Thread: Question about Respec

I have not tired it yet - but my main account is a Master Artisan, Master Architect & Master Droid Engineer with the rest of my skill points tossed into Merchant so I can sell my goodies.
If I understand the Respec process correctly I will not be able to pull Droid Engineer down and add a combat profession - is that correct?
Correct. Artisan and Entertainer professions do not get a respec.
Allow me to share my thoughts about the current respec process that's taking place atm.
I was Master Artisan/Archi with a little bit of skill points thrown into Merchant. I was also Master Swordsman. Since the CU has gone live, I've had to dump my Merchant skills (because I was had a negative balance of 14 skill points). I'm still Master Swords/Artisan/Archi and as far as I'm concerned, I might as well just give up combatall together.
Being a crafter with any amount of combat skills at this point is pretty much useless. With Master Swords, I'm finding myself in the clone facility every 30-45 minutes. Even with the new group combat design, combatants with crafting templates still don't stand much of a chance. The "uber" fighters are the ones who are stacking elite combat profs, (and they're having a hard time staying alive in the wild as well).
The CU has drawn a very heavy line down the middle which seperates the crafters from the fighters. There's not a lot of room for crafters to pick up a weapon and be very successful with it. Sure, I could probably dump some Artisan skills and invest them in more combat but then without Master Artisan, I'd lose I lot of sub schems that Archi's rely upon.
The CU has forced a lot of crafter/combat templates into making some uncomfortable decisions. A prominent Master Doc in my guild was forced to drop all of her Pistol skills so she could keep to her medical template (Docs now have the requirement of picking up some BE skills if they wish to continue crafting their own meds). A Master Ranger in my guild had to drop a tree in his Ranger template because he had to make a decision to drop some of his Swords or some of his Ranger (Swords originally required one tree in brawler but now requires two).
It's not fun anymore. Yeah, I admit, it sucks that the puritan crafters can't respec if they had no previous combat skills. But in all honesty, unless you're willing to go all the way and master two or three combat profs, you're better off leaving what you have alone.
