Thread: Experiment Failure %
Maybe I am forgetting something from statistics but doesn't a 0% chance of failure mean you can't fail. I am a new master architect and have been working on experimentation. I have consistentlylimited my experimentation attempts to a number of boxes that showed a 0% chance of failure and have maintained about a 25% failure rate. Is anyone else having this problem when experimenting? I am finding it very frustrating washing out 25% of my work and resources when I am beingtold I have a 0% chance of failing. Am I missing something here?
It appears that crit fails on combines AND experimentation have both increased as of late.
I lost a bank, a cloning facility and a couple of large houses, not to mention about 4 heavy mineral extractors due to this
In math, if there's a 0% chance of something happening, it can't happen.
In SWG, the more something costs, the bigger the chance of it failing. Walls hardly ever fail. PA halls have a good chance of failing.
In the past 24hours I have gone from 1 crit failure here and there to a crit failure about every 5th item. At first I thought it was bad luck, but after 200 or so attempts and crit failures on all varieties of things and with alarming frequency, I think the chance was increased.
And 0% failure always still allowed for that freakish critical failure still, but it was rare. Now amongst everything I've made today as a Master Architect with a skill tape, excellent station and craft tool there have been critical failures every couple minutes.

Today I was in a rush and made some Structural Modules by hand for some Walls while more were in the factory. I had at least 20 critical failures on them. Almost always (but not quite) it was two critical failures in a row each time. Seemed kinda odd. But it wasn't until I made about 30 more items ofvarious sorts today and a bunch of componets for them and had a critical failure every 5-10 tries did I think it can't be just me being super unlucky or something.
There's minimum chances to fail and crit fail on assembly and experimentation. That number on the right appears to be added to whatever these minimums are. So you don't want to go over zero if you can help it, but just because it shows zero won't let you avoid the minimums.
Crit Failures have massivley increased within the last 24-36 hours. I made 24 heavies on thurs/Fri and had only around 5 or so failures either at build or experimentation stage. Yesterday I tried to make 4 heavy floras, had 3 crits, 4 experiment crits and made 1 of the floras before I ran out of resources.
I've filed a bug report, that failure rate is just stupid
What I don't understand is we have6 possible results crit fail, fail, average, good, great and amazing... why is it as a Master you end up with just crit fail, great or amazing... the percentages of the other results drop to 0. Why not have crit fail drop to 0 but can still fail instead of the other way around.. that way you could still fail to make those ber 13s but at least you have a chance to recover if u have skill tapes etc.
yesterday I could easily make 10 hvy mining with 13 BER in a row before I had a failure during experimentation. today I made 9 and 6 had CF during experimentation. thats a failure rate of 66%.
What gives is that, from what I hear, is that the Crits are a bug and the Devs were working to fix it. If this is right all you can do is wait for them to fix it. If not.... all us Artisans are in for a hard life....
Let's hope it's a bug, cuz like you, I can't seem to make a Droid right now.
You know what.. maybe this is an intentional (yet secret) solution to architect prices. By increasing the crit fail rate 10-fold they can absolutely FORCE an increase in the price of architect goods. No lowballer can withstand losing half his materials every time and still sell at 1.5cpu. The near total inability to make finished goods has got to drive prices up... doesn't it? After a month of price-adjustment, fix the crit fail issue, and voila! Proper architecture pricing! Oh wait, such an intentional implementation would favor architects and is thus.. not possible. My bad.
Yea I just got a huge increase in my failure rates (even thou i am not a master). It wasnt this much. Before Yesterday i could actually predict what was going to fail.. now its like its every other item i make.
WHAT GIVES!!!!!!?
