Hmmm.... curiouser and curiouser.

Well no we have not been seen together. But there is a simple explanation for that. The SOE employee that forces me to play SWG all day at gun point won't allow me out of the house. Does your guy let you out of your house?

we have tried to arrange a few meet and greets in Portland but something always comes up and the outing gets canceled.. come to think of it... I do tend to black out alot and have lots of large tracks of Unaccounted time... hmmm...

Hey, I'm lvl 5 now and have a pre-nerf republic blaster so you better make sure those ninjas are at least lvl 12.

The new Meatlump camp that's cropped up outside of Coronet may cause some problems, tho.

If I want to run my business in a way that I find enjoyable for me and reasonable for my customers, yes, I do need more than one factory. Otherwise, it's just a drudge and a job of nothing but waiting, especially if I can't afford to buy every resource I need.

You can play the game however you want. Thats fine with me. And of course I'm also free to declare that I don't think we need lot swaps and that the game should not allow it.

Why can't you afford to buy resources? Aren't you selling your goods at a profit? Or are you selling master produced items for less than what the raw materials would go for?

We don't need lot swaps. I don't need them. You don't need them. Nobody NEEDs them. (note I'm making a distinction between NEED and WANT) If lot swaps didn't exist then the other methods would fill the gap. Maybe you'd rent all your lots, that would be cool by me. But don't tell me you need something that is not mandatory. You WANT it.

Lot swaps are not intended and SOE may nerf them at any time. You ought to be prepared for that eventuality, like it or not.

Your "we" statementsare very inclusive. "Some" or even "most" would be an accurate statement, and one which I agree with. But some people, in order to complete, do need the swaps. You are confusing your own view of how you play your game as the view everyone should be taking.

Why do you say 'some people' need them to compete?Who are those people? Why do they specifically need lot swaps? Why only 'some' rather than everyone? Do the people they compete with have lot swaps too?

What if those 'some' people didn't have lot swaps, then what would happen? Would they sell less? And.. ?

If nobody had lot swaps then we'd all be on equal footing. Fair, right?

I'm just differentiating between 'NEED' and 'WANT'. The original statement was that 'archi's cant do business without swap lotters'. Thats someone putting their view of how the game shoudl be on everyone and thats what I was disputing from the start.

I'm not saying using lot swaps is evil or morally wrong. I'm just saying that nobody 'NEED's it. They are not mandatory. We can operate without them.

If you feel youWANT more lots then you can rent them from an active player on your server.

Actually, I do rent. Rent, beg, borrow, and have an extra account just for the mobile lots. Nine of my harvs were part of a lot swap, but I'm the third person to have them and got them by default--I was the only one who could afford the maintenance and cared to use them; any other offers to do lot swaps I've declined. But everything else is either a live player or something a guildmate dropped for me before cancelling. (Is that any different?)

And I still think that lot swaps area viable alternative. The people that need to compete? Me, for one. If you're able to make an enjoyable living using one factory and a few harvs to make and mine everything, more to you, but to me, there's no game in that.

As for need, well, if I didn't have my extra, the sun would still come up, I'd still have air to breathe andthere'd still be food in my cupboards, but I'd be done with the game. I'm in it to craft, and if I can't, why bother? I need my extra lots to do what I'm doing.

I think, Pawlin, that it isn't your view that bothers me, it's the way you state it. Your words come across as if you feel you have the decisive word on the matter, instead of coming across as your opinion.

But How does the game get ruined if You take the few harvesters lots you are using and use those for your factories.. and just buy the resources? Raise your prices a bit to compensate? then Not only are you providing a good income for yourself but you are also providing a good income for a few other people.. Its a win win situation for everyone...

My view on it...one person running a business by themselves usually isn't a very large business. But yet that's what we have here thanks to lot swaps and the like - one person manageing multiple harvesters and running business that some retailers in the real world would be jealous of. I think that if you want to run some huge booming business that you should have to team up with others to do it. A couple people set up factories, a couple set up harvesters and start a business. But I doubt many people would agree with me - many people want to do it on their own and feel it would ruin their fun if this goes away. Eh, to each their own I guess. I don't think lot swaps are a bug or exploit. I don't think they were ever intended by the Devs either. Just another instance of the player community finding a loophole in the game mechanics and running with it. Is it wrong? Technically, no. Would I like to see it go away? Yup. I don't think it's necessary either, but then again I've always been a team player.

That would be pretty cool, wouldnt it? A Merchantile Guild where half of the team get the resources, and the other half turn them into a product to sell (as well as to keep the first half in free eqipment). You are right about the one-person WalMarts too. There is a reason why it takes a lot of people to run a big business. SWG is the exception.

It is a inconvience to anyone that uses macros to load maintenance into their structures. Static harvesters are unreleated to lot swaps tho.. 2 different terms.
