Otherwise you could try to make it simple: Just make it so that a house can hold lots * 50 furniture without counting towards item limit, or something like the

If they adopted that style though they would just make it where you couldn't have containers in house, and you couldn't stack anything... it would all be tangable so you couldn't walk through it etc. they would make the resource containers proportional to each other. meaning 1 mineral container would be small but 100k would be a pretty large container etc etc... you can't say space on a system where the size of things arn't proportionate. and you can store 50 million resources in a 1 foot by 1 foot pack.
Id just leave well enough alone and push for the set amount we should have anyways. 1 lot = 75 Items.. and tell em we want our missing storage on larges andguild buildings. Leave it to me to be logical and over analize it.. but hey someone has to.

I'm not an architect, but...I'm one of those people that has 5 mediums, 3 square smalls and 2 rounds. They are spread out over 4 accounts...but...
Initially, a LONG time ago, I dropped a large house. I was soooo excited. Then I was downcast. The house cost 6 plots and had room for 150 items. Well, at the time smalls had the same...the exact same...so did mediums. I posted a holy cow post and everyone thought I'd gone fruitcake because I was complaining. Well, then later everyone was up in arms about the whole thing and the devs changed it. Its still totally unequal and unfair...and just...illogical. But...that's kinda how the devs have acted all along.
House item storage should be based on a per lot basis. Large houses should take 4 lots and store 75 items per lot for a 300 total item storage. Small rounds = 75, Small squares=2 lots/150 items, Mediums=3 lots/225 items. PA halls should cost the dropper no lots (IF the PA Hall is used a PA and not as a residence and there should be an option to use it as either...but it must be chosen at the time of the drop), but hold at least 300 items. Town Halls should cost no lots as they are a town structure and not a private one. I think they should hold about the same as a PA hall...they have less room, so it could be a slightly less number.
Cantinas and Hospitals should be put on an equal footing and cost no more than 4 lots and not less than 2. I think the needed item count for decorating either structure would not be more than a Large House. Theatres should be revamped cause they are just not functional buildings and very useless.
I could go on and on about unfair practices in SWG that are directly because of the Devs' shortsightedness and lack of logical thinking skills, but I won't because some are not related to this issue. It IS an issue that I believe needs to be fixed, badly.
Trust me about this though...you don't want the devs playing around with decaying your structures...look how they implemented clothing decay. ROFL I think you seriously need something, but I'm not able to think of what would be appropriate...and if you let the devs do it...it will be something ludicrous like...oh yeah...everytime you die, whether insured or not...you lose 5% of your structure's integrity which causes your maintence to go up. *nods* yeah its about as logical as what they did to clothing. LOL
See you guys on the flip side, thanks for listening to a consumer.

Some good thoughts here peeps... Keep em coming, we're sure to come up with an air tight soloution that the Dev's can't refuse (If we haven't already that is...)

lets just agree the current system suxs. large houses cost 6 Lots. Cmon a PA Hall Costing 9 lots cannot be decorated and hold items because of its low item capacity for the lots being used.
Just plain and simple math.
make lots = 50 items
make lots = 75 items
I dont care which really, but even it out.
