Thread: What is up with the empty vendors?
Oh.. you said no-one stocks them...
At the time I logged off last night I had at least 10 factories on my vendor, of various types.
A also have (or had) a large number of heavy harvesters, a few mixed medium harvesters, and at couple of every small harvester.
I expect to be re-stocking tonight.. at which point there should be multiple of every type of large harvester and factory in stock again, plus a good assortment of everything else (except houses... which I havnt bothered with up till now... though I'm considering it).
I also keep a furnishings vendor.. which has (or had... i know alot sold last night) a wide range of furniture (including Master items), which will be expanding further over the next couple of days.
I do agree however that only about 10% of stores are even worth bothering with... a large number are either empty or almost empty. Your best bet, assuming you are actualy willing to pay a realistic price, is to use one of the well known vendors (mainly found on these boards). There are even a small number of 'Super Stores' where multiple crafters have vendors for the whole range of craftable product (See my sig for the best one
).
I just read your reply to Grand..
Without meaning any disrespect to you, I do have a couple of observations...
Median means Middle, which is not the same asaverage... I believe you meant to say 'Mean'.
When detemining the average market price you canot decide toignore all of the values of45K+ in your calculation. If 99% of the samples were 46K and 1% were 15K you would arrive at a value of 15K, which obviously isnt the average (it should be fractionally under 46K).
You shouldn't include quoted prices where the product cannot actualy be purchased. Your example of a car merchant selling cheap is flawed, since in reality you should be considering a dealer with a posted price of 15K, but with an EMPTY lot, with a dealer selling at say 45K who actualy has something to sell. Which dealer can you buy from? Youare only getting an Awsome deal if you actualy walk away with the product.
You didnt actualy find any at 15K. You found people who TOLD you 15K, but who couldnt provide the product. Im sure if you waited long enough you might eventualy get one... but like a number of customers of a low price seller on another thread you might wait weeks.
I dont doubt at all that you spend all your money.. I would say that 90% of those I know are perpetualy close to broke. I commend you for looking for the best price you can. Anyone in a hurry will have to pay a price premium, but if you can afford to shop around then you will save. The most important thing to take away from your experience is that the low prices you see quoted for very resource intensive items are often competely unrealistic, and that items ARE available from reputable vendors if you are prepared to pay a more reasonable price.
Can we please get this thread close so this individual will stop griefing the architect community looking for free stuff.
3cr/r, anything less is giving stuff away for free, which it seems no one is doing.
To stock a vendor with an assortment of heavy harvesters, large and medium homes and factories would tie up a TON of resources (in the 3-400k resources range). No way most architects can afford to tie up that many resources into products they have no guarantee to sell.
I also charge 45k for factories, but I can deliver it within an hour, usually less. I keep as many resources on hand as I can get my hands on and try to just offer the fastest delivery possible once someone places an order.
The day I have to sell structures at less than 3 cpu is the day I become a resources dealer ![]()
