Thread: Dont be a architect!!!!!!! here is why
Well we recieved a BREATH of life, but its over for the most part.
I have sold 40 med harvesters w/ ER of 9 and all the merchat tents, shuttleports, cantinas, hospitals, gardens, light posts, foutians, hospitals, and statues any one galaxy could use.
I had over 500 walls and 1mil in each material saved up for this patch. I just dumbed my arch skills and going commando. i still have more houses and harvesters in stock then most could make in a month, im selling them at 3/4 the price of the next cheapest arch.
So a word of wisdom to those grinding, im one of many super archs on the the servers, dont waste your time the market will be dead in 2 weeks. If not already since the dev's trashed chef, and left no open end for archs, either be a weapons smith or armor smith or a doctor if you wish to make money being a crafter they have a product thats used up, and needs to be replentished.
I'm just trying to help, i have several friends joining the game because of mounts, and asked me what they should be. I thought i would share this with the noives starting there grind, dont do it, you will spend hours grinding stuff you cant sell.
Good luck, and may the force be with you!
We all knew that the Player cities boost would be short lived, and now with higher rate harvestors we will more quickly flood the market with stuff that lasts forever.
Architect will go downhill much much faster this time than last time. It has not started yet ( my opinion ) but it will soon.

I really wasn't prepared for cities, as I was making harvs. I only sold 2 halls and some homes. As cities expand and planet caps are lifted, we'll see a temporary upswing in demand. But I expect this is the last time harv rates are upped forsome time. The changes in rate are driving demand for now. Im going to build my fleet to 13 BERs, stock my vendor w/ 10 BER meds, a few buildings and streetlamps. Then I'llcash in my XP for something useful. Maybe a holocron will tell me what direction or Ill do combat for awhile. I dunno. The rush was disappointingly short.
Expect to see the housing market carry on for a few more weeks until all the initially placed cities max out their size. Also expect more heavy harvestor sales as they have (supposably) fixed the maintence rate on highly experimented heavy harvestors.
Give it a month and it'll be dead again.

If they up the city cap in December, we'll see a small cycle of demand and confusion then. After that though .... buh-bye
Bah, as if Houses and City Halls were the only thing we do.
Even Small Naboo Houses have a 150-item limit, and I doubt all of them are at that limit already. Plenty furniture opportunity there.Harvesters decay something silly if left unmaintained for any length of time, and in the case of Personal ones at least, are cheaper to buy new, than redeed. And all the other Elites, the ones with proper decay, will be wanting factories.
Diversity is the key. Yes, the Houses earn lots of xp and cash, but sooner or later, everyone will have one. The other things we make will still be needed for quite some time, I expect.
Furniture is another thing we make that lasts forever, once architects cannot sell any buildings then we will be making furniture non stop, That will take a week perhaps two to fill the world with all the furniture anyone would ever want. Small items that last forever is not the answer.
Without decay the architect class is eventually doomed.
Having seen some of the backlash on the other boards, I'm not sure decay is the answer...people will just not bother with houses at all, if the general ranting is any guide. ('SOE sucks for adding death decay, so I'm going to punish Armoursmiths by never buying any!')
Can't say I can think of a better idea, mind you, but I doubt the entire profession is going to dissapear up it's own backside overnight. Make hay while the sun shines, and if you're right, retrain into Guns, or Armour, or who knows, even a fixed-and-now-uber Droid Engineer profession, when and if it becomes a problem. (That was what I thought I was going to be when I bought the game...shame
)
No need to abandon ship just yet though, I shouldn't have thought.
Everything is doomed; SWG is unlikely to still be around in ten years...we only liveninety on average, and in a few billion years, the sun is going to explode! Enjoy it while it's still here ![]()
This was not intended to me a decay thread there are advantages and disadvantages to that.
I just wanted to help those trying to choose a proffesion that this one is almost as dead as chef.
Its sad to see that Soe is so short sited, and worst yet that lucas himself hasn't fried them for what they have done, but this isnt a complain thread either.
With no renewing product and many grinding architec chasing holos ( another great idea) and dumping thier products.
Architec is a mistake it will frustrate you with little or no reward. thanks SOE
As a Real Life project Manager I can do better myself. you should be ashamed at your short sited ness, and lack of imagination.
Still IMO, (have a notion to bump an old thread), there needs to be a way to get credits out of the economy for good (which cities will help) and needs to be a decent rate of turnover on products so that people have to keep buying them over and over.
Hehe, I'm still of the opinion that weapons should take some sort of power cell that's good for x number of shots and that kinda of stuff.
