That said. Let me say, I'm really angry about the fact that they scrapped the Urban Designer. Why? Simple. It was our chance to weed out the non-serious. There are too many "retired" architects who built a few homes for their friends and then went off to other professions.

Having the Urban designer would have forced them to drop one of these professions and start grinding. Something they probably would not be likely to do considering that it's probably cheaper to just buy what you need. (I mean, how many of you started off as guild architects and realized when you hit master, you spent 3 times as much training to architect than if you had just made a bounty hunter andBOUGHT everything you ended up making for the guild).

So having it as an elite-elite profession would have limited it to fewer people, who would have been willing to do what it took to get their skill up so they could make these buildings. It would have been only for the serious most likely. It would have allowed them to finally compete on a different level.

Now? The "retired architects" are going to "come out of retirement" and make a few city buildings, taking away business from the serious full time architects. Then like locusts, once the business starts to dry up they'll "retire" again, leaving us to fight for whatever scraps are left like we do now. This is going to be even more of a problem on the smaller population servers (which seems to be most of them, what's up with that? Saturday night, and only a couple servers showing medium loads?) Anyway, I'm sure the Devs won't bother looking at this or considering it. It seems like they gave us this player economy without putting much thought into keeping it viable.

I just wanted to get that off my chest.

1) Most "retired" architects have long ago sold back their skill points, so if they start showing up again, it will only be after grinding back up the trees.Who do you think is going tolet63 skill points just go to waste if they can use them for something else?

2) I don't see how you can possibly call yourself a serious architect if you aren't also a master artisan and a master merchant, which wouldn't leave you with any points for an elite-elite profession. (This is sarcasm, although it does describe my character, and was a template I put together in order to try to be the best architect I could be as a single character)

I doubt I'll be doing any city structures anyway since I'm not in a guild, but the idea that I'm not a "serious" architect just because I don't have the points left to add an elite-elite class would offend me if it didn't just make me laugh.

I'll amend by saying I support City Hall being a Master Structure, but the rest should be spread through Construction similar to the way it is (though I'd rate shuttleports and city halls as tougher than gardens).

what, u mean forty-some-odd points isn't enough to master an elite elite profession after triple master in archi, artisan, merchant? (ah yes, a serious master architect should also have novice Droid Engi for the droid storage compartments and novice tailor for the synthetic cloth, and for those of us that want to try and like the profession, we also get some chef skills in order to make more 'decorations' for our line of work, with spice being readily available to buy/get from others).

scrap player cities in the whole and the players will stop arguing and band together again...(even if it's directed against SOE), because this is BS. why should mix-n-match players get benefits while mastery suffers? it's called jack-of-all-trades, not king-of-all-trades. go away or i'll throw my master archi crafted armoire at you.

many "retired" archis also have their daddy's credit card paying for a 2nd BH/commando/CMed account, and made archi in a day with purchased ore to make their "Xterminator Death Squad Terminatrix Roolz" PA Hall. It really is no pain to master our profession now that appr pts can be farmed and they just take the commando out for a day in dathomir for all their npc training credits. (with personal harvs giving artisan xp, getting to master architect takes at most 10hrs of grind time)

it's far too easy to get archi. the variety in items we can make are far too bland to create steady demand for our products. the items we can make does not depend on quality and the 5% or so difference in storage space ain't gonna matter much to most fighter guildmates lending out their lots. we can't even give a good reason to get prices of a large harv to over 75k. (i simply stopped selling anything but master furniture and resources now, and harvs/houses to return customers only)

the hide in your own little world way of doing it might be getting your guild crafter to take up some archi for a while to get your town hall. if that's what u want to do, go right ahead. some of us prefer to enjoy the game with others. (suggestion: try BF1942 or NetCiv)

I agree, I do not think any city building should be thrown to anyone but a MASTER ARCHITECT.

One more thing:

As I read through some of these posts I see some of you say it gives construction some meaning.............hmmm well all I can say, once I was able to do better expirements I got harvesters running for me way more efficient, that in itself is worth the dam construction line.

I might be wrong, but I doubt it

I disagree that the city stuff should all be in master. The original idea of Urban Planner being Elite-Elite was a stupid one anyway and it's rightlfully gone. The construction branch should be changed to the "Urban Planning" branch perhaps. As for a "a one branch shmoe being able to build his own city" when is this going to happen? Who besides the architect has enough ore to build a city hall?20 walls is a LOT of ore and metal, and that's just the start. The only people building cities are going to be either master architects or people with the backing of a PA.

Also, I'd rather allow the PA/City planners to be able to get just one branch of architect if all they want is a city. Moving PA halls into Master Arch caused the huge glut of master architects we have now because the devs ignored our beta warnings that PAs would powerlevel their Archs up just to get a PA hall. Look what thta did to prices. You really want wanabee Politicians powerleveling architect secondaries up to master just so they can build their cities now too?

people come on this is not a game for powergamers/grinders only.

#1 - You're off track.
#2 - I play for about 2 hours a night AT MOST

I think it's really funny that someone who plays for "2 hours a night at most" doesn't consider themselves a powergamer. I don't want to start a whole thing here, but 2 hours a day isn't "casual play". Casual play is 2 hours every other day, or maybe 45 minutes a night. If someonewent to the theater and watcheda 2 hour movie every night, would you call them a "casual moviegoer"? If someone drove two hours to get to work every day, would you call them a "casual commuter"?

Ok, so time alone doens't make a powergamer. But remember that the devs want to appeal to the "casual" player also, and 2 hours a night isn't casual gaming.

I think Heavy harvesters, large houses and factories should all be moved to Master too, with only Architects being able to use Heavies and Large houses. They're changing CH and DE now so that Masters get "perks" and trying to eliminate the "dabblers". So do the same for Architect as we have the least return business without decay. Cities are going to be limited so much that there will beDOZENS of MASTER ARCHITECTS competing to build the Cities. We don't need another few hundred single tree dabblers coming in and working for .05 credits per unit just... because.

There's so many "dabblers" in Architect now it's sad (they want to build themselves a couple factories and medium harvesters), adding the City buildings to anything but Master is a slap in the face to those of us that have put up with the broken factories, bugged harvesters, half-a$$ed experimentation, lack of more than half the furniture seen around any town on the server and the list goes on...

SOE is doing a good job...

Making their customers cancel accounts.

Yes I'm pissed. Yes, there is so much sarcasm in this post you may choke on it. Yes, I'm holding out because I can see the prospect of a sweet game. Too bad SOE doesn't seem to see it.

I think they should move up city hall, I mean it requires the most resources out of all our schematics and you don't get the schematic at Master level, theres something completely wrong about that. However the rest of structures are fine where they are in my opinion, no point in filling up the Master box with like 30 schematics.
