I got a question, cause I havn't made a building yet or even looked @ the schemetic, but what goes into making a house? Just materials or componets that must be made first included with the materials? Untill I made my first piece of bone armour I wondered why people charge alot for armour cause not just because of materials but you got to make sub componets some of which require a different branch of the tech tree. Now I'm not saying a house should cost less than a weapon or armour, but weapons and armours doesn't have maintance cost with it. What should happen is a % of the maintance cost should come to you the Architect. Just an idea.

The Mennace...

Hey Mennace,

Small houses require 10 Structure Modules, 1 Light Power Core Unit, 1 Small Structure Storage Module

Structure, Food, and Clothing factory's take 30 Structure Modules, 3 Wall Modules, 2 Generator Turbines, 1 Manufacturing Mechanism, and 1 Structure Storage Module (This last piece requires having Buildings 1 to make).

As you go up to larger buildings so do the needed premade components.

Also weapons and armor do have maintance costs. Eventually you will need to buy a weapon or armor repair tool from an artisan. Eventually not even that will work and you will have to buy an outright new set of armor or new weapon. So not only do weaponsmiths and armorsmiths make more money than us per resource they also have a forced market for repeat business. Only reason someone would really need to buy a new house from us is if for some reason he let it decay to nothing. The only true repeat buisness for the Architect is if someone decides to buy new furniture.

It's not just armor and weaponsmiths charging a ton more than us. I was looking for a Master Artisan and Droid Engineer to make a Crafting Station with all the optional parts. They are charging over 10 credits a resource for these. Droid Storage Comparment takes 23 metal and they are selling on my server for 250 credits. Micro Sensor Suite takes 121 resources and they charge 1500.

This is BS and we can't do anything about it because the people selling for 3 credits will just keep selling for 3 credits.

I think part of it is people have sticker shock.

They also do not realize that paying 15K for a medium harvester is nothing. On a 50% resource they can make enough cash in 1 day of selling those resources to pay for it.

Ziroc --

So you suggest that we all start to charge for 10 cr/resource used. so that makes a small house 33k, a medium 206k, a large 371k and a PA hall 553k. I don't about you, but those are some pretty steep prices. It is that we need to charge 10 cr/resource it is that you need to charge what you feel comfortable with. I charge what I charge because I feel that is fair and i make a nice profit. As for all of you folks that are concerend about what other professions sell for, make a few friends and I am sure they will cut you a deal. I have and I have gotten a free tantel suit, a DL-44, and any piece I need from a droid engineer. Yes, I got it for FREE. All it takes is helping them, These folks have not gotten anything from me for free, except for business. You send people to them saying so-and-so sent me it looks good. This game is about networking, I think we all need to figure out how to do this a little better.

Those high prices, they should be high. Its a HOUSE and a FACTORY for gods sake. Since when should a weapon cost as much as a house? You can go to a gunstore and buy a real nice weapon for 2,000 dollars, good luck finding a house for 2,000 dollars. We are the suckers because most of the Architects just decide to not care.

I charge 5 credits a resource on my small houses around 17K and am told that is steep and I am ripping people off by the same people paying 10 credits a resource for something that only took 100-300 resources, when a small house is 3388 resources. My point is why should we be expected to sell out merchandise for cost or just a hair over cost, when these other professions charge 8-10x cost.

Seen people post some cost per resource anaylise when using harvesters and seems it's around .60-.70 credits a resource. Figure in failures and your looking at costs between 1-2 credits on any crafted item that you harvest the resources and make all the parts yourself. So while other professions make a profit of 5-8 credits per resource they all expect Architects to be happy making 1-1.5 credit per resource off thier items by selling for 3 credits a resource.

Factory's can cut your failure rate down by making some compenents with not failure, you can still fail on the final combine though. But, by using a factory you then have to add that 1200 a day maintance and power requirements into your cost.

I sell mainly to a few select people that fill all my time ...I give them good discounts and they keep me busy.

As for other people they pay for it or i wont bother with them..Im not making stuff for them just to gain skill i would rather hoard it then to sell for a price i dont like..

Simple fact ill be master in about 3 days if you dont like my prices ,i have other customers to keep me busy and dont care about gain..

You know what we need?

A universe-wide architectural price FIX!

That's right! Say, 5 cr per resource?

I'll found a mob-- er, I mean, PA... it'd be called "Family Saecarini", which would enforce such price fixing among members of the architectural profession, and would not shy away from resorting to physical forms of "convincing" them
