Thread: What are your prices?
JKF74,
I'm a little confused on one thing you wrote when I did a little research as I was curious. You said you are basically harvesting now off of 9 lots total and using all personal harvesters. Even if all 9 of them were on 60% concentrations of ore (rare, but possible) you would only be bringing about 15k ore per day. this is just barely enough to make 1 medium house per day, to use your example. Your costs do fit with you using all personals so I'll assume that is correct. The problem is, you then can't be bringing in 76k in profit each day, the number would be only 31k. Now, again, if you're happy with that level of profit, so be it, but it would seem that going just a few days without a sale could have your business in trouble. I on the other hand can go a couple weeks without a sale and still be in perfectly viable shape and no worries.
As I said, I'm not saying don't sell at the price you're happy with, but, if it helped both you and those around you in the community, why wouldn't you sell for what the market will bear? If those houses or installations you do build are gone in a matter of minutes or an hour, do you really think bumping that medium house to say 55k or 60k would make that much of a difference?
I have 6 of my lots plus 5 rented running on ore...it allows me just enough to make 2 mediums per day. I keep the leftovers and switch out every couple days to steel/aluminum etc...True sometimes during shifts I can get hit a little. But I also took the time to stockpile about 100k ore and 75k steel before I started getting into mediums. This gives me cushion enough to make it through tight times.
Also I used to charge what most of you are saying. However I had gotten to the point of having 5-10 medium deeds and 15-20 smalls just sitting at my vendor with no takers. At that time I decided to have a "sale" and reduced prices to what they are now. I realized then what my profit margins were.
Again I will say...I'm not hurting anyones business. I wish I was as powerful as so many people would make me out to be. Giving current server population limits it would be next to impossible for me to be the sole architectual supplier for an entire galaxy.
Hmm..I just typed out a long rant telling others how to play their game the way many try to tell me how to play mine. I just deleted it though. Its not any more my place to tell others how to play their game than it is for them to tell me how to play. Charge what you want, my prices are staying as is.
Wind 2k
Small House 10k
Med Mineral 15k
Solars 20k
Factories 55k
Medium House 75k
I can and do make sales at these prices. In fact, I get repeat business. I may not be the busiest and I may not be the richest, but I more than cover my costs of running my medium extractors. I am on Corbantis where people have complained about the undercutters. They are there. I have seen the 3k small houses on the bazaar. But they haven't put me out of business. I haven't had to sell resources to cover my expenses in quite a while now.
I'll explain myself before listing prices and getting flamed. Since my first day of playing I have made my way up first the artisan tree to Master and then Arch (4/0/3/3)...with a few side trades as well
But architecture is my main profession. I've built my little business form the ground up with 0..none..zip...zilch help from anyone(no second account/PA backups etc etc)) For most of the time I used a small Naboo Syle 2(1 lot) house as my shop and ran 9 various harvestors. I have NEVER bought any resources, and have always mined my own
Once I had some money in the bank and an established business I moved up to a Medium Naboo(2 lots) and a structure facory(2 lots). For the remainder of my lots(6) I have various harvestors(personals) and I now rent 5 additional lots from 2 people. My current expenses are about 14k per day(including lot rental fee)
My item prices are: any small house 6k, medium houses 45k, any factory 20k, personal harvestors 700, medium mineral extractors 10k, med chem extractors 20k
I mine enough resources to build 2 medium houses per day((just using houses as an easy example))...thats 90k gross - 14k expenses = 76k net profit per day.
Maybe I'm just not as greedy as some, but 76k per day is plenty to keep me happy. Now my prices are from my vendor ONLY, and are first-come, first-serve. For special orders I usually charge about 50% higher if I even accept the order((which I respond immediately whether I can do the order or not)). And I do NOT take waiting lists for my items.
Do you really think McDonalds would stay in business if they decided to raise the price of a regular hamburger to $5 because they werent profiting enough? If they did...I'd buy all the stock I could in Burger King the very next day
Ok, have you factored in re-deed costs, travel costs, crit failsand your time into the costs? Doesn't look like it.
Also, do you think if people would pay $5 for a hamburger that McDonalds AND Burger King wouldn't both raise that price?
Its been proven time and again, that people WILL pay 70k for a Medium house, even when there are people charging 45k down the road, so why would you NOT want to make that extra cushion for those days when you don't get any sales? I work with a very similar setup as you do, I'm always busy with orders and when I'm not, i get a couple extra deeds made up or resources stocked so I'm ready for that next rush of orders and I never have to sell anywhere close to the prices you're listing here. Granted, different servers create different situations, but I'm willing to bet there are a number of architects on your server that are selling for more and doing just fine and have a bit of a cushion for when things aren't quite as good.
You certainly can sell for what you want, I just don't understand why you'd sell for less than you can sell the basic resources for or for less than people are willing to pay.
grr..GIVE USEDITS!!... ![]()
If I wanted to sell resources, I'd be a miner. And I'll say it again....76k per day PROFIT. Be greedy if you want, its none of my business.
