Thread: Recent spree of bans.

Zen nailed it on the head.
It appears what they are doing is finding who they think the dupers are and then tracking their financial logs. So if you end up with a large amount of money from a known duper then you're a suspected accomplice. Then SOE throws common sense out the window and provides another text book example of exactly how NOT to do customer service by banning a lot of innocent people without doing any real, competent investigation of the situation.

Hmm, I better watch myself then. I've completed a rather larger order for a guildmate, with him oweing me 3.9 million credits. He's already tipped me twice the 1million max in a few seconds. Think they've got wanted posters of me in the dev's coffee lounge? Maybe I should sell him a six sided dice for the remaining 1.9 million so I don't look too suspicious.
I wouldn't do that. Selling an item of little value for a very large amount of money would probably be a very big red flag in SOEs opinion that you might be doing something illegitimate. THe real dupers aren't making legitimate looking trades to launder their duped credits.
I don't see how a dev can really be able to checkand see if money transfers are being done against SOE policy. There are just too many ways around avoiding getting flagged or whatever. I mean geezus, trade a bunch of harvesters for cash, and have the guy give you back the harvs after the first trade. Dev's can't keep track of things like that... can they?
Yesactually I'm sure they can.
...
So I'm absolutely sure that they have an audit trail of every transaction. It *may* be the case that they purge the old audit trails after some time period, but if they are concerned about credit duping occuring in the past few weeks I'm sure that they can run some queries and have a complete "paper trail" of the movement of money.

Where did they say that?

1) This was a batch process... we have not yet notified each account. Additionally, there are many with invalid email addresses.
2) Response times are currentlylonger than we preferdue to the number of tickets we are currently receiving from players concerned about this issue. If she has not gotten through, in-game tickets or email to [email protected] . Tech support and in-game both have the process to handle these issues.
3) Email to [email protected] or call tech support at 858 790 STAR. They could also go to the website and do live webchat with Tech Support.
