I really dont understand why SOE feels the need to take crafters where resources matter (weaponsmith, armorsmith, mainly) and take things away from the people who have been playing this game for 2 years now.. it's just crazy IMHO.. I mean if an armorsmith needs hide, intrusive ore, and gemstone (to name a couple) and stats like SR,OQ,UT matter, and have multiple lines of experimentation.
Why take and change that, I don know if it's in this thread or another but someone stats that SWG has a wonderful crafting system, and I have to agree with them, it's a wonderfully made crafting system. Why change something that has been working for 2 years. I know the combat needs some changing but come on... the crafting is changing to, maybe not for architects, maybe not for tailors, but armorsmith, weaponsmith they are achanging my friends. I dont know just my 2 cents. and honestly my 2cents arent worth alot lol

When considering the crafting changes, don't consider only CU, also consider ROTW. There is a huge Lucas marketing campaign to milk spinoffs, and SWG is one of them. The possible side effect, possibly desirable from the point of view of SOE and Lucas, is to slow down existing crafters (think knockdown or stun) enough to give new players a better chance to break into business. By obsoleting old crafting recipes and making different material requirements for new recipes, two things will happen. Number one, existing crafters will need to scramble for new materials, creating demand-driven cost increasesfor newly-required materials and a potential money source for new players via mining. Number two, existing hoarded resources will be sold at generally less than previous value, creating a better situation for grinding crafters. Combined with the combat changes which appear to penalize harvesting efforts by non-combatant crafters, expect to see more miners who are non-artisans, and a subsequent general rise in resource costs and a reduction in the availability of some resource classes in the months after ROTW introduction.
Those are my thoughts and predictions at this time, enormously speculative (of course).

what I am talking about is the fact that they are changing the what is needed for the crafting and how does that not open up the market for new crafters ,, I think that it does, because a master armorsmith of 2 years can get the same NEW stuff as an armorsmith of 2 weeks when this launches..

Wait a minute, I smella conspiracy! I can just picture it now:
DevMgr: Holy crap, we've lost a lot of customers since WoW came online! How will we make our bonus this year? Revenue has dropped dramatically. Any ideas out there?
evilDev1: Hey boss, what if we implement changes so that our current cust base buys another account to support an existing one?
evilDev2:Yeah! We'll ramp up the difficulty levels on all the creaturesso that all the crafting characters have to start up another acct on that server to access their harvesters as combat characters.
DevMgr: Great idea! We'll suck an extra $15/month out of those morons, er, ... I mean paying customers! They're crafters, so they'll put up with anything. They haven'tcancelled their acctsyet, so why should this change anything? Mr. Data, make it so! Oops, wrongseries reference.
evilDev1 & 2: Good one boss!
LMAO!!! This is the way I actually play. I log on to my Rifleman, clear out the entire area around my little slice of Tat, and then log on my crafter while my Rifleman guards me

Honestly, right now, Architect is one of the few crafting professions that is actually looking attractive to me. Using all of my Armorsmith resources I could build some of the most expensive structures out there. How about a Merchant Tent made with 1900 OQ/SR hide?
I know you guys haven't had anything added in ages but it would be sweet to see the other variety of plants and furniture that you see in the NPC cities made available for crafting.

Woo-hoo! 1st time I've been quoted in the forums! I feel worthy -- can I wear some armor, pretty please???
Question:
How do you log on two characters at same time? Two computers at home???

The only differences between an Armorsmith now, and one 2 weeks old are:
1. The older Armorsmith has had the time to stockpile resources for his trade.
2. The older Armorsmith has probably paid 15 mil or more for a 12 point crafting suit.
3. The older Armorsmith is probably R.I.S. certified.
Now you said that Armorsmith that has played for 2 years should be on the same level as one that has had the Master Armorsmith title for 2 weeks?
NOT!
Someone posted earlier a good point... A Master Crafter, any crafting profession, be it Armorsmith, Architect, Weaponsmith, etc... These folks that have been doing this since day 1 has learned the ins and outs of their crafting profession. They can look at a resource and tell you if it is good enough to make that OMU up to 90% or better, or make that armor you are wearing 80% Kinetic with a 70% base.
All I am saying here is it might level the playing field, but all it is doing is telling folks who take pride in their work, have contributed articles, and numerous amounts of time to helping others learn their craft, that all their efforts of the past couple years have all been for naught. Pretty chicken**** if you ask me...
If new crafters want the playing field leveled, they should find another game, or learn to work for what they get instead of whining that it isnt fair...
I worked damn hard to get where I am now, and still working, I know of many others like me that are in the same boat. Nobody just handed me what I have on a silver platter and said, "Here you go, Buddy, now you can craft like the folks who have been doing it 3 times as long as you have."
Sorry folks...
But this whole deal has me upset... it is my opinion that this incessant whining about things not being fair and equal is what has us in this discussion in the first place. And to see folks actually happy about this? Makes me furious...

I still think SOE is trying to tweak the game to match their original plan for the economy.
