Thread: What the $%^$ is going on?!
I just finished speaking with my 6th Master Architect on 2 different servers attempting to buy BER7 MME's.
The CHEAPEST price I could find was 35k each and the most expensive was 100k each.
This is downright offensive.
Why is everyone charging so much for these simple to craft items.
I still sell BER7 harvs for 10k each on Tempest and I would never consider raising my prices higher than 15k.
The number one reason for everyone charging so much is because they "need to use high quality materials" which is just plain ignorant. You only NEED 600+UT to produce BER7 MME's or BER10 HME's.
50% experimentation will yield high efficiency harvesters.
Why does every "master" Arch I speak with seem to think otherwise? I produce BER7 and 10 harvs all day long and sell them like candy.
Sigh.
I'm just venting... sorry.
i think this might be the first time on this forum i've heard of someone complaining that prices are too high....
i don't see what you're complaining about.... if their prices are higher than yours, your business should be pretty darn good, no?
I'm merely complaining about the ignorance that spews from the mouths of supposed "master" architects and how they whine and complain about having to purchase "high quality" materials.
That's what I'm getting at.
hehe, sure, i get ya.... seems like a silly thing... they're just trying to justify the pricing...
really, there's no need to justify it in my opinion... if your price is 35k, say its 35k, if asked why... i would simply say because thats the price i charge and people pay me.... ifs a high efficiency unit.
i understand what your saying.... and i doubt that most of them are in fact paying any more to get the resources they use in the harvesters than they were before... at least not to any significant degree.... its simply there way of justifying why their price went up 150% or more.

hehe nono, waste is good, I appreciate that post. I am actually leveling a doctor on Wanderhome and will most definitely be in touch with him for those harvs.. lol, as soon as I manage to scrounge up some cash.
I'm low on ore at the moment. But I do take resources in trade for harvesters. So if you have a good amount of ore I'd be happy to take it in trade. If there was a resource shift in ore in Wanderhome today I'm going to drop a lot of harvesters on it to catch up. Wanderhome hasn't shifted recently so I didn't want to drop a bunch of heavies just to have it poof the next day. But that's another issue.
It's okay, bubba.
But if you think about it. You're getting a medium at heavy rates. It's fully justifiable to charge MORE than what a base heavy would cost. After all, you'd be getting a medium harv and its cheap energy and credit maintenance costs, at a heavy BER mark.
Frankly, it doesn't matter how much it takes to make them - considering the life of the harvester, and how much use and cash the person will make with them - it's not unwarranted to charge 40-50k for such a creature. Paying 40-50k to make hundreds of thousands of credits over the life of it, is certainly justfiable.
Who cares how many resources it takes. It's the demand and the needs of the product which drives the price.
By your rationale then you should be charging 15k for large harvesters with extraction rates of 7 right?
I'll buy 1000 of them at that price. Get to work.
I've already argued that very point with Illuminatrix. He/she just doesnt get that having such a huge pricing disparity between meds and heavies is ridiculous. Med mins should be priced same as other meds, regardless of schematic glitch (3 struct mods rather than 3 wall mods). I charge 50k for a med 7, more than most perhaps, but for the life of me I can't figure out why I am still charging less than for a heavy 7.

Not to mention, regardless of our cost to make, these are items which allow the buyer to easily make back the cost of these in 2 days, even at 40-50k each. Lets say the buyer finds a 70% density spot of a decentOQ copper. He buys a BER 7 harv from you for 50k. He then mines that 70% spot for exactly 2 days. At 70%, that harv wil yield 14k units of that material. If he then sells that for 4 CPU, he will make 56k from the sale. Subract maint and power costs of 5k(assuming he buys the power instead of harv'ing his own), that come to 51k, and he has covered the cost of the harvester, so anything else he mines is pure profit. And is he gets a really high quality or conductivity material, he can even more per unit for his material, so he's already making profit after 2 days. If his resource isnt that great, big deal, it will still take him only 3 days to pay it off even if he only gets 3 CPU. Hell, lets even imagine that he is mining cheap grinding materials, it still only take around 4 days to pay for itself. Im sorry, but that just doesnt seem like a bad deal to me.
