Thread: Quote that may help get your heads out of your butt Architects...
Two great ideas I've started implementing today .....
1. Friends wanting deep discounts on heavy equipment. I sell em small harvesters at 750 a piece and tell em how much ore, aluminum and steel they need to mine for me to make it for them.
2. Other Architects complaining about my prices being to low. I tell em, just buy whatever I'm selling and go out and get the extra 2 cr per you think I should be selling at.
3. Logged in as an unknown in another account and started asking architects for heavy equipment and houses, low and behold, more architects selling willing to sell at 3cr per. Perhaps some of the very ones on this board claiming they sell for 5cr per.
Finaly, here is your thought for the day.
The customer base for heavy equipment and houses is declining. That means they'll be able to be more picky and demand cheaper prices. Prices are going to keep going down relative to server GNP. There isn't a big enough money sink in this game.
There isn't a big enough money sink into this game... yet. Once the expansion comes out next year I imagine that will be a huge sink. Plus the fact that insurance is off right now is another factor that's contributing to the 'excess' of funds.
Anyway on to other matters. Charge what you want for your stuff. Just ask yourself what your time is worth. Many people claim to be casual players, indeed even many of the architects, that can only play for a few hours a day. How long does it take you and your friends to collect the resources from the extractors? Personally I'd rather sell for 4-5c/u, have fewer sales, a smaller bank account, and spend time interacting with my comrades than spend all my time looking for resources, and crafting the items.
It's all about personal gaming preference.
Btw: I'm not a casual player. I work 2, maybe 3 days a week (it's all I need to pay my bills) and spend the rest of my time gaming or reading.
Im not going to restate my agruements, it's pointless, its all been said.
I would like to congragulate architects on both sides of this agrument, for the most part everyone remained intelligent and posted some intresting points. It had been entertaining reading your posts during server off time.
I think we will see prices stablize on both size. The people selling too low getting way to many order, the customers will start paying more just not to wait (cause most have to much money to do with anyways so they could care less). The people selling cheap to earn xp for themselves or for their guild to make a guild house will eventually reach master and stop caring about xp and their time will be worth more to them.
The people selling for to much will start getting fewer and fewer customers and will want to sell more items at a little cheaper of a cost per unit.
By reading these forums I would say it's about 50/50 of people selling high and low. Their is a middle ground and the longer the game has come out the closer these two sides will come together.
Great point made about insurance being off currently. That is causing a flood of money to be put into the market and allowing people to have smaller prices. Let us also remember that server economics are tied to galaxies not the entire universe (what may be on one server may not be on another). I think once people have to start paying for insurance that they will think twice about selling a small house for 5K. I for one tend to sell at market value...HOWEVER I'm not going to say something to another architect for what they want to sell their wares. If a customer is looking for a product they tend to buy it at first bid...or so it is on my server.
lol you all need to calm down! have a beer or something. People will do what they want, it makes the game challenging.

"I'm not a newb, and I'm not stupid either, you ignorant loudmouthed idiot.
I sell for what I want to sell for, and if I could switch to Eclipse right now and take away all your business for being a rude, inconsiderate overcharging oaf, I would.
I'm sick of people telling me what I should do, go play for yourself and quit worrying about whateveryone else is doing."
No... I think he's right... if you're selling for less than the going rate of resources on the bazaar, then yes, you are stupid. Or, as I like to say Economically Deficient. It may have taken a genious to come up with the ideas that John Nash came up with, but it doesn't take a genious to understand them... basically, the best and most profitable scenario comes with architects work together with their pricing, rather than competing with each other and undercutting each other. I'm sure you'll find, as a master architect, that if you charged 7 or even 10 credits per resource for PA halls and heavy equipment, you'd still sell them as fast as you can make them. We have demand on our side... but it's up to us to be SMART enough to use that to our advantage. So while you, as a person, are probably not stupid... you aren't playing very smart by charging less than 3 credits per unit. Not only that, but you're ruining the market for other architects.
Actually, I charge WAY more than 3 credits per resource, but when I started out as a young Architect, I had no choice. The market set the price, not me. Young Architects who are forced by the market to sell for less than they'd like to have been derided and berated since this board began. My point is, it's unfair to sling insults and names at someone because they're trying to survive, and that's what led to the post you quoted above, Azmodean. I just got so mad I blew.
Also, the price of flour and eggs and such may have some small effect on the price of a cookie, but it doesn't determine the entire price of the cookie, the baker does.
Someone selling for 2.95 credits per (a small house at 10K) is NOT losing money, no matter who you quote or what creative discussions you come up with. If it's costing you 2.95 credits per resource to run your harvesters, then *you* are stupid, not the person selling for 10K.
John Nash was a genius, but I don't need to be one to run my harvesters and collect resources for significantly less than 3 per.
You all keep your 3 weels backorders and ill take all the people that want it fast and will pay for it..I have 2 days backorder tops and sell for 2-3x what some of these "busy" people are selling for..Mypeople want it fast and i make it fast and sell everything i can make a day..
So the main point is I can make 3 PA halls every 2 days..Guy down the road can do the same..My PA is 2x what his is..I sell all i make and have 1-2 days backorder tops and he has 3-4 weeks..So in a week, after filling all my orders and having happy customers i made 2 x what he did nad start getting some of his people that have waited a week and are sick of it..
Point is speed not having a month worth of orders as the backend orders will get filled by someone charging more and has the resources to make this items needed... Keep selling low and get that backorder list going strong :-)

