Thread: It finally happened
I just love the PA architect vs solo architect arguments.
They are so baseless.
Any old architect can temporarily train a weapon skill to expert or specialist level and make enough credits in each day (and gain some defensive skill) to more than pay for all their harvesters.
And if you were a good sell you could always find someone willing to rent their lots out for cheap so you could get all those extra lots you were wanting. (just be sure to find the nonguilded members since their lots are probably spoken for already)
How about this, if he's willing to sell a house for 4k, ask this person (politely!) whether they would sell you wall modules for 3.5k... Granted thats WAY below market value, BUT, if they're willing to sell a house for 4k, they might be willing to sell you a wall for the same or less. Perhaps we can creatively take the people who sell for really low prices out of the market (or at least lessen their hold on the market) with this method. I'm going to try it next time I see someone shouting they're selling cheap small houses.
Yes, we have a free market without any hardcoded restrictions. Yet a free market without any restrictions is bonded to be a ride straight down to hell. That is why about 80% of the architects on this forum is agreeing on the 3 cr/unit MINIMUM pricing scheme. We NEED some minor restrictions. We NEED to have everybody agree to a set standard of how much we should AT LEAST charge for our work. Why? Because obviously common sense and an healthy knowledge of how a proper economy should work is -NOT- an option for every Joe blow architect out there. We simply have people that just don't get it.
Every time we have a price discussion, some one would waltz in here and say one of the following:
- Walmart undercutting marketing policy
- Free Economy
Well, hell..... Walmart does undercut other people in some areas, and they do a good job at it. But do you think Walmart gained all its success from undercutting people? Oh, hell no. If you look carefully next time you're in Walmart, you will notice that in general Walmart's pricing is -NOT- that different from your everyday store. So how do they maintain this "We are the cheapest stores around" image? Well, there is this thing called television that was invented back in the days, and ever since it had been the best since sliced bread for big stores with money to afford advertisements. Walmart presents to us an image that they are Cheap! They Undercut! They are the cheapest place to shop! For every person with the Walmart anology, oo you even bother to go check out every item listed in their inventory and compared it with the price of the local stores? well, of course not! Because everyone of you who is pulling this "Walmart undercutting theory" is being influenced by the millions and millions of dollars Walmart spend on advertisement. Talk about being drones.
As for Free economy. No reallifeeconomymodel is ever 100% free. Why? Because it only leads to disater. For those people who loves to pull out the "Free economy" theory, do you honestly think US economy is FREE? If you do, *gasp* you're living in a faiery tale. In a totally free economy, trade is totally unregulated. Do you think US allows a 100% trade freedom? Do you not see the embargos and trade limitations US placed on other countries so that it can protect its own industries? Do you not see the huge trade deficits that US has to endure every year due to outside countries able to undercut main stream US based industries? And do you not know severe steps were taken to ease these trade deficits such as purposely weaken the US currency against other countries' currency so that US main stream industries can compete with foreign industries? Those of you that holds dear to the "this is a free economy, let everybody sell whatever they want" argument, wake up and smell the coffee. Read for crying out loud. No realistic economy model is ever "Free" because we just cannot rely on the common sense and good judgement of people.
As we have it now in SWG, unfortunately, we do have an economy without restrictions. There is no "government" aroundto protect every architect out there from some one with absolutely no sense of how to run a business and make a living. That is why we all need to come to an understanding and set up a MINIMUM price scheme.
We are not price fixing. We are onlysetting a minimum requirement to ensure every architect out there can make a living without having to hold a freaking blaster shooting mindlessly at some little bunny.
We are not price gauging. We are only creating an environment where random_resource_seller_023 with 10 lots free and some credits for harvestorsdoes not end up making MORE than our profession who we INVESTED time, energy, and skill points for.
We are not cheating people out of their credits. We just want a fairshare of what other crafters can have. We don't ask for 10 cr/unit, hell, I believe everyone of us would be happy if we can get 5 cr/unit!
We are not asking to be millionaires. In fact, we are probably the poorest crafter class in the game! Our products don't decay. They can be resold for its full value. Our profession is heading towards a dead end with no decay and no return business value.
So to those of you who just don't get it, be it architects or none-architects, I say this to you. Wake up and watch as this profession slowly wither. We complain because we don't want a profession that we invested time, energy and skill point to go to waste. Don't tell me to just quit this profession if I don't like it. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't have picked it out in the first place. Just becauseI don't like the injustice that we experience in this profession does NOT mean I don't like this profession.
