Now, if I tipped my alt 1million credits, would I legitimatly be at risk of getting banned? It's hard enough making some decent cash with CM skills that I have to rely on my Archi alt.
If it is, I can see this being a bigger problem for many people that have alts for crafting while their main is more focused towards combat or vice versa.

True, the dice was a cheap example. But what would stop someone from "buying" several large harvesters for 1 million credits, and then drop them in the house for the original owner to just pick it back up again? Not sure if the Dev's would be able to track Harvs from player A being sold to player B, player B dropping those harvs in the house of player A that gave player B admin rights, and player A picking those harvs up again. If the Dev's are taking the time to check that out in detail, why don't they take the time to crate OMU's? =( What I'm basically saying is, there will be ways to get around any checks the Dev's would do. So is their effort worth it, or just waisted?

Hmm, I better watch myself then. I've completed a rather larger order for a guildmate, with him oweing me 3.9 million credits. He's already tipped me twice the 1million max in a few seconds. Think they've got wanted posters of me in the dev's coffee lounge? Maybe I should sell him a six sided dice for the remaining 1.9 million so I don't look too suspicious.
I wouldn't do that. Selling an item of little value for a very large amount of money would probably be a very big red flag in SOEs opinion that you might be doing something illegitimate. THe real dupers aren't making legitimate looking trades to launder their duped credits.
I don't see how a dev can really be able to checkand see if money transfers are being done against SOE policy. There are just too many ways around avoiding getting flagged or whatever. I mean geezus, trade a bunch of harvesters for cash, and have the guy give you back the harvs after the first trade. Dev's can't keep track of things like that... can they?
Yesactually I'm sure they can.

Where did they say that?
in the corr forum.. we are brining up all of the issues of how it is easy to bring an innocent down... and that is pretty much the response we gave.. I dont know if I exactly had permission to quote that but i felt it needed to be said...
They should say something public.
THey should have said something to the people who were banned. Everyone I've heard of who was banned was not told why or what was going on.... just attempted to log in only to find their account status was set to banned.

Yeah
Then get told that you have had an out of game email about it (that never arrived), and should respond to that.
Not a very well executed seek and destroy mission this. It's more nuking flies it looks like.

Hey all.
Just to keep you updated, here's the email she finally got today from SOE.

"Greetings: We have recently been made aware of a bug which was used as a
method to duplicate credits in Star Wars Galaxies. We have since fixed
this bug and stopped its use. The exploitation of this bug resulted in
the creation of a large amount of credits which is damaging to the game?s
internal economy. We have identified everyone that exploited this bug and
are in the process of terminating the accounts that were involved. We are
continuing to actively investigate this issue and may determine at a
later date that further terminations may be necessary. If you are
receiving this reply to your inquiry, your account has been identified as
one involved with exploiting this bug and your account(s) have been
terminated (or suspended pending termination). It is against our Terms of
Service (agreed to ever! y time you enter the game) to exploit bugs or
other obvious system design flaws. Section 12 of the rules of conduct
located at the official Star Wars Galaxies website states: 12. You will
not exploit any bug in Star Wars Galaxies, and you will not communicate
the existence of any such exploitable bug either directly or through
public posting, to any other Sony Station member. You will promptly
report such bugs via the /bug command in-game or by emailing
[email protected]. Exploitable bugs include, but are not limited to
bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits in-game.
Any account that has been positively identified to have exploited this
bug or was used to move these duplicated credits around (and all related
accounts) will be terminated and will not be reactivated. "

Sounds promising, doesn't it? (NOT)
It goes without saying that she has absolutely no clue what she was supposed to be involved in, aside from the fact she sold stuff on her vendor. She never got any large tips, the only large transaction she did was with someone that didn't get banned (thus the assumption that it couldn't have been that is kinda straightforward), and there's no explanation of events included with any emails.
Also she got told:
--
Both online tech support and in-game told me they DIDN'T have the ability
to handle this, that it would only be addressed via email.
--
To which I'm sure they mean the quoted part above. If that's how they 'handle' this, I consider this extremely bad support. But then again...
If this is how support handles this sort of thing, I really don't want to see what happens when a real bug actually hits the game..
Mad.

Yes it is extremely bad support. Thats about all I've seen as far as support from SOE thus far.
I'm sure some of the individual people working in support for SWG are doing a good job. But as a whole they appear either severely understaffed, horribly mismanaged or both.