hey bud...i dont even waste my time in this forum....there are really few people worth discussing anything with and the place is over run by the Cabal of Evil crafters...
as an example of what the original poster was trying to say...in the last two days my harvestors have finally pulled enough ore out of the ground to build a medium house...in that same time my friend has a MILLION credits running missions....
anyway, the real problem i think with architects started the first couple of weeks and i really blame the PAs ....not the actual PA people but the Devs bad move of requiring them to have that huge hall that a master has to build..they all wanted one ASAP and where leveling their guys with great speed...this of course created a glut of deeds that i think flooded the market for the UXP and drove the prices way down...once the PAs had their guilds I noticed there are no longer 10 people peddling them in the streets for less the cost of a round trip ticket to Lok..
PAs are now selling for about 350...ironic since any PA with a few members could EASILY cough up a couple of million now...
""Fact is, youcan be a successful Architect sellingsmalls at 5K, 10K, 15K or 20K+ and comparable pricing for other structures.""

my father taught me that working smarter, not harder was the way to go.
From day 1 of this game, I grinded and never sold a thing under or equal to fair market value, or fmv. the fmv for material usually rat 4-6c per unit. I always charged 6-8c depending on factory use, component parts, and time frame. Needless to say. I sell small houses for 17k each, mediums for 80k, and large homes for 200k. Medium Harvesters 30-45k, fusion generators for 200k, and heavy harvesters for 200k. Im not backed up in customers, I supply each service in a timely fashion, usually same day, next day deals, unless a shift just started and its a day or two afterwards. I have no problems with it, I haggle and deal with the next person wanting things. I buy under priced structures from other merchants, and resell them at my rates.
So, work harder my fellow architects. I'll keep working smarter
And you know what? I sell the things anyway. Because as one of the architects here pointed out (the disturbing one who has an angry nutcase reply to just about every other post) these guys 'have backorders like crazy!' ... And people want their houses, harvesters, furniture, etc, NOW.
You want to make money as an architect? Here's a tip. Have your deeds onhand when you sell. Be able to provide people with what they want when they ask, and you will sell things at the price you want. These architects selling at 2-3x resource aren't your competition - their market target are cheapskates and inept people who don't know how to make creds in-game. It'll take most people an hour at most to come to the conclusion they'd rather pay 150k - no bull - for a medium house on the spot, than wait four days to scam an architect willing to sell for far cheaper. Put simply, don't be angry at the fools and the desperate undercutting you. They're hurting themselves alone. They just don't realize it, because their customers play to their egos and praise them for their work - always a sign someone is a big, big sucker.
Yeah that whole my customers love me cause i sell at cheap prices crap is bull..Those same people will sell you out for 100 credits less..I also buy out cheap architects and kept one in backorders for 2 weeks making stuff for me to sell..
What you all dont understand by selling cheap is that the smarter people are still running you..You like those big orders from second account dont you..On top of that most of the people your selling to think your a sucker not a nice guy or gal..
Anyone selling PA halls under 150k on starsider please call me ill take 30...
