Nope. The only things that matter for the mining components (e.g., OMU) are resources that have HR/SR/UT. Gas doesn't have any of those so you can use any crappy gas you want. Same goes for chemicals - that's why we use Lube Oil rather than Fiberplast or Polymer - Lube Oil doesn't have HR/SR/UT and so can't hurt your quality.l

/thank Zen!

I appreciate your formula as I have been troubled with poor attempts at crafting uber OMU's. I'll definitely keep your tips handy as I try again!

Hmm...that is interesting about not being able to hit 97%.... Thanks everyone again for the help. I am going to start making OMUs soon now. Thank you everyone.

If your OMU's were 97% then the only other possibilities that I see are this:

  • You got a crit failure on experimentation at one point.

  • Your resources do not have stats where HR/SR/UT are all over 900.

Gen turbines - structure mods etc do not make any difference in the combine.

Okay, I'm starting to get really frustrated. I've been asked to craft a BER 13 Mineral Heavy. I've got awesome resources and was able to experiment my OMU to 97%. I thought my troubles were easy from that point. My small Structure Storage Mods also came out quite nicely.

When I put it all together, I could only get a BER of 11 and I was quite disappointed. I've got 12 points in experimentation and some pretty good resources. Am I overlooking something?

I'm wondering if the Generator Turbines have any overal affect. EIther I'm standing at the wrong crafting station or I'm using the wrong tool--I don't have the ability to experiement on those. I either get a prototype or I get a schem.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

cosno is right - the ONLY thing that determines your final BER is the quality of your mining components AND the quality of your final assembly.

Did you use the same quality (i.e., high HR/SR/UT) minerals for the final assembly? Did you use lube oil anyplace it called for chemical?

Why don't you give us the specs on your materials for the final assembly and what your experimental results (percentage) were for the final assembly and we'll help you figure it out?

I see....but now if you have polymer for chemicals with real good stats you would want to use that wouldn't you?

It would take 1000 SR 1000 UT Polymer to be the equivalent of any crap lube oil. Why not save the good polymer for an Armorsmith and use 1 cpu lube oil as filler?

The only thing that matters for combine on this is the steel, "other metal" slot, the chemical and the OMU. If your OMU is 97%, one of the other three is lowering your experimentation drastically, especially with 12 points of experimentation.

Use lube oil to eliminate the chemical. Make sure the steel / other metal has a hr/sr/ut average of 950 and you will make ber 12's everytime. I usually experiment 4 points, 3 points and 2 points to hit ber 13.

Okay guys, I thought I would make another go at this whole Heavey Mineral Extractor schem and report my stats to see if there's anything I should be doing differenly...

For my OMU's I've started to use the Lube Oil. The stats on my Steel are HR-960, SR-951, and UT-989. I experiment to 97% with no critical errors (all Amazing Success).

On my final construction, I'm using the same Steel with the same stats. Prior to final structure experimentation, my harvester is already at BER 11. But the final experimentation only allows me to play around with the storage capacity and efficiency. Even at this point I continue to reach amazing success with no critical errors. Still, I end up with a BER 11.

Am I overlooking anything at all? I'm wearing 12 points of experimentation and using an uber crafting station.

Help me out guys. This girl is getting fed up!

OMU's don't use lub oil, they use inert gas. Are you talking about the chemical in the final combine?

There are 2 lines of experimentation on harvesters. The efficiency / extraction line is where you put the points to max out the BER.

With that steel and inert gas in your OMU and lub oil in the final combine, you should get a max BER 13 easily with great/amazing successes in experimentation with points to spare.

Are you absolutely sure you're selecting the right materials?

Now I've just embarrassed myself

I've been using all the right materials with all the right stats all along.

The mistake that I've made (which I've just now discovered) is that during the final structure experimentation, I've been putting all my points into the Storage line.

I guess if I would've put them into the Efficiency line, I'd realize I could have been making BER 13's all along.

Anyway, I did get one to come out.

Thanks for all your help guys.
