Thread: Architect Profession slowly dying
I am a know architect on Corbantis. I sell only the best, and failures go out for petty cash (a BER 12 heavy is on there for 5k). I have over 180 Deeds, Houses harvesters and factories. I sell hvy mins at 135k, fusions at 124k, others at 100k, med's at 20k, PA hall at 350k, lrg house 85k, med 60k, small 5k, factories at 35k each. I have not sold anything, anything at all, in3 weeks.
It used to be one couldn't go across Naboo, or Corellia, heck even Endor, without feilds of placed deeds in your way. Now many places are barren. Hologrinding was good because it gave everyone incentative to buy machines for grinding resources. Hologrinding is ending. Folks are quitting, either boredom or frustration...go pick a reason. No new folks are joining due to bad release press, or AP point PIA... again, go pick a reason. So we have a glut of deeds, that do not decay, that no one uses, and no new blood incoming. It's a classic enclosed business model. If your still doing well, great! But it will end, and soon. We either get something (nothing specific mentioned here), that can decay/destroy/explode/consume, or following the enclosed business model we will stagnate & die. It's simple math.
My business is up and down and I've had to adjust how much stuff I buy from miners to make sure that my income exceeds my expenses in the long run. I have my vendor on the planetary map and a network of satisfied customers. I sell furniture on the Bazaar in Theed (my showroom is immediately south of the Theed starport) with a description and waypoint to my showroom. When someone buys something, I send them an email with a waypoint telling them I have lots of other stuff.
When I get too busy with harvesters, or playing my character on Chilastra, or just tied up in the physical world to neglect the Bazaar and email followup part of my marketing, I notice a drop-off in people flowing through my showroom. So even with the ups & downs, there are some definate "must do" items for me that I can improve on.
I think it's slowing down a bit overall but I think there are things you can do to keep the wolf from your door.

I will make one point, having no decay does suck. I buy a shield generator for 15k it's wasted in an hour of heavy game play if I leave it on. Someone buys a house from me for 10k, they have it forever. Then again, how would you implement such a decay? Based on time? Imagine losing your internet service for a week or something, not only do you lose a 100k+ house, but all the items in it. Even worse, a guild hall. Plus over the course of a real life time, houses really don't "decay" do they? What abouta house fireorflood due to lack of the architect's skills, or forgetting to pay maintainence. I can see factories and harvesters decaying, they all have moving parts.
One idea was servicable 'parts' or repair items for decay/damage on structures.
What if every month or two an architect, or architect parts, were needed for upkeep on structures - add a dozen wall units to your house to repair it or something like that?
