You must not be readin patch notes lately. A starter JTL toon gets 75K to start and with their upgradable ship even at Tier 1 & 2, they can make enough money in loots (to sell) and credit chips of course.

Thanks Bradius.
I do think alot about the new peeps coming online to SWG with 2500 credits and a melon. How long will it take them to afford an "average" Dunelizard?

I have not read all the patch notes, so I will again, stand corrected.
I willalso stand by the notion that even with the 75K, buying chassis', paying brokers, making ship repairs, setting ones self up in the ground game is an expensive endeavor, especially if they are buying ships and components at >3cpu. A 4cpu Dunelizard, and a few Mark II-III components will eat 75K without even a burp. I guess I don't fly as well as most of you, I find that any money I get from loot just barely pays for the ship repairs, and for any newb beginning life on the ground, well,we've all seen what armor, weapons and buffs go for.......I still see thata steady rise in one's credit "wallet" under these conditions is a long, slow, tedious process. One mans reality can be another mans dream.

if you keep having to pay for repairs then you need a much better shield.

lol...Wish it was that simple......I can't fly with this "twitch" system worth dog-poop.....Every system gets blown to smithereens before I eject (or don't)....and then I wear my black HAM bars with pride throughout the galaxy!

Personally I charge around 4-5 cpu for chassis, since I am stockpiling the SW specific resources atm I dont make components. As it stands the only really good quality SW specific I have harvested has been the high grade with 900+pe/850+oq everything else has been average to pure crap. So when the time comes and I do start making components I will most definately be charging 10 cpu for them. Right now my SBII's finish with 95-97% experimentation on Max damage somewhere around 23k+ dmg. As I have only sold to friends I charge 250k a crate of 25 and I know thats really low for them.

1cpu? wow he/she won't last long like that. I mine my own resources & decided to do chassis's by request only. Going to focus on parts, since that's where the long term business will come from. I assume my cost to mine is at .5cpu (its prob. lower but i do it just to round up) & did shopping to see pricing. I seen 10cpu & lower. even seen some level 7 & 9 parts going for just over 1cpu.
I'm averaging somewhere at 3-4cpu. Depends on the component.
On my server you go just outside coronet & every other house is selling crafted parts/ships...its crazy right now. That & some people feel they need to include their cost to gring the profession by increasing the price of parts they sell to get that money back quick.
I'm selling at what I want & going to sit back & wait for others to start to burn out.

UmmonPrime wrote:I read and read the forums and I see every SW pretty much charges 1 cpu. It just doesn't make sense to me. Do you mine ALL your own resources? It just seems like too much unless you use lots from other people. SW resources on my server are way over prices if you use a miner and I would never be able to compete at these low low prices.Maybe I've been an AS way too long.I'm just trying to get a feel for this profession before I jump all the way in it. Don't want to be caught off guard.
1 CPU and the poor sod will go broke soon. Unless his guildmembers foolishly supply him with resources. I charge 3CPU and find it hard to keep my head above water. I use heavies to extract all my materials. You really need to. 3 CPU is the absolute min anyone can price their ships at to just break even. I'm not re'ing and making firespray disks to sell either. Just making ships.

Ummm...did you read the post right above yours? Saying a blanket statement like that is just plain ignorant. Blanket statements in general show a "lack of knowledge" or "stereotyping"on a given subject. "All fat people are lazy","All Islamic people are terrorists", "All Republicans are Nazis", "All Democrats are Hippies", "All 1 cpu Shipwrights will go broke".....blanket statements don't take individual cases into account, thereby making them purely false.
Buisness is booming......
I think the people finding it difficult to keep their head above water are the Shipwrights not utilizing every facet of the profession.

I dont post very often, but this thread is worth putting in my 2 cpu. I believe the game would be pretty dull if we didnt have all types of business people, and I am all for everyone doin their own thing.
Playin to their own drum beat, or setting their own prices, or in my case givingalmost all of my products away. Gee I wonder how long I can keep going like that?
Fish my hats off to ya bro, keep up the good work, and the rest of you that are doin great in business, RIGHT ON!!
The rest of ya that want everyone to fit in your neat little ideal businessbox, get a clue.
To the original poster: You can be successful at anything you set your mind to, no matter what everyone else is doing.
As for me, what I do sell goes from 1 cpu to 30 cpu, it just depends on quality, and what it is.

Bravo!
Just because someone doesn't run their buisness exactly the same way you do doesn't make them wrong, or foolish. When all the great buisnessmen of our time, the Henry Ford's, Alexander Graham Bell's, Sam Walton's,Lee Iacocca's, Bill Gates's started with "revolutionary" ideas, they were shunned by their buisness communities, seen as "mavericks" who's ideas will lead to ruin.......well......it didn't quite turn out that way.
One of the greatest reasons a persons buisness succeeds is sheer determination to succeed, not giving up at the first sign of trouble, making adjustments, and forging ahead.
Alot of us try and do just that.
