OCEAN PLATFORMS!!!

Here's my logic.

Corellia and Naboo have large oceans. These oceans, while large, have an unattractive quality...they take up space on the planet maps and are unusable.

Ocean Platforms would be used to make floating cities on the ocean. Think Kamino from AoTC, but not so big or technical.

These plaforms could connect, forming a larger platform. Imagine houses, small and large, connected by walkways and railings, with the bank, med building, cloner, cantina, city hall, etc. in the center.

Make the platforms large enough for vehicles and players to walk around. This would make use of the empty space that is being thrown away on the oceans.

But, in order to prevent faction cities from making un-raidable ocean cities, the platforms would be big enough to manage large groups of players.

Also, ocean platforms for harvesters would be beneficial for mining resources off the coast.

Special docks would go on the edges of the cities, to allow people with vehicles to land on and dismount. They should have ramps that lead up from the water's edge to the platform level.

From the Star Wars EU, many places had platforms. Mon Calamari, Bestine (the sea planet, not the Tat Imp city), Kamino, and others.

I would love to have a city in the ocean to go to after a long day of mountain climbing and cave exploring and desert wandering.

***Oh yeah, shuttle ports too, forgot those.

Hi! New architect on the forum here. And I have a few "I really want!!!"-issues:

1. A shipbuilders workshop-sorta-building, now when Jths is arriving soon.

2. Different workshops for the different crafters. WIth storagecompartments or something. I am sick and tired of using vendors, drois and what not. Some sort of storage locker.

3. Different military structures, like radars, StS (surface to Space) turrets, just for the scenery... Stuff like that.

"I am what you refer to as scum! I am a Bounty Hunter! Bounty hunters are scum! I hunt jedi, for the pleasure and the cash. When I am on your tail, Jedi, you better stand and fight, because if you run, your death will just take longer.

I would like a Workshop building. Maybe something with a large display area in front that can be used to sell our wares. Must have high item count limit and be usable by Master crafters only. Can be mutiple workshop types, onefor each of the crafter professions. made with a factory built in.

Or take it one step farther and make a all encompassing factory for Master Crafters that is one building, enterable, has ability to perform as all factories, living quarters, workshop and display area. Would remove the need for so many buildings, decrease the running around caring for mutiple factories and homes.

Either way i want a building for Crafters that anyone walking by can tell is a crafters. Something that does not look like every house in the city will help with traffic into shops.

i really like the post office idea-great for merchants-mail order business. that would eliminate having to travel the other side of the galaxy to get those rare resources you bought off the bazaar. this is an excellent idea.

i would also like to throw in my support for the arena idea. i know many towns are putting together makeshift combat arenas just for fun. why not create large, seated arenas that would provide a really exciting environment for that?

but here's my biggest pet peeve--------TERRAFORMING. I hate how unpredictible it is placing structures. i say this speaking as a mayor. there have been many times when my community planned to place a certain thing in a certain place and it wont go. i can get it to go somewhre else that doesnt apear any different than the place it wouldnt go. very frustrating. it would be nice in our advanced technological society if we could do a little terraforming, like bulldozers do in our current world. not too difficulta concept-large ranger camps change the ground shape-why not allow structures being placed in player city's to do the same thing-and dont let rocks, trees, flowers or any of that crap get in the way of our progress! rant complete.

some bridges would be nice too, especially if the mayor could rotate them to different degrees, like furniture can be in houses.

that's my 2 credits.

almost forgot....pavement, cobbles, something on the ground like a real city would have to make it look like city. without the ground covering it will never look like more than an old wild west town with its dust streets.

Iquite like all the ideas I've heard here, especially the post office, warehouse, apartment complex and manor house.

The one thing I would add a request for is not really a structure... I want signs. Obviously you would have to mouse over it to read it, but at least it's better than using statues or streetlamps, which are particularly ill-suited for this use since they can't be re-named, and they've become so ubiquitous in player cities that people rarely mouse over them any longer.

Just a simple signpost that you can name with a message, and more importantly, re-name. Maybe it changes appearance for a day or two, or includes a lightthat blinks for a while if a new or particularly important message is posted. Something that mayors can use to make an announcement without having to stay logged in all day in order to use a barker droid (saves on the spatial-annoyance factor too). You could also have a different model that could be used specifically for street signs.

    Player Gardens

What would really also be cool and give a lot more personalisation would be player gardens. Bound to the "land" around every house, you can manipulate the shape of the terrain, and place items like trees and outdoor furniture (-> Architect)there at nolot cost.(no other items, its no sense to solve the item storge problem this way...)

The size of the land that is now used by a house would completely satisfy the space needs for start, maybe there could be a "large personal garden or park" as an additional lot-taking structure (->Architect)that only occupies the land (no building restrictions of hills, rivers and so on - why not openinga park in the mountain area somewhere...), but with the possibility to design your own garden (with roads, trees, fountains, benches) - lovely for RP and for every others eyes.

    Greetings

How about the possibility of customizing the coloring on the houses and structures we can build. All of the housing templates, while nice, are so drab and cookie cutter in the fact that there is never any difference. Looking at a group of small naboo houses in a row next to each other is boring. Having the ability to decide what color the house will be on the outside, as well as on the inside, will offer a bit more flexibility for the person making the structure to put his/her own personal signature on it. Even better, let the person buying the structure be able to change the color. I'd also like the ability to choose the color on furniture. Let's face it, some of the colors chosen for us are hideous.

All these ideas sound great... im just grinding to become an architect my self, and im really excited and hope at least some of these ideas come into play, as it is quite well known that Armorsmiths & Weaponsmith and now chefs tend to be the money waggon to get on, i found chef to be borring and i haven't even tryed the others. but the prof sounds much funner and has so much potential i want to get it asap.

If anyone has any tips on grinding send my a PM or an ingame mail to -Logan- which is my toon for architect, id love to share the fun with others, as grinding can be mighty ardious, and if anyone knows where i can get my hands on cheap resources,as im not a millionare like most lol.

Not an architect but a WS and I always thought it would be cool if there was a lootable schematic for architects to build a "Highly Organized Tool Chest". This toolchest when placed in a structure would allow that structure to hold 50 more items. Or something like that.

And a Warehouse structure would be cool. Say M. Artisan could place a Small Warehouse, 1 lot, 200 item storage. Master all other crafting professions would be allowed to place Large Warehouse, 2 lots, 500 item storage. These warehouses would be accessed from normal radial menu and inventory window like a factory.
