Thread: Impending catastrophe with Schematic Limit of 100

I'm completely amazed by this. It is really hard for me to imagine a nerf that was more damaging to architecture. And yet, at least half the posters here are saying, 'hey, no big deal; go ahead and nerf the big guys, that leaves more for us small guys.'

The large and the small operations have common interests. If the small guys are so anxious to throw the large guys to the wolves, don't expect them to stick up for you. We get very little love from the developers as it is - internal divisions just won't help.

And, as a note, this nerf would make life very tedious for the big PA-supported architects, but you know what - they'd just scrounge up another 8 lots or so, put up a bunch of factories, grumble, and deal with the tedium. Some would quit, but more would take their place. The people who would REALLY be put out of business are those who operate by buying resources: if the daily routine is buy 30k resources at 2.5 credits, make one factory run, and sell finished goods at 3 credits, then their daily net-revenue is down to 15k per day and they are REALLY cooked.

I could not compete if I bought my resources, I dont see how you do it.

There are three areas to schematic construction...TWO of them say you can make a schem of 1000 units. only ONE says 100. Therefore this was a TYPO! TYPO TYPO TYPO TYPO TYPO TYPO! IF Holo insists on calling it a bug then fine...THE 100 ITEM LIMIT ON THE SLIDER WAS OBVIOUSLY A CODING ERROR BUG!

Try entering anything from 101-999 for your quantity. There's 899 more pieces of evidence that they inteded the limit to be 100.

Seriously, this is a ridiculous argument. Are people really trying to tell the devs what they were planning on doing? Is this some sort of Jedi mind trick in progress? ("This is not the limit you are looking for")

All your evidence implies is that perhaps at some point theytried out a 1000-item limit, but decidedin the end to drop it to 100. Unfortunately, they left a typo in an error message, and a hole in the interface which could be exploited.

I'm not one to criticize other people's gaming styles, but if you can't pull it off within the rules as intended, you should maybe look first at your own operations rather than trying to get the rules changed to fit you.

I have to agree with 100 being too few. I am not PA supported but am in business with 1merchant partner. I play evenings only due to work etc and use my factory for small runs while I'm in game and then a final 100+ brick run before I log ( size depending on the ore I have).

Getting enough ore is not an issue for more than 100+ bricks, especially if you don't build every day. Forcing people to log in just to restart a factory just makes this less of a game and more of a job imo.

Having a factory just to make enough structure models for ONE large harvester just seems a little silly to me, especially when it would be much simpler to add a 0 to the slider and leave things as they are.

If it must be fixed I like the job queue idea though but we all know that will never happen.

Surely SOE can find better things to fix than this ?

glib, i don't know about AH, but I was joking when I wrote it earlier...

does it really matter? if it was a bug, fine. if its a nerf, fine.... we need to take up any concerns with the devs about it.

Personally, I don't really care one way or the other... I like the 1000 limit, but 100 isn't gonna kill me either.

First, I don't buy resources; I mine the majority of them. But there are people (or were) who operate in this fasion.

I could, however, make money buying resources at 2.5.

Nah, wasn't implying that it couldn't be done. Just thinking along the line of the least amount of resource used and less fails this way. I'd be fine wtih a 110 schematic if they wanted to limit it. Just give the 10 more for the walls schematic to be made. Yeah,I know they don't have to be identical anymore but I don't want to make them by hand just to fail on them and lose resource either. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what they decide to do and live with that.

Who the hell ever believed the devs at anything they have ever said?

It was obviously a game design because the message is there stating that you cant make anything over 1000 items.

It looks more to me like a nerf to the architect class. Now I dont understand why some people are saying that they could let their factories run all night long making wall modules because it doesnt work that way for me.

My factories dont accept factory crate items, you have to remove them from the crates and manually install all of them into the input hopper. So I end up hanging around the factory anyway moving structure modules into them as they are used up. I can basically make 9 wall modules at once (since you can only hold 98 structural modules and 1 container each of ore and metal in the input hopper at once) and then have to restart the factory when it runs out of modules.

That is the real nerf. I thought these factories were supposed to be somewhat automated and take out the grind the daily crafting for the Master Architects. Instead we are continueing to grind moving resources around to make up for the devs lack of vision and programming skills.

In my opinion they need to make the input hopper hold 1000 items or at least fix the stupid bugs not allowing factory crate items still in the crates from being used in the factory runs.

And this is only one more reason why more architects will quit and start selling their resources since the extra time and effort will no longer be worth it.

I can make decent credits selling my finished products to my PA mates at a measly 2 credits per resource. I dont sell outside the PA.

I cant imagine how detrimental this will become when urban planner comes around.

Once more the devs prove their lack of vision (it didnt take much for them to make the game since the whole game world already existed along with the storyline, which by the way I havent seen much of the storyline or did they just figure it wasnt needed?) in developing anything to work in this game.

Now I guess I'll be selling my resources on the bazaar for 3-6 credits per since there is no need to waste time with factories that will be working as intended.

i never knew you could make a run of 1k,in fact ive always seen it as 100.how were you guys doing this(no im not a noob)everything that i have read has said 100,every mention iv'e seen says 100.

maby this is why somany people have been having problems with factories.not makeing all, eating resorses...etc.becouse we have people doing runs of 1k all day long!

i think 100 is fine...and yes it was never ment to be 1k,it seems some of you are mad becouse you wont be able to do this any more.now i see why the profit field has been so damiged.

(and yes i do agree that if this was a known issue that it should have been fixed pre-lounch or very quickly there after, but you know what?in all the mounths of reading posts IV NEVER SEEN ANYONE POST ANY THING ABOUT THIS!only when they deside to fix this BUG/TYPO/THING THEY DIDNT INTEND!..people now come out the wood work with fists rased?!?!?)

i say FIX IT!

i have lost a little fath in this profession becouse of this.

*Perhaps if everyone kept quiet about the bug, then it wouldn't have gotten "fixed." Silence is sometimes the best solution *

We know about it simply because we type in the number instead of using a slider.

How is make us use 10 times as many resources to do the same job helping there precious database?

Heh... that's another thing that makes this whole fiasco amusing. Holo makes one passing reference in the Dev Forum post that it *might* have something to do with the database, and everyone immediately latches onto it and posts 101 reasons why giving them what they want will help the database.

I can just imagine Holo reading that thread, smacking his forehead, andsaying "Why? Why?Why did I say that?"
