Thread: How to stop Crit Failures
Actually factories guarantee the loss of one set of components, the ones to make the schematic.
And there is the cost of of the factory, maintenance and power. No it isn’t the same as a crit-failure exploit.
However if you talk to Shila, she can give your Gargamel's phone number and you can make an arrangment to never fail again.
Anian:
Exactly. Critical Failures still happen with this macro if you don't manually hit enter or click on "assemble".
However, there are situations in which if you are crafting by hand you will notice it SAYS you have received a critical failure and it will revert back to the screen with all the component blocks and show them as filled.
I'm not certain why this happens or what causes this, but by using a "finishing" macro with the nextCraftingStage / createPrototype commands, you can often create the object you had failed on.
Now.. I also know sometimes in heavy crafting I've moved too fast for the interface and somehow wound up in the same screen without a critical failure and the buttons don't work. The "finishing" macro also works there to "push" me through the build without having to escape out of it.
So perhaps this is a catch-22 - the Devs have a choice of leaving this problem in to allow legitimate crafters a means of escaping problems with a laggy interface and letting people who use this as a work-around for critical failures get away with it - or nerfing the problem and screwing the legitimate usersout of a solution to a nasty bug.
Either way I'm thinking that if this is true and works the way I have written it here, it would only make sense to perform the last steps of any large build manually and if you receive a critical failure simply mash your finishing macro and see what happens.
Personally, I don't think we should be upset over the ability to side-step critical failures in the profession that uses more resources than any other and yet still maxes out at +55 experimentation points (not including SEAs) due to the incomplete structural tree being implemented.
Basically, with this design in place - once Urban Planners are released there will be absolutely NO benefit in someone just being an Architect as UPs will get 10 blocks of experimentation versus the 5 you get as a Master Architect.
oh.. wait... right.. experimentation doesn't mean anything yet.
