Thread: Dont be a architect!!!!!!! here is why
why not add decay on buildings, something like 100 days, after that it breaks period... only houses and PAs, city structuresshould be fixable by an archtect, needing x amount of reasorces.(i see too many whinners here). drop maintnance down 50% on other stuff(unfixable) and change it to operating costs. If a house breaks it should still be usable but look ugly and undeed able. For harvs and factories, they should be unmovable, unusableand only hoppers should be accesible. the operating time should be displayed on building and deed.
penalties for no maitnace should do perm damage and shorten the life of the building.
give ALL prepatch buildings a life of 50% of new
I just about mastered Architect awhile ago...
Now I get this to look forward too? What fun
There will always be new players looking for a house, the furniture to put in it, and harvesters. This type of economy will always have ups and downs in every prof.
Some more planets would be nice.

My alt char has been master arch for awhile and He's still backlogged about a week so I don't think we're at any kind of market saturation level yet. I think mandatory decay is a terrible idea as yes, it forces people to adjust their play. I.E. no longer wearing armor. There has to be a better way.
Make structures attackable

I think like most of you. I think I’m going to finish my current orders, up grade my operation to all BER13’s and have back ups of all the different types, spend half the month of December making houses, city buildings and harvesters to place in my vender and start off in new profession with the new year. Its been fun being Architect over the past 4 months, but I don’t see a future for Profession any more. That may change and I’ll come back to it. I’ll most like move on to armor or weapons smith. Hang around for a bit makes all the cool little toys before going off and mastering something else.
I wonder how long it would take me to make master in every profession. Maybe that should be my new goal, just so I can see how the other professions are.

Well we recieved a BREATH of life, but its over for the most part.
I have sold 40 med harvesters w/ ER of 9 and all the merchat tents, shuttleports, cantinas, hospitals, gardens, light posts, foutians, hospitals, and statues any one galaxy could use.
I had over 500 walls and 1mil in each material saved up for this patch. I just dumbed my arch skills and going commando. i still have more houses and harvesters in stock then most could make in a month, im selling them at 3/4 the price of the next cheapest arch.
So a word of wisdom to those grinding, im one of many super archs on the the servers, dont
Only 40 medium harvesters, only 500 walls, and 1M in resources and you call yourself a "super architect"?
I had about 2M in ore, 2M in steel, and 1M in other stuff applicable to architect -- around 700 walls, 3000 more in structural module crates, about 90 OMUs at 92% factorized, and a ton more in factory turbines and the like - and only considered myself a medium architect.
I came through the city rush creating two towns (city halls and their populations), 20 heavy 13 KGH harvesters, and still had tons of resources left over (although it drained me of my factory crate items).
I'll choose not to believe that your one fell swoop has destroyed the architect profession, thankyouverymuch. ![]()
Well I'm in the process of going Master Architect I'm maybe 1/3 or more of the way there right now. I got sick of trying to find things I needed to buy and then I got sick of finally finding them and seeing outrageous prices on them (180,000cron a medium harvester 6? 120,000cr for a Fusion Generator 7, 80,000cr for a solar generator?) Give me a break, a month maybe 6 weeks ago these things cost far less than this and they were not any better than they are now!
So I said to hell with it and went Architect myself, now I don't have to wander around looking for what I need, pay outrageous prices and deal with whiny people who complain about the lack of decay on this that and the other thing. I need something I just make it and there it is. There is money to be had in any profession, while most of the architects were busy complaining about the lack of Decay the smart one were out there experimenting with Crafting Stations getting them way up there and selling them left and right for BIG BUCKS
!
I sell clothes at my shop, they don't decay either, a lot of tailors quit when they said no more decay on clothes. You know what, that never effected me one little bit! People are still buying my clothes every day, my vendor still sells out all the time and I don't charge extremely low prices either. Imagine that huh?
So you go ahead and drop architect, the more the merrier I'll be happy to take your customers
! Runninga shop takes a lot of patience and sometimes even a little trial and error to see what works and what doesn't.I started my shop right after the game went live with ONE small harvester and 1200cr, now I have one of the biggest and oldest shops there is on Corellia and a HUGE customer base that is very loyal to me.
They know that I willrestock the shop on a daily basis, that I will have good quality and good prices and the variety that they are used to seeing. They also know that if possible I will go the extra mile for them. What more can they ask for? What more can I ask for?
Stop in sometime and take a look for yourself. Corellia outside Coronet City 460 -5388

Well betezoob thank you for flexing your VR pride, and yes there is no one forcing me to stay arch, if you would read, and not get so reactive i was just offering a point of veiw to the newbs. I did this with good intentions to help minimize the frustation in a month or 2 with new archs starving.
The writing is on the wall, and i havent posted anything new, i was not bragging about the amount of materials and structures, i was showning newbs that if your starting with hand sampling you have some serouisly entrenched Architects that have consideralbly larger stockpiles.
I am now a master CH/BH and still having fun.
And i dont intentend to be back to this board agin have fun and good luck
Betazoob,
For those that know how to run a businss ( youseem to beone of them ) the profesion is not dead, not even close to it. But looking down the road to the future, the profesion is indeed slowly dying. All that you and I are doing is soaking up sales that would have gone to others.
We will be going out of business eventually also, just a little later thansome others. But the truth is, everything we sell is something that lasts forever.
That will doom the business, even faster now with higher rate extractors.
Without decay, it will eventually be a dead business.
There are more architects than any other crafting profession, too many to my mind. How many people are architects simply beause by and large the profession works and you can sell products. I mean lets be serious, there is plenty of business if you want it, and that is more than can be said for many crafting professions. DE anyone?
I would hope to see a least a 50-75% attrition of the architects to other professions with upcoming changes. What will be left will be a solid core of dedicated architects to satisfy the needs of a growing populace.
Also on the cities thing, we have not seen the next wave yet as most politicians are newbs. Wait till they can place more stuff (fountains, street lamps etc), there is still life in that yet.
If you are considering leaving then please do, as quickly as possible, sell your ore to another architect and pick up BE or some other soon to be blessed with love profession.
Toxin,
You dont understand, a better profesion cannot be built if there are no sales. Everything we sell is a FINAL sale, they wont every need to buy that again becasue it lasts forever. No ammount of business savvy or powergaming can get over this fact. The profesion will die eventually,as long as everything we make lasts forever. A stronger profesion cannot grow out of it unles decay is introduced.
