Thread: Architect Materials
As a self titled Armorsmith Noob... What are the most common resources that people will drop harvestors? Ore, A specific ore, steel, specific steel, etc?
I'm just trying to get a grasp of the kinds of materials that will be most commonly used in manufacturing and figure experience beats out luck any day.

Ore. Low-grade ore. Lots of it. Insane amounts of it!
And I always find myself in need of steel, aluminum and copper. ![]()
As he said ore, second is crap metal.
A structural mod takes 200 ore and 50 of any metal.
A wall takes 10 mods plus 300 metal and 200 ore. One wall is 2700 ore and 500 metal. A heavy takes 6 or 7 walls so that is16k ore and 3000 metal. We use ore in a 5 to 1 ratio of any other component.
For final assembly and certain other subcomponents we need steel and metal with a high UT. I normally use IRON as the other metal.
You can spend 1mill creds on ore and have it used in 15 mins (in factory's)
I think everyone else about covered it. If you one day plan to make good harvesters, start hoarding some steel and ore with good UT SR and HR...this will allow you to make the top components to make BER 10 mediums and BER 13 (14?) heavies.
Also you want to get some inert gas, reactive gas, copper, aluminum and chemicals...the stats on these dont matter as much for teh most part.
For more in depth coverage of what you specifically need, check SWGcraft.com. Their listing is one of the best.

Ha! Now that I've got you all here... hand over your ore!
Nobody try anything fishy or the Wookiee gets it.

If someone is building harvesters (many of us do), then we DO need "high quality" materials. We need:
- steel, metal, and ore with high HR,SR,UT - solve for ((2*UT)+HR+SR)/4) to assess the quality - in general, I regard those with a score of 900 or better to be "high quality" and anything lower to be "filler"
- about 10% of our total resource needs are "high quality" steel, metal, and ore
The other 90% of what we consume is "filler" - attributes don't matter a bit. This is dominated by ore (easily 70-80% of our total resource needs). But we also need aluminum, copper, steel, and arbitrary metal to make walls, generator turbines, final house assembly, etc. Generator turbines also require a specific type of ore - carbonite.
One thing to be aware of is that ore, unlike most minerals, *rarely* occurs in high concentrations. I've seen 96% concentrations of steel before, but I think the highest ore concentration I've ever seen has been about 74%. Typically many of us settle for 55-65% spots. So you need to factor that into your planning. And because ore dominates our resource requirements we can't afford to pay outrageous prices for it. However, if you are a resource supplier and consistantly have a supply of ore, I think you'll have a very steady business.
