Thread: And I quote: Holy s#$t, you are WAY overpriced
You know what my solution to these Undercutters is? Go buy up the ENTIRE market(or as much as I can find), and re-sell them at more realistic prices. Call it buying out the competition. Call it sending a message. But when someone cuts other Crafters' throats by selling half-price, this is my way of taking care of it. This way they get their poverty-level credits they charge, and I help keep the economy at a steady level.
Funny this thread was dredged up from the dead. 3 months later and these things are still happening. I had an encounter exactly the same as the original poster just last night, in Coronet on Intrepid. He says how much for a medium Tat house, I say 75k, he said exactly what it says in the title of the post.
Unlike some merchants, though, I am not polite with these people.
To those who feel they "deserve" a house and shouldn't have to pay a fair price for it- Get bent, and get bent hard. I treat this game the same way I treat real life - I have skills that I have spent time and money gaining, that you do not have. I deserve to not only be reimbursed for them, but because I learned them to make money in the first place, to make a profit from them as well. If you want something for free or at an undercut price, I advise you to go find these other bozos who are willing to ruin everything for the rest of us. I am by no means rich, I probably never will be, and that's my fault for having this attitude, but I will NOT let those who are willing to lose money dictate how I run my business. I applaud those who are able to approach comments like these with patience and politeness, you are by far better people than me. I am, of course, MORE than happy to go way above and beyond with any clients willing to pay my fair prices. I'll deliver anywhere in the galaxy for free with no minimums, I am willing to throw in discounts when people buy things in large quantities (3 large houses gets you some free furniture for instance), and I am extremely polite in these cases. It's too bad they are so few and far between.

Yelling "I WILL CRUSH YOU!!!"
seriously guys we have a classic Nordstrom's vs. Walmart argument
STOP being childish... If you have had ANY economics courses you would know that BOTH models work just fine...
Oh and for you using the IN THE REAL WORLD THAT WOULDN'T WORK argument um get a life this is the GAME WORLD
oh and btw look at the above retailers, they offer the SAME spread of products with VERY different business modles and Walmart would be the lowballer or undercutter... Hmmm Nordstrom's still seems to make a profit and they don't use mudslinging adverts like you guys do here...
GET OVER IT...
Your argument are based solely in your small minds because you are losing business...
I don't see any negative return from the "lowballers" here except the occassional you are greedy or gouging plea...

A medium harvester is worth MORE than a large at the same extraction rate due to the reduced power and maint costs. You are selling them for less. Now many of your customers may not understand that, but some will. Let the ones that don't understand buy your critical failed mediums, but price the good ones at least as high as the corresponding large.

Dumin is a good example of whats wrong with architect. (no i dont blame you.. its not your fault) PA's can destroy independant architects with unrealistic prices i cant compete with.. thats why im done. His "profits" are spread across an entire PA.. i have to do it all myself.. i cant compete. None of you indies can. And you will go bankrupt competing with PA OR you will spend more time online than you spend at your real life job to make it work.. either way.. no thanks for me.
Not really. I'm a solo architect with two accounts, and I pull in just as much as his entire PA hall does. Rarely do my ore supplies go below 1M, or my steel below 500k.
with 7 accounts worth of harvesters i have trouble keeping my vendors stocked, it sells so fast, maybe you should question were you are situated, many architects (myself included) have migrated to player cities, currently my architect is funding the entire city. My prices are small houses for free, medium 50k, large 100k, but only to those IN the city, those outside i charge my regular prices, also because its a growing player city with houses cropping up all over everyone wants new furniture, or maybe the new base 10 harvesters to replace their oldwhile they are moving them over anyway. Im pulling around 90k of ore and 100k of other materials per day, and every day im waiting on factory for structure modules, (and making more walls / houses while waiting), onlyyesturdaydid i finally empty my email tray of orders and caught up to the present on houses / harvesters. And im still having trouble keeping up with how fast furniture goes, i had one person from a nearby city come in and take three trips to carry the amount she bought.
This player city patch is a good thing for architects, if you can try to take advantage of it. Once cities are built and everyone is settled it wont be quite so busy. But every city has at least one architect as far as i can tell, and if your not one of those, then a lot of your customers are moving to these cities and will most likely buy from their city architects.
Also on a side note, other than my houses which i sell cheap to the citizens, everything else is my full price, which is more expensive than average on my server, and not ONE person has complained about them.
Consumersshould not be harrassed for wanting to Barter when they hear your price - it's part of the process in most situations. People should be "/ignored" if they respond like the title of this post.
In my book, OK is:
Consumer: What do you charge for a med. Tat house ?
Me: 50K.
Consumer: Will you take 40k ?
Me:
oops
Me: Sorry that's my price but you are welcome to come back after you have done some price shopping if you like.
Consumer: Thanks. OK. Bye.
