5 Stars for Fish! He sees a segment of the market, and services it. And to top it off, he is concerned about helping the less well off new guys who will eventually be well off old guys that can afford components made of Avoh, Saseu, Ploha, Opaneinine (however it is spelled), and TripleUberPlatinum with 1000 OQ, SR, and CD. If Fish were not around, these people would not have anything to fly, get tired of the game, quit, and everybody would suffer.

Yay Fish! You keep running your business the way you see fit. BTW, I have seen your stuff and it looks fine to me. I think I have bought some of it when I was too tired to craft my own after handling 3 custom orders.

This wasn't a stab at anyone. I seriously wanted to know if 1 cpu wasthe market standard. It was an inquiry to get a feel for how everyone sells as a SW.

For the new pilots i just point them to my RE vendor. Most of the stuff is MK1 and 2 and under 10k. A really affordable way to outfit a ship to get you into space.

Thanks Bradius.

I do think alot about the new peeps coming online to SWG with 2500 credits and a melon. How long will it take them to afford an "average" Dunelizard?

At first, they either spend everything they have on the ground game to grind up their chosen profession, or they go into space. If they go to the ground game first, we as Shipwrights wont see them for a month or two, while they get their toon to a place where they can start earning a decent income, and even then, they wont be dropping tens of thousands of credits multiple times for multiple components.

If they go straight to space (like most who are intrested in JTL) how long are they going to be able to flyand have fun with only 2500 credits to start?

Either way, I try to cut them a break. I will be the first to admit I'm not making money "hand over fist", but I will tell you I'm not losing money either. Most of my income is from droids. My Astromechs, flight computers and un-programmed chips keep me busier than the ships do. I make enough to cover my expenses, plus a small margin of profit that I roll right back into expanding my buisness.

I didn't become a Shipwright to impress anyone, I did it so I would have fun. Isn't that what we all do for our $15 a month? As I slowly accumulate more income, I will attempt more lot swaps, increase my abiliy to acquire resources, and hopefully someday reach a point where my buisness practices are respected, instead of looked down upon.

Again, Thanks for the positive support Bradius.

And Malachi, I appreciate any buisness you may have sent my way, no matter how small and insignificant you may have thought it was, or, to use your own words "low end".

Actually it dosent take that long to afford one because most new pilots stay in their starter ship (which is upgradable) until they hit MK3 equipment. By that time, they have gotten a couple of pretty nice parts which they can take to a SW and have REed (I dont charge to REing parts at all) Or have sold RE components either through the bazaar or by offering it to SWs looking for KSE parts. Ive seen some RE loot vendors buying loot up to 6k per level. By the time they actually need a chassis upgrade, they have a bit of cash to buy one. There are plenty of ppl selling chassis for 1-3cu. After they upgrade the chassis they simply take their RE loot and roll it into their new ship.

I obviously have a bugged starter ship.......remains un-upgradeable. A "bugged' item in SWG? How can this be? Anyway, if this is in fact true, I stand corrected.

lol my old one is also. If you already had a starter ship from launch they didnt fix it. Fish i never said your prices were ruining the server or anything like that. You have a niche just like i do. We both provide the server with goods.

If they're charging 1cpu, they're probably getting rid of grind quality stuff. It doesn't make sense to charge 1cpu...you can barely make back miner costs at that price. I charge 2cpu for all my items, and that is probably the very low end on my server (Naritus).

Well said.

I've always thought of you as a class act, and I like to think of all of us on Shadowfire as a community, which I am glad to be a part of.

To get an upgradeable ship, you need to remove all the ships from your datapad, and go talk to the recruiter again.

Anyway, I don't know why people are always claiming that pilots are broke. I'm a 3323 Corsec pilot, and 4333 shipwright, and I've made more money from piloting than selling ships & components. I can go up and get 10-20K credits in a half hour or so of credit chips and loot (that I RE then sell).

Hi there. I to am a pilot // SW. I also sell my chassis for 1 CPU. How can I do this and stay above water you may ask? It's easy. I just take all my looted parts and RE them. Then I sell them on one of my vendors for 1k per level. Yeppers, that means 6k for a RE'd level 6 blaster.

Most of you would think that I'm insane for doing this. But wait until you have heard me out. I do my own mining. I've got at least 6 heavy BER 13s going at any time. What I do need to purchase I pay 2 cpu or less for.

Where do I get the money for these you ask? Players remember a good merchant. And all pilots would like a Master SW in thier corner. So I RE for free (hoping for disk) and they offer back packs full of spare space loot for 1 credit to my vendor. I turn around and sell these on my vendors or take a drive into town to sell the level 1s on the Bazaar for 1k each. Sometimes I'll take some rather nice RE'd parts into town to hand out to a non-AFK entertainer or any person I see actually RP'ing. Public Relations is a must!

As for my personaly crafted items... Let's just say that I only service a select clientel and my guild. Those resources I have for these items are too precious to squander. I keep them locked up tight and they do fetch a primium price. FS crafting mastery has it's bonuses.

There are some merchants on Eclipse that do believe in breathing life back into the economy. We're not trying to undercut the "other guy". We are trying to offer a fair service for a fair price though. Heck, I didn't even mind it when I caught another Master SW buying my chassis.

Message Edited to place SW's name. Say hello to Dreamweaver next time you are on Eclipse.
