Thread: Which Architect Type are you?
Type 5 (or 6 or whatever we are up to):
Independent and never been associated with a guild in any way. I run my own lots and only my own lots. I sell for 4 to 5 credits a resource, have no problem making sales, and in no way feel economically abused.
Type Y
My husband and I have been crafting up together as a team. He's an armorcrafter/tailor and I'm an architect/doctor, so although we have more lots we both require the resources. I started off doing missions all the time with him and a couple friends for fun and to keep up our personal harvestors. Eventuallywe required more resources and more time as well forcrafting. In the past week I've given up all my marksman as I've advanced in architect. I feel the most beneficial way to advance is trading for resources so you don't run out... afterall, what good are credits really... yes they will buy resources, but this is a nice way to find dealers as well. I've never believed in selling at a loss though. If no one elsewanted to buythe harvestor or factory I could. I trade stimpacks for hides and other things.. as well as selling for credits to maintain my harvestors now. (well I was till my factory broke again...) In addition to using larger harvestors so I don't have a need for more lots, I have been compressing them and trading or surveyingsomeresources thatI don't require as much ofwhile I make structure modules.
The most fun I've had so far with the architect linewas spending around 5 hours last night designing a PA house.. .and I'm not done yet
I highly recommend it to people that are looking for something more than just sitting at your station crafting and selling off a vendor. Make personal relationships with people and express your creativity.. share thoughts and ideas and build a home (not just a house) thatyou know will give others pleasure.
Everyone has their niche I believe and everyday I find myself becoming closer to my own.
I think I'm closer to type 2. I'm 0.0.4.3 in the tree now and have been playing for 5 weeks. I am in a Guild but it is small and they don't give me any lots or resources. I definitely would not consider it a powergamer guild and it is more role play focused. I rent 4 lots from a guy who isn't in the guild. I mine my own resources and buy cheap res when I can find it. I'm not rich but the bank account is now gradually increasing.
i know this may not belong here, but something Ive started doing on my server is take up and coming architects and train them myself.
I give them all the ore and steel they need to make bricks then have them turn them into walls, and they give them back to me for use later. In return, they get XP and free training from me. I also try to instill in them a good business sense, and even give them some/most of my business. So far...Ive done this with three folks and each of them have become architects I would consider good people.
This reduces the influx of low cost structures floating on the market.
Just a tip from Corbantis
That was my whole point wasn't? Why should we, unlike any other profession out there, not be able to buy resources to complete sales. You could pay 4-6 cpu if we could get 10 cpu for our structures. Personally I don't think 10 cpu is asking too much. The problem is, like I said in my previous post, that there is nothing that differentiates us. What stops Joe the Weaponsmith from using 11 skill points so he can make his own weapon factory? Tell you what I've spent 63 skill points on this profession and I can't beat him. Try making a DL44 without your weaponcrafting experimentation line and see how it turns out.

Rath, if Hypnosia's server is anything like mine, the ore goes for anywhere from 4-6 CPU. More often at the 6 than the 4.
Buying at that cost makes no financial sense unless you are trying to save a customer sale for some reason where you expect additional business later on.
If I bought all my ore at the 4CPU rate, or even half of it at that rate I'd lose out on most of the profits I'm making now. And we all know thats not a lot. How does that make sense unless you're willing to go run missions to recoup the money?
Ok, think I get what you're saying now. Sounded like you were saying that she should go out and do it. Not that it really isnt' feasible in the current state of the economies.
Misunderstood that part of it.

Yeah sorry, I was being slightly sarcastic. hehe
Typ 24 - Professional miner, architect in the making. I am selling resources for 3 credit per on the bazaar, except for ore, mainly because I'm a ore whore, and need it to craft more harvs, So when I do sell it it is 5 credits per. I am currently managing 20 lots (rl friend play on another server), Think Furniture should be in a profession all by itself, interior design, we all realize that it generates more income, and face it people, architect dont design or build furniture, Carpenters do. Please Devs remove furniture from my profession, AND ADD NON PERMANENT BATTLE STRUCTURES IN THE 2 EMPTY BRANCHES IN MY PROFESSION. As for everyone harping on prices, resources 5cr for ore, 3cr for everything else, and I use the list i get in my email form the other architects I know. not that this helps any becuase I have only sold a few items, basically all I do is make harvs for myself and tell people to go screw themselves when they lowball me.

my only gripe is that they consistently keep ore at such low rates on most planets it's hard to make more than 1 large harv per day. last few days, i've yet to see anyplace on Naboo, Tatooine, Rori that has more than 55% ore. (Flurry server) they really need to balance the ore supply so we as architects can at least do more than 30 minutes of work per day.
Hyp you havent looked hard enough on Naboo
Try looking in the Lake Retreat area. If you run from Theed youll find about 1 million harvesters in a 60% area. I myself put 8 of my 10 lots there since I had never seen anything that high.
Im sure it is either gone already (didnt check yesterday) or will be by Sunday.
Type 4, by most descriptions.
Mostly self-supported, though I have at times borrowed between 6 and 10 lots from friends. Stopped doing missions for money the second day of Live. Supported by Architect proceeds since then. I sell for between 3cr/res (to TLC members and close friends) up to 6 cr/res to others. I paid an NPC for every single one of my architect skills because the one or two other architects on Tatooine (Bria)that were ahead of me weren't known to me at the time ![]()
I have a comfortable deposit in the bank, and have pretty much stopped doing outside orders. I now play the game for the fun of it, role-playing and generally having a good time with friends. I refuse to have my time sapped by discourteous or overly demanding customers. Those customers I continue to support are sensitive of my time and very polite. That's probably the only reason I don't follow the trend of other masters and start charging more for my products.
I think I'll stick around for Urban planner, and after I grow weary of that, I'll probably pick up some more fighting skills and try that aspect of the game. I triedChef for a while, but after I realized I wouldn't be able to master it without killing all of my other partial professions, I decided to just experiment around a bit. I thought it'd be pretty hard to give up some of the hard-won experience. But I highly recommend to others - try dropping a few skills, especially the fighting ones. They are really not that hard to regain, especially when you have a good bit of cash sitting in the bank. Money can really speed up the process of leveling most skills ![]()
If you get bored with any aspect of the game, don't think you have to stick to your best profession just because you spent a lot of timegetting master. Trust me, the journey is much more interesting than the destination. At least after a month or so sitting at that high point ![]()
