all resources that you can safely sample is the same. Only difference is the amount that you sample.

Why am I losing resources I can survey for, such as gemstones?

They shift usually in a week for most of the resources. Floral can last longer like up to two to three weeks. Same for hides, meat, and bone. My guess is that something you were surveying for (gemstones) actually shifted. No worries. There will be plenty of other shifts coming around. Some resources shift more often then others. So, you may have to wait a couple weeks/months to get what you are specifically looking for. And if you want uber resources you might have to wait a little longer. Best to stockpile the good stuff when it comes around. Hope this helps.

I think I noticed that you get better experiance if you successfully sample from lower consentrations.

It may be my imagination though.

Get a sampling macro (look in the FAQ's), set up in a city somewhere so you don't wander all over the place, and leave your character on overnight a few times.

And find the highest concentration of something that you can. Chemical and Gas are the likely ones to find in high concentration in a city. Something in the 90's would be ideal.

Don't let the negative AFKophobes get you down. Play the game however you want.

Is the beta testing almost over for this game?

I have a TV next to my computer... so I set the macro to survey while I watched TV. I really hate having to do things like that. There really is no other way to get up the survey tree though.

I still wonder why you don't get any surveying experience for surveying...

Is there any perticular system that anyone has found to locate the higher concentration of resources when surveying a planet? Or is there a way to "predict/plot out" where the higher spots are?

Trial and error is what I use. That and communicating with other crafters I know and sharing waypoints. Guildies who have any surveying are good for that. I believe swgcraft.com only talks about qualities and resources available, not waypoints. I could be wrong, however, so you might try there.
