Ropock,

I will make you a deal, when prices for housing approaches 1 cpu and even I find it difficult to maintain profitability, I will shamefully join with you and the others in an illegal ( in some countries, probably not this Galaxy ) scheme to maintain profitability.

Right now my profits are so high selling for lower than most ( not all ) others I simply don’t see the need for that.

Nice to see you back though

<looks back over his post>

I'm sorry, where did I propose an illegal price fix? I simply pointed out Walmarts business theories as they are and showed how we can adapt them in the architect profession.

I also pointed out that not everything being done at these meetings is an illegal price fix... Is it wrong for them to try to keep their businesses open in the real world so that millions of people don't lose jobs if just ONE of the big 3 went out of business?

I am sureNOTEVERYTHING done in those meeting is illegal, it is certianly legal to eat doughnuts.

No, I am kidding, I have no idea what goes on in those meetings, but if they are deciding together what prices to set on products together so as they dont have to compete, that is indeed very illegal.

What OPEC did last week would be Illegal in the US.

Heh, yeah.... I don't want price fixing either, but I live a couple hours from Detroit and Flint, and an hour from Lansing so I know what kind of beating those cities take whenever the big 3 take a hit and have to lay people off. I'll be honest... and I am likely in the minority here, but I'd rather pay $1000 more for my new car than go thru what those cities went thru in the 80's and 90's with the major cutbacks the big 3 made then.

And yeah... OPEC did something that would be illegal in the US, but they've been doing that for years and years... its unfortunately not a new development... as I'm sure you know

Im surprised people still think Dayln is an architect. Come on people he is just a marksman trying to bait us b/c he wants to keep lowering prices to the point that it will be worth it for him to buy.

I sell small houses for 20k. I've sold every small house I've made for 20k, except for the first one, which I sold for 25k. And if anyone thinks that's too much, they can kiss my ass.

Dayln I am shocked and appalled that you would resort to such personal attacks. Next you'll be calling me a communist for charging what the market will allow.

I know the truth hurts and you can't be blamed for feeling bad when you realize that for all your blathering about how great your business is and how your customers love you, when it comes down to the bottom line your business model is based on subjective numbers and is doomed to all but subjective failure. Your customers love me because I deliver in minutes and they don't speak kindly of your sort when handing their credits to me. Business is PvP and you have been pwned, you just don't realize it.

TwoHead,

Dayln doesnt realy sell all that cheap...

You are aiming you fire at the wrong guy. He is just a vocal supporter of other architects ability to sell at whatever price they like. Its the ones that sell waaaay below the average that are damaging the class. The 1 cpu below market (aprox) that Dayln uses is simplyintended to give him an edge in what he sees as a declining market. The effect of this edge on the overall market and the profession is something that can be debated.

I may not chose to do business the way he does, butits a free choice that we can all make.

Thanks to in-game restrictions he shouldn't be hurting your sales (assuming he is on your server) sothere is no need to gettangled up in arguing personally with him.

Dayln,

Shame on you for the name calling

Can't we all just get along? hehe

Our Guild sells small houses for 10k, that is what our Master Arquitect told us to do, so 10.5k for a small house is kind of pricey dude. All the resources that our Architect needs are in a small storage house next to our Guild Hall so he does not have to walk to gather them.

10K for a small house is cheap. They use 3488 resources. Now figure the fair market value of said resources is 3 per unit. That equates to 10464 credits. So basically at 10.5K he is breaking even on selling the house or selling the resources.

A tad offtopic, but noteworthy to mention since it's brought up a few times. While the pricing scheme the OPEC uses is illegal IN the US. The US uses the same principle when dealing on the worldmarket aswell.

More examples of things the US, Europe and most "powers"(as a nation or organisation of nations) use that would be considered illegal inside their own borders:

  • Price dumping (selling corn, that costs $600+ to produce, on the worldmarket for less then $150 and outdriving third world countries that produce it for $250. Happens with Sugar, Coffee, Corn, Weats, Meat and a whole slew of other products)

  • Monopolysing, we all should know the "buy US products first" (even if someone else can deliver it cheaper, better and faster) law that is imminent.

  • Cornering markets and closing them completely for competitors (Not allowing Steel to be imported)

  • Keeping people hostage, while understandable, it would be highly unthinkable that US citizens would be held in captivity by the law enforcement powers for a long time without formally being charged of a crime. (Guantamo Bay)

  • Assassination of unwanted elements or if you prefer: "Executing a death penalty with a fair trial"(Hamas leaders by Israel)

  • Kidnapping (Abdullak Öcalan Leader of the PKK that was abducted by MIT (Turkey), the Mossadand the CIAfrom Kenya)

It's realy offtopic, but important to understand to see that the OPEC example, or any other international example, realy has no relevance in these discussions, nor the mention "they have been doing it for years" (so did, and still do, we). Laws vary from state to state and country to country and international trade as a whole isn't formally bound to ANY rule or law.

I don’t price dump, I just sell at around 10-% to 20-% below the going rate. Contrary to popular belief my prices are not all that low.

I sold a Small house this morning for 8.5k
I sold a Med house yesterday for 55k
I have a Large house for sale on my vendor for 120k
The going rate on my server for those is about 9k, 60k, and 135k

Because I defend peoples rights to sell at any price folks often assume I am one that sells houses for 3k, I don’t. But I defend their right to choose their own price. I am all for the open market economy. I’m not some ultra liberal politician that wants regulation and control of what everyone can compete at.

Selling for a little below the going rate but still at HUGE profits from the resources I create at less than a half a credit each works for me.
