Thread: Everything you ever wanted to know about Fusion Generators.
So if you have a Fusion Reactor you use your mineral survey tool to find a good source of Radioactive Energy, place your fusion reactor on it, pay the maintenance fee and it will start harvesting the raw material and turn it into fusion energy whichyou usefor your harvestors the same way as you would wind or solar energy. If you want the raw material itself (for schematics) you need to use a mineral harvestor for that and not a fusion reactor.
Is this correct?
After endless searching for information on fusion reactors I finally stumbled upon this thread. Finally my questions are answered! Just wanted to thank the guy who posted it and also I am replying to get it bumped up again for others.
How much do these things usually sell for? On Tempest I just pre-ordered one and I think I got a really good price but Im curious to know the average price they usually go for?
Thanks,

You are correct.
I run two fusion reactors, sometimes alternating to only one when I get way far ahead in power stockpiles. At any given time I have either sixteen or eighteen harvesters running (depending if I have my factory up at the time or not) and most of them are heavies. The fusions provide more than adequate power for those harvesters.
However, radioctive resources can and do dry up on occasion, as has been noted. So I also keep a pair of solar deeds in my backpack as insurance against the hard times. They wouldn't power all my harvesters, but they would slow the bleed rate a fair bit until a new radioactive source popped up.
good god that does not cost enough money to maintain! -.- every other heavy I've seen costs like 50 -.- and 4.5k to redeed -.-
sil
To be complete, below are the daily requirement for everything (sorry don't know how to do table in this forum):
maintainence / power / rated resource extracted / redeed
personal 720 cr / 600 pwr / 2,880 resource / 1,500 cr
medium 1,440 cr / 1,200 pwr / 5,760 resource / 3,000 cr
heavy 2,160 cr / 1,800 pwr / 10,080 resource / 4,500 cr
wind 1,440 cr / --- / 7,200 power / 3,000 cr
solar 1,440 cr/ --- / 11,520 power / 3,000 cr
fusion 1,440 cr/ --- / 18,720 power / 3,000 cr
They all use only one lot each.
The actual resource/power extracted is the rated * the efficiency (the number you get when surveying).
The drawback of fusion is that oftena planet will go days with no radioactives. It looks to me like radioactives alternate with solid fuel. So you might go nearly a week with no energy coming in if all you use is fusion and you don't want to go to more than one world for harvesters.
Solar and wind, on the other hand, seem to always be available (at least on Chilastra/Naboo).
Still, fusion will make tons of energy in a short time, take one lot, and have exactly the same maintenance as solar or wind harvesters. So even at 100k they will pay for themselves in a couple weeks of use, tops.
