheaper, I sell more than I can produce already and at 'my price' not theres.

Don't even bother responding to ppl who complain about my prices.

I can see we have a lot of smart Architects on the forums :-) I'm not being sarcastic. I just wish the dumb ones in game would come to the forums and hear us out.

Forgot to add I may be raising my prices soon too, I actually want less customers now that I'm nearing Master architect. Once I get there I'll be more than happy with 1 sale a week, be enough to keep my harvs goin if its large or PA hall, and i also wont have to spend all my time running from harv to harv as i will reduce the amount I have running.

I got a question, cause I havn't made a building yet or even looked @ the schemetic, but what goes into making a house? Just materials or componets that must be made first included with the materials? Untill I made my first piece of bone armour I wondered why people charge alot for armour cause not just because of materials but you got to make sub componets some of which require a different branch of the tech tree. Now I'm not saying a house should cost less than a weapon or armour, but weapons and armours doesn't have maintance cost with it. What should happen is a % of the maintance cost should come to you the Architect. Just an idea.

I agree with you. Fortunately I have convinced 2 architects that they can charge more then they currently are. And like the guy he posted right above you, I agree and can't even keep up with the demand right now. I have 3 PA hall requests, 3 large houses, and a bunch of other people sending tells. I will do the big projects at my price and let the smaller projects go to other Architects right now. And again, does anyone think my prices are to low?

Thanks
