10k is kind of teh standard for small houses. i think this should be more though. i mean i've seen dresses go for more than that. i think as architects we are all scared to charge more for houses. we need to grow some goombas and start charging at least 25-30k for a small house. and raise the price for mediums and larges accordingly. im not complaining about people who are undercutting me and ruining my business, i make plenty of money. i just feel for the integrity of our profession we neeed to ban together and up our prices.

I enjoy making money with a reasonable price, on the other hand, I love to help ppls build structures they need. IT's too hard for a young player to get a small home hwen they're at 25-30k range. For a small house, 10-12k is a price that make me feel good enough,hmm...actually sometimes i gave them out for free to some young players.

I think we should up the price on everything BUT small houses. Since they are basicly ugly, and boring, etc. They are hard to place on top of that, Larger the house the better they are, easier to place, etc.

I personally sell small's at 8k

Med's I think should go for 60k (they suck also, at least corellian ones do)

Large Houses 160k (i was selling at 120k but I got way to many orders.)

I won't ever quit playing this game, I provide my costomers with the whole "You can always come to me, even though my prices are higher, I won't quit playing like all other Master's"

Well, I sell small for 10k and right now am selling Med for 40k (can't do large yet). Thing is, there are so many Master Archs out there I hardly get any business; and I still have to pay for my machines, my house and shop just like everyone else. But unless I give "Good" prices I don't get any business. Now maybe I can afford to slowly raise prices as my business establishes itself, but for now if I want a business at all I Have to sell below the others.

We've been through this before. The main reason houses are dirt cheap is that there is no difference between a house made by a Novice Architect using crappy resources and a house made by a Master Architect with the best resources and experimentation.

Only if we could experiment on houses (say, reduce maintenance costs or redeeding fees, increase items limits, decrease lots used, etc), then houses could compete with weapons, armor, modified clothing, etc.

With harvester experimentation, we're getting just a taste of how quality structures can sell. Of course, with no structure decay, we'll eventually flood the market with good harvesters and we'll be back to square one.

I tried forming an architects union once, but everyone wanted to go their own way.

It really doesn't make any sense to to even try to keep a pricelist anymore, because every starving architect lowers the price by a couple k.. So, I've worked up my fighting skills, and use the money to power my harvesters until I have no more room for resources. When all you small brainers that got leveled by your guild figure out what it costs to be an architect and go out of business, I'll be here to sell people something useful for what it is worth. A small house for 10k when a krayt powered laser carbine costs 120k? Are you out of your minds?

yes, those same players probably just bought a gun costing them 100k(from beinga miner), that's why they can't afford your house.

sheesh, free training, free houses, .... call me a commie but i think there's something wrong with this picture. other than the occasionally mature player, no one's gonna come back to buy your "expensive" product just because you helped them out earlier on. they'll just end up buying from someone who sells those larger houses/harvesters for dirt. (especially now with holocrons)

i can see a weaponsmith giving out good CDEFs as an incentive, but most of what we make costs a LOT more than a CDEF, it's just not practical advertising. if you are doing it just to help new players, that's even worse. these are the same players who will end up not wanting to tip for someone who just healed them 600 HAM wounds because that medic can "get xp for it". same ones who thinks training advance class masters should be just as free as training exploration 1. you are actively promoting these people. stop it.

I am still very new as an architect, but...........

It amazes me how much raw material goes into a house... It's over 2k units of ore alone and that's only for the ten structure segments and that assumes you don't fail on any of them.

To me so far, the profession seems very complicated and very underpaid. I will push on and keep trying, but something tells me I will be making a lot more furniture than homes.

you guys are nuts

i consistantly sell at low prices and still make a good profit. All the people i've helped out by cutting deals when they were just starting out have eithe rquit the game or are still buying from me.

out of the 3 apprentices i've trained up 1 has his own business (quite successfull on another planet), one is just getting in to his own business and 1 has dropped architect all together.

with the quality of materials and experimentation affecting harvesters most suppliers have upped their prices to architects, and the arhitects have upped harvestor prices. My suppliers who i've been with since i was barely over a novice have kept theirs the same or lower, and i have kept my prices just as low as ever.

my low prices and fast delivery is how i compete with the grind up kids who sell medium houses for 40k and large harvesters and houses for 50k. They will learn soon. And the more they try to lower their prices to compete with me the less money they make and eventually give up the proffession.
They cant offer immediate delivery while they have to harvest everything to make a large house and still spend the time putting it to gether because they cant afford to run two full time factories that just keep me stocked with components. hell i even have a 3rd factory that i run part time cause i cant keep up some times. even when generation grind tries to under cut my prices they either cant keep up with demand, or they cant deliver in a timely manner. They also spend more of their time doing missions to pay for their harvesters while i spend mine networking with customers. I havent done missions for money in months, and wont have to ever probly.

I cant count how many times a newbie architect will ask me how i can sell a large harvester at 80k or a medium one at 10-20k and still make a profit, because they cant do it. My answer... a good relationship with my suppliers and customers.

any way .. back on topic

clothes are something everyone (who can wear them) wants, they are an emediate exressoin that is with them all the time. and people will pay 15-20k for a dress, and only want to pya 10k for a house. I'd bet if houses were as customizable as clothes from launch we'd be charging more for them now. Another reason houses sell so cheep is because its hard to get started as an architect and most of the kids are willing to take a loss to get skillups to the point where they dont have to any more.

i think i've drifted off the subject(s) at hand =) enjoy

10k is not that much i know, but have u seen teh size of the small house? 1 main room and a tiny side room, its hardly a house, its more a shed ot a hut. in the real world you can get a caravan or a "small house SWG style " shed for less than $10k and celebrity dresses cost wayyy more than that. Just reading the sunday magazines now ther eis a section on clothes. one of these dresses costs £85000? i mean **edit** thats more than what my real house costs. hell its more than a ferrari.

Now if you ask me whats the big deal if we are selling houses for 10k they dont cost that much to make.

Where are all these players that have the credits to buy a house for more than 30K? Being a casual gamer I'm lucky If I can make 30K over two or three weeks. I usually only have 5-6K to my name at any given time. I hope that there are more architects like those here who have said giving away small houses and the like is no big deal. I applaud you. Please don't let this game turn into real life where players need to visit their friendly SWG Savings and Loan to get a morgtage for their very own Large Nabbooian house. Don't raise prices on housing simply because you feel it will make your profession more "credable."

Nony,

You have an 863 square foot home for 220k?! Are you living in downtown New York or something? That's astronomically high out here in the sticks of southern Michigan.
