Thread: PETITION: Support the Devs in their city plan

I'm starting a petition that I hope the devs will listen too. I think the way they have implemented city buildings on test center is fantastic. I love the way they have made the construction branch worthwhile. Not all arcitects are grumpy about the way city schematics have been added to the architect line.

This petition is here to support the devs in their design decisions and to congradulate them on all the long hours of hard work they put into this! Who will join me in giving them their well deserved respect?

I've already advised the devs and they are working on it, but as usual it will take some time... (j/k)

Heh... seriously I should just have that typed in Notepad so I can copy-paste it

I'm all for a good dev supporting. A big problem for them is that they need to ballance content to keep existing players in the game, and bug fixes. With player cities out of the way (and hopefully fully functional), I think bug fixes will be coming out more frequently once it's said done. I'm looking forward to it anyways.

Kudos to the devs =)

"With player cities out of the way (and hopefully fully functional),"

I seriously doubt that's even close to being a possibility. They haven't even fixed experimentation yet. It took them 4 or more months to even show architect experimentation....and they still released the architect profession. They released a Master Armoire that looks exactly like the advanced armoire. They have no problem releasing broken things. I seriously doubt player cities will be remotely close to being functional.

Less time developing new stuff, more time fixing old stuff.

If you're about to flame me, answer this first "Name a profession that is fully functional."

You are complaining that the Master Armoire looks identical to another Armoire? Why are people so focused on what they don't like?

Architect is not a broken profession nor has it ever been broken. Do a function point count of how many things they got right and how many things they messed up. I do believe you will find that the Developers are batting in the 99% range. 1% failure rate. Thats better than the 4% failure rate allowed for by the medical community.

99%, where did you get that?

On release, house admin did not work. Terminals went missing. So that is one full line right there.

The whole construction line did nothing at all. That is 50% down.

Larger farms could not be built. That is 1 out of 6 types, not 1 out of 100 types.

The furniture thing is a bit picky, but it is only a varable to point to the right art work. That is just sloppy and lazy.

I wouldn't say we were critially broken like commando, but I wouldn't let them off to easy here. They game wasn't ready, plan and simple. My feeling is that it was just too ambitious and that caused it to not be doable in the amount of time their investers wanting it done in. That is poor design up front. Things are slowly being fixed though and they should have a completed game around january.

I'm sorry, 99% was on the low side. Let me educate you a bit on function points so you can begin to comprehend how complex and how complete the architect profession really is. A function point can be expressed asa single unique action that ALWAYS produces the same EXPECTED result. An expected result does not have to be consistent. If a result is suppose to be random then getting a predictable result is UN-expected.

I'll give you a short list of function points that I can think up off the top of my head. This list is by no means complete and I'm compiling simliar function points together. Keep in mind that Architect has 120 craftable items currently (not including player city items) and architect has 18 skill boxes. Any time you say each of a type of thing can have an action performed on/using it then your function point count is the number of items times the number of actions to be performed. In my sample function points, I came up with 2604 which is not all the function points associated with architect. I wouldn't be surprised in the function count wasabove 5000 for architect. How many single function points can you list as currently being broken in the architect line? 5? 10? 20?

In your example, you are saying that just because house terminals werent 100% working that nothing inBuildings Lineworked. You could still gain access to the house schematic, craft them, sell them, place them, etc. Those are all correctly working function points that are check marks in thedevs favor.Medium and largefarms could be built, the component needed to build could not. Thats three seperate function points, two in favor ofthe devs and 1 against.

Function Function
Point Point
Count
18 Is xp/ap requirement correct for each skill box?
18 Can each skill be learned from an NPC player if the requirements are met?
18 Can each skill be NOT learned from an NPC trainer if the requirements are NOT met?
17 Can each skill above novice be learned from an player if the requirements are met?
17 Can each skill above Novice be NOT learned from an player if the requirements are NOT met?
120 Does each schematic become available when the appropriate skill is learned?
120 Is each schematic unavailable when the player does not have the appropriate skill?
120 Does each schematic have the correct resource requirement?
120 Is each schematic craftable with the appropriate skills and materials?
120 Is each schematic NOT craftable without the appropriate skills or materials?
120 Does each schematic grant appropriate XP when crafted?
120 Does each schematic grant appropriate XP when crafted in practice mode?
120 Can each crafted item be dropped in a house that a player has admin rights too?
600 Can the 5 item movement commands be used on each dropped architect item?
120 Can each dropped item be selected?
140 Can each non-power harvester use all 14 harvester functions
24 Can each power harvester use all 12 harvester functions?
432 Can each house use each house function?
120 Does each dropped item display the correct graphic?
120 Can each crafted item be sold on a vendor?

The one thing I don't like from what I have seen so far. I don't like Dantooine using Naboo and Tatooine architecture. It should be Corellian. You can not reach Dant from Naboo or Tat. Only from Corellia. Yet the architecture is reversed? I really like Dant for some odd reason. Just hate to see it ruined with Tat and Naboo buildings when they aren't even close.

Wow, you have way too much time on your hands, I'm sorry.

If it isn't working, then it isn't working. Things are slowly getting to the point they are working.

Houses are now working fully, complete with signs. They were not before.

Experimentation is huge, wasn't working and still isn't there.

Still no decay or turn over.

I would say we are 70-80% there. I don't have any numbers to back this up, nor will I waste the time to do so. That is my feeling on the matter. We still need a renewable economy. We need experimentation completed. Once we get that, maybe 90% completed with furniture customization still to go. We are more complete and fixed than some professions but a far cry from others. We do get more attention than most I suppose, which is a good thing.

You should see tat and naboo houses together, it is very ugly. We get what we get I suppose.

I shudder at the though. I really like Dant. Hate to see it ruined by that. On Wanderhome at least there isn't a lot houses there. Only major buildup is around the Imperial Outpost. But with the minimum distance thing for cities I see those PA's got got froze out of building moving to Dant and Lok so they can have their cities. I see urban sprawl coming soon.

I was just pointing out that little things like this are still not working yet they're releasing a huge update to the architect profession.

How can saying...

That medium and large could be built... a component could not. Mean they work?

If you need to build a component of a piece in order to build a full item and you cannot.. then.. er.. well.. sorry.. its not working.
