Thread: The Galactic Civil War: An Architect's Role!
This is more in keeping in line with a player run economy.
Great Ideas!
Bump for ATTENTION.
DEVS...make this happen, a great idea!
As to the question whether architects should have to chose sides to be involved in the Galactic Civil War, I am going to have to say no. A player (or organization) can be neutral and still be involved in the war. By providing the tools for the war, architects can be directly involved, but they wouldn't have to be on one side or the other.
Granted, there would be an added benefit and fun factor if an architect was actively involved on one side, but it should not be a requirement. The only way to effectively gain faction points is through battle, after all. If a character was not up for fighting, making building enhancements or repairing buildings would be a great way to be a part of the war.
Adune: I see you've got 8+ heavies on that SWEET 91% steel spot on Talus. Kudos to you for the nice find and subsequent strip mine of the area! Oh, nice GCW idea too!

Keep it coming, I'd like to see some dev attention on this thread.
This is what Ive been saying for months. Very well developed, though. Perhaps declared architects could build these, and then you would need faction points to "power" them.

Just an idea to throw in the mix when i thought about sieging cities...
How bout we wait till player vehicles come out, so we can have siege units of some sort? An artillery vehicle (or maybe even pet, but that's edgy) would be perfect.
My idea for architect utility is for houses to be divided into rooms, which the owner assigns each room a purpose (workshop, rest/medical, cantina, storage, etc). Each room gains a utility bonus/penalty for the quality of its furnishings. The things in the room could be subject to usage decay, or not.
For GCW structures (Guard Tower, Assault Tower, Building Enhancer) - how about having the basic structures being relatively cheap to make/destroy, but alot each one 4 or so slots 'Structure Enhancing Attachments'. These could be made by a combination all the classes, or each class having its own attachments, whatever. The attachments would be what gives the structure its real punch. When a structure is destroyed however, the attachments could be salvaged from the wreck - something like a 25% chance for non-architects, and a higher amount for architects, depending on skill level - this would be the booty for the victor! Even the subcomponents of whatever attachments could be put up as salvage.
Going one step further on the salvage idea - a type of attachment could be a 'self-destruct' requiring a slicer to defuse before the structure is destroyed - yes, in the middle of a battle - or the resulting destuction will lower the salvage chance on the other components.
This is the best idea I have heard from any poster from any board.
Great Idea!
Adune,
Well thought out. Great idea.
Go put in an application at SoE. They need you.
